Hi everybody,

You can find it the Candidate Matchmaker here on myfoxorlando.com.

Just click on "You Decide 2008" and you'll see the matchmaker in the upper right-hand corner.

It only takes a few minutes, and is very interesting.

Compare your position on key political issues with the presidential candidates.

After you're finished, please blog about whether you agree or disagree with the match-up.

Happy Blogging,

Mike

1. Hunter
2. Thompson
3. Huckabee (too bad I don't believe a word that comes out of his mouth)

Hey rexsmom,

Thanks for checking out the matchmaker.
Were the results what you thought they'd be?

I know I agree with Hunter on many issues. My reservations with Thompson are not issues on the matchmaker. Huckabee's words are entirely different from his deeds. When there's a discrepancy, I go with the deeds. Yeah, they were about what I'd expect going from the questions asked. A lot of issues that are important to me were not on the quiz.

This "matchmaker" seems flawed. Some important issues are missing from it. Others that aren't are simplified to a point that makes them hard to answer, as the issues are complex and multi-faceted. Still others are just plain biased or baiting. "Allow churches to provide welfare services?" Nobody's prohibiting them from doing so now -- the issue is whether or not they ought to get federal tax money to do so, which no self-respecting church ought to expect (they should do God's charitable work out of their own pockets, expecting nothing in return, just like Jesus Christ taught). "Allow free trade"? Many people might say "Of course," but phrase that question differently -- "Allow unregulated trade that sends jobs overseas and brings poisonous products into the USA?" -- and you'll get a different answer.

I agree Sensiblejoe, the matchmaker questions are not structured to the real question it's asking about. A play on words, only the most keen of political individuals can read the true meaning of the questions.

As for accuracy I would grade it a 60%... which is a failing grade in most states.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for checking out the matchmaker.
Yeah, it's not perfect. And the only criticism some of the people in my story had, was, the questions weren't as nuanced or specific as they would have liked.

But, overall they liked it, and thought it was fun and interesting.

Not surprised by results...Rudy, Duncan and Fred...

Duncan Hunter was first, followed by John McCain and Romney. Clinton and Obama were last.

I've taken similar online matchmakers, with the same results. It's funny how often people get Hunter first or second, yet no one seems to give a damn about him. Few people even know who he is.

It's a shame that he will likely slip through the cracks, unless he gets a sudden spurt of popularity like Huckabee did. It would've been nice for me to actually vote for a candidate I actually supported, rather than for "the lesser evil" just to keep Hillary or Obama out of office.

Duncan Hunter came out on top for me. No surprise considering my conservative views.

What was more interesting about this survey is that I played around with the answers to achieve a 100% score with Hillary. If the basis of this survey is accurate, her platform is very scary.

Give it a try and you will see what I mean.

What is really scary for me is I was matched up with Richardson. I am actually independent with majority republican views (so I thought). Either that or Richardson is part of the wrong party lol.

Hi everybody, knowledge REALLY IS power. As the 5pm co-anchor/reporter here at FOX 35, I learn something new each day from the people in our community who share their stories, opinions, and experiences. That's why I love journalism, and what we do here at the station. With these blogs, I hope we can learn from each other, share information, and grow from the diverse viewpoints around Central Florida. So, as I'm doing in this picture: sit back, relax, and blog away! Thanks so much, Mike
