Nightmare's Blog

This is the story of two co-workers, one is a man, the other is a woman. The woman started almost seven months before the man, and the man managed to slip pass a step in our corporate ladder.

The situation. The woman had to ask our boss to have the information packet and test questions in order to go up to the next level. The man didn't have to ask, and was handed the packet with no questions asked or really answered. The man works hard, but works slowly so the clock will keep running and he gets overtime. If the woman tries to do that, she could get into trouble. The man also is disorganized and leaves his workstation a mess, while the woman does not. Also this man isn't even fully trained yet, like the woman, yet he is being promoted to the same level as the woman which she says is unfair because she had to tell the manager many times that she was due for her promotion.

I also work here and he got his pay raise after six months. I've been there seven months and still haven't gotten a raise, and yes, I'm a woman if you haven't already figured this out. Of course the woman, is upset about this and we feel that he is suddenly getting this special treatment because he is one of the few men who work at our store. In the staff of about thirteen people including the manager, only four of them are men including the manager, the rest of us are women ages 20- about 50 (she won't tell me her age, but she is a grandmother).

So is this a case of gender discrimination? If so, what can I do to help my co-worker and whom should I call to get some form of imformation?

How about instead of bloggin all of these YOU WRITE A MEMORANDUM to your boss.......first...then ask for a conference.....then see where that takes you??? that's what I would do in a situation like this and make sure you have DATES AND TIMES of what has transpired???? Good Luck. Remember this is FLORI---DUH and is a at will work crap......so unless you have over 70 people in that company I doubt you can do anything legally, THAT'S MY OPINION, I AM NOT AN ATTORNEY.....and/or SPEND THOUSANDS IN A LABOR ATTORNEY......BUT WAIT....GO TO THE FLORIDABAR.COM WEBSITE AND FIND A LABOR LAW ATTORNEY THAT CAN BETTER ADVISE YOU IN THIS MATTER. AGAIN......I SYMPATHIZE WITH YOU..BUT DUNNO....ONE HAS TO TAKE INITIATIVES..AND BLOGGIN IN THIS CASE WILL NOT BE HELPFUL THOUGH I AM SURE IS STRESS RELIEVING....good luck.

Old enough to vote, but still not old enough to drink. I'm a student at a small college and I'm a lot nicer than my nickname implies. I average a 4.0 GPA and my likes include white chocolate, wrestling (especially the wrestlers Jeff Hardy and Shannon Moore), drawing, painting, rock music like Avenged Sevenfold, Killswitch Engage, Korn and Marilyn Manson, (yes I listen to Marilyn Manson wanna make something of it?) and video games. My dislikes are mushrooms, pickles, celebrity garbage, people who never look on both sides of the issues, people who generalize, Republicans in general and ignorance. I have been living in Central Florida for almost eight years and have been using most of my spare time to find every link between the oil tycoons and the Republicans in Congress.(Everyone has a hobby, this is mine).
