I just saw the new Mummy Movie: "Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor"

It was very slow in the beginning; almost to the point that I was bored and wanted to walking out.

But I decided to stick with it and waited for the action.

The middle and the end were good.

Did you see it?  What did ya think?

FOX 35 is going up against MIX 105.1 to donate blood.

The Station that gets the least amount of blood loses the showdown.

So, Amy Kaufeldt (my 5pm co-anchor) and I might have to sing a song together at Universal CityWalk's Rising Star Karaoke Club next Friday July 25th at 8pm.

Just in case we lose, Amy and I have narrowed it down to two songs:

Bon Jovi's "Livin' On A Prayer" or

Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive."

Which song should Amy and I sing if we lose?

Comedian George Carlin died of heart failure yesterday at 71.

He had performed as recently as last weekend at the

Orleans Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas.

Here's what actor Ben Stiller said about him:

 "A hugely influential force

in stand-up comedy. He had an amazing mind, and his humor was

brave, and always challenging us to look at ourselves and question

our belief systems, while being incredibly entertaining.

He was one of the greats."

I've never seen his stand-up.  But I do remember him as a guest on "Larry King Live."

He seemed like a witty, yet cantakerous kind of guy.

Who do you think is carrying the "comedy torch"?

According to The New York Post, online oddsmakers are favoring rocker David Cook over young David Archuleta in the American Idol Finale.

If you were a betting man or woman who would you your money on?

Okay, I'll go first.  I think the texting power of "tweens" will put Archuleta over the top.

I've been hearing great things about the new

"Iron Man" movie starring Robert Downey Jr.

Have you seen it?  What did you think?

Is it worth my $9.50?

Hey Fox35 Bloggers,

Today I put together a story on the new "Simpsons Ride" at      Universal Orlando for Fox at Five.

It's replacing the "Back To The Future Ride."

It's a virtual ride similar to "The Spiderman Ride", but the ride-car doesn't move.  And you don't need 3-D glasses.

An 80 foot domed virtual theater surrounds you.

The ride lasts 4 minutes and 35 seconds.

I didn't know what to expect. I like the Simpsons t.v. show.                   But I really LOVED this ride because it's so visually stimulating.          It's also easy to get lost in the sensory overload.

I actually forgot I was on an attraction, and felt like I was part of the show.

Have you ridden it yet?

If so, how did you like it?  And what would you compare it to?

If you haven't ridden it, what are you looking forward to?

From The Associated Press: Singer Mariah Carey has passed Elvis Presley for the most No. 1 US singles and is now second only to the Beatles.

But while the diva was in full celebration mode after learning of her latest milestone with her 18th chart-topper "Touch My Body", she was also quick to put her accomplishment in perspective.

"I really can never put myself in the category of people who have not only revolutionised music but also changed the world," she said.

"That's a completely different era and time ... I'm just feeling really happy and grateful."

On a personal note: To me, Mariah Carey is like       Anita Baker, Rascal Flatts, Luther Vandross, and Chicago.  Just about everything they sing, I love.

Who are your favorite singers?  And what do you think of Mariah's milestone?

Was it just me, or did it seem like on Tuesday night's edition of "American Idol" people who were great singers were booted off; and some who couldn't sing well got to stay?

Are the judges looking for more than vocal talent?

Oprah Winfrey is getting her own TV network.

Today, Discovery Communications and Winfrey announced a deal where the Discovery Health network will be turned over to Winfrey next year, becoming OWN — the Oprah Winfrey Network.

The cash-free transaction involved Winfrey turning over her Web site to Discovery, while the communications company makes her chairman of the network, which is currently seen in 68 million homes.

Some of Winfrey's stable of regular contributors could be expected to be part of the programming.

Winfrey's current talk show  is spoken for until the end of the 2010-11 season.

People who love Oprah say she's a great philanthropist, businesswoman, talk-show host, and does some amazing charity work.

People who dislike Oprah say she's out-of-touch and her shows are self-centered.

Which camp are you in?

A New York State newspaper is reporting  a number of entertainers were named in connection with an             Albany-based steroid investigation, but they are not part of an ongoing criminal probe.

The Times Union of Albany cited unidentified law enforcement officials in reporting that R&B music star Mary J. Blige, rap musicians 50 Cent, Timbaland and Wyclef Jean, and award-winning author and producer Tyler Perry may have received or used  performance-enhancing drugs.

Law enforcement officials have said evidence does not indicate that the celebrities broke the law, but that investigators are focusing on doctors, pharmacists and clinics that provide the drugs.

If it's true, what would an entertainer need steriods for?  Would it be for endurance during their performances?

How many of you will be searching inside that walk-in closet, instead of searching a mall for a gift.

I've never done it, but my  mom has been proudly doing it for years.

But, is it right?    What's the correct way to do it?

Will you do it this year for anybody on your gift-list?

Just after Christmas, my brother, his wife and their two kids are coming down for a four day visit.  They've already been to Disney.

I can't wait to take them to Universal.

But I also want them to see a side of Central Florida that most tourists have not seen.

Any ideas about tours, and museums, off the beaten path?

Thanks so much!

I was watching the FOX show "Mike and Juliet" today.

The had American Idol finalist Blake Lewis hooked up to a lie detector test, asking him a series of questions.

When asked if he ever hooked up with anybody from the show he said, "yes".

The person running the machine said that he was being truthful.

Blake said it's true, but wouldn't give details.

Who so you think the human beat box artist hooked up with?

Hi everybody, knowledge REALLY IS power. As the 5pm co-anchor/reporter here at FOX 35, I learn something new each day from the people in our community who share their stories, opinions, and experiences. That's why I love journalism, and what we do here at the station. With these blogs, I hope we can learn from each other, share information, and grow from the diverse viewpoints around Central Florida. So, as I'm doing in this picture: sit back, relax, and blog away! Thanks so much, Mike
