Why should it matter if our next president is religious?

In my experience, just because you're religious, doesn't make you nice (the scars on my skin and in my heart are proof enough for me).  Just because you worship God, doesn't make you a good person, it's your personal honor and moral system that judges it.

People say I'm innocent, and kind, but when I tell them my religious belief, they suddenly turn ugly. Like the other day, a man had a shirt listing different religions and insulting. He was smiling that I read it, but when I looked at him and asked "How come Christianity isn't on there?" He turned bright red and stormed away like I had just said a bad word. It was a simple question.

People also say I'm still young, what do I know? I know what it's like to be discriminated against because of my personal beliefs and having to listen to what my Jewish friend has to put up with when he wears his Star of David in the open instead of tucking into his shirt that he normally does.

So, why should it matter if McCain and Senator Obama are religious? Aren't there more important things to worry about?

Don't matter to me. I'll vote for an atheist any time.

Profession of a religion is no proof of moral probity, as history has proven time and time again -- the current American presidency included. There's a big difference in believing in a religion and living it. It's far easier to talk the talk than walk the walk -- and hoodwink the masses in the process.

Nightmare,I am a republican so does that mean that you don't like me? Man, talk about someone who "generalize". I am also a christian and no I don't hate you or anyone else for that matter. Just in case you don't know the differance between a christian and religion. I will tell you. "Christian" means you have a personal relationship with God and He is Lord of your life and you know that when you die that you will be going to Heaven. "Religion" is mans way of telling you how he thinks you should live, and young man let me tell you, religion will send you straight to Hell. May God Bless you.

No, Georgia-Man it means I frown upon your beliefs, but will hear you out until you say something very, very, very bad (like a bad word). I dislike Republicans in General means I don't like those in the party who make things worse for people like me who "rattle the cage" or "ask too many questions" I once got detention in High School for asking my government teacher why he taught only the conservative views. He went over nothing liberal.

Wait. Young man? ...Don't insult me! I'm a girl! I mean I'm a young lady! Why does everyone think I'm a guy? Someone answer me that when I've said so myself, I'm a young lady! Have you really read my bio? How many guys openly say they like white chocolate?! I like men! Men! My boyfriend is laughing...I hope you're happy Georgia-Man!

A candidate's religion and degree of religion are very important because it shapes their world view.

I am so sorry young lady. I guess it was the wrestling thing and talking about not being old enough to drink. Please forgive me I meant no disrespect to you.
This country was founded on Christian values and they worked for years and years. People started taking God out of our schools, and doing away with paddlings. When I was a young lad in school we said a prayer and The Pledge Allegiance evey morning. If you did something wrong in school you got a paddling in the hall then and there, then you most likely would get another one when you would get home. What I'm trying to tell you is we need to get back where we were and hold on to our Christian roots. If this offends you then just go away. But in the mean time I will be Praying for you to God in Heaven you know; the one and ONLY God that sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for ALL of our sins.
Before anyone jumps on me for saying we need to get back, I'm not talking about all the paddlings. I still think I feel them sometimes.lol

Doesn't OUR GOD Bless the leaders of the world? How can he do that if the leaders do not belive? That might be a good reason to have a man or woman in the highest office in United States that belives. Our contry and it's people our anyone can surly be blessed don't you think?

just which religion should our president be?
isn't one of the great things about living in the United States of America the fact that we don't judge people on religion, color, sex? of course their are some people, that pick out parts of our rights and constitution to live by. I think some people do that to the bible also, don't you think?
sometimes its ok to drink, sometimes its not. sometimes its ok to have affairs and flirt with people other than your mate, sometimes its not.
sometimes its ok to lie (you know...taxes and little things like that), sometimes its not.its hard to keep up with the rules or sins....
i think we have a hard enough time picking someone we think can run our country, without bringing what religion they are. about god blessing our leaders....which countries leaders do you think he blesses? isn't he supposed to bless everyone? leader or not, Christian or not? i thought in the bible, it says everyone is gods children.

Old enough to vote, but still not old enough to drink. I'm a student at a small college and I'm a lot nicer than my nickname implies. I average a 4.0 GPA and my likes include white chocolate, wrestling (especially the wrestlers Jeff Hardy and Shannon Moore), drawing, painting, rock music like Avenged Sevenfold, Killswitch Engage, Korn and Marilyn Manson, (yes I listen to Marilyn Manson wanna make something of it?) and video games. My dislikes are mushrooms, pickles, celebrity garbage, people who never look on both sides of the issues, people who generalize, Republicans in general and ignorance. I have been living in Central Florida for almost eight years and have been using most of my spare time to find every link between the oil tycoons and the Republicans in Congress.(Everyone has a hobby, this is mine).
