davidpatrick344: I'll agree with you on that.. I don't think people realize that these companies employ "average" Americans pay taxes in America.. Look at all the Chrysler/dodge hemi cars the only part built or assembled in the US is the automatic tranny in Illinois. To me it's different than building in japan and shipping to the US.. I'd rather support those that employ Americans!!

thewaterrat: my wifes Chev came off the Toyota assembly lines in Cali.. They didnt even go through the effort of making a second casting to remove the Toyota name on some parts. I go to Mazda dealerships to get dealer only parts for the ford.. The thing that made us buy a new Mazda really came down to service. Patrick, You know what I find interesting?
Back when I had a Pinto station wagon, and
when I had a Ford Maverick, those cars both
got between 30 - 35 MPH.

So why is, it that about 35 years later, car ads
are trying to make it sound like 30 - 35 MPH
is gas efficient. Why has there been little, or
no progress in the past 35 years?

Seems oil companies are screeching on the breaks,
talking back-room politics to keep consumers
dependent on oil... and if that doesn't work,
there's the oil man, T. Boone Pickens, who's
hands are black with oil and peddling natural gas
at the same time. He and our oily politicians would
like us to continue believing that our top scientists
are not capable of solving our energy dependency.

Why is that? Could it be that they still want to
prime their own pump by raking in all the oil and
natural gas profits they can before they allow
us to have cheap renewable energy? Wonder what
they really have?
