Why we can't drill, explained by the liberals !  Some of the statements and excuses seem devoid of all intellegent thought or reasoning.  From the Democrats : Even if we permitted drilling right  now ofshore, the oil companies couldn't as there is a shortage of drilling equipment . All of the oil rigs are currently leased and there is a shortage of drill bits.  This statement might satisfy a poorly trained  or educated chimp. Is it not possible to build a  " new " oil rig or manufacture a  " new " drilling bit ? Wouldn't that mean more skilled jobs, taxpayers, and taxpaying bussinesses  as well ?

It has been mentioned that the potential for spills can damage tourism. We have bad hurricanes. Have you ever seen those little globs of oil wash up on a beach ?  These statements are truthfull, but I believe they bear examination.  What are the worst spills attributed to: tankers, barges or pipelines ? I believe that tankers and barges routinely hit bridges and run aground, fact. But if you drill closer inshore, couldn't you transport crude through a pipeline,  like something similar to the one transporting  avation gasoline and kerosine from TAMPA BAY to ORLANDO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT ? No earthquakes here or offshore, right ?  How many spills or leaks from that pipeline have you heard of ? Oil globs on the beach. I won't deny that thats not possible. But how much is carried by ocean currents from other  locations  ?  How much is from tanker ballast water transfers ? As far as tourism, if you can't afford to do anything at your planned destination because of the effect fuel costs have had on everything, would you still go ?

The OIL INDUSTRY says that they can pump crude within 18 months of finding it. WHERE DO CONGRESSMEN AND SENATORS COME UP WITH  A FIGURE FOR 10 YEARS ?

As a further note, the term " liberal " applies to the " lice " in both parties. It just seems the Democrats carry more around !

I had not heard that one but it is very funny , as anyone who has ever driven a truck or worked in any industry remotely related to oil well knows drill bits break all the time and off shore rigs are built by demand you don't “rent” a goblin ! It must be built and placed , I did see that funny old fart that Fox news has on in the evening demanding to know why the oil company's are not drilling in the “10 million acres they already have on leas” ...for you reads who are posed to ask the same question he is talking about dry holes and “hard finds” those are places where oil has been found to be ether in small quantities or to deep to be affordable to drill for...but IF you like the idea of oil at $200 a barrel we can drill those places ! LOL
What I want “liberals” (of all stripes) to explain is why the Atlantic should stay off limits now that China is drilling 22 miles off our coast ? We are now protection NOTHING so why should we sit here and wait for them to start selling oil to us that we could be making for ourselves ?..and for you “tree huggers” fact is we are the cleanest oil producers in the world China has a terrible environmental record...we would do far less harm than they will !

BTW last time we where in this exact same place (end of Carters days) the oil industry was producing less than the stated 18 months after they received the go ahead ! It is a mad dash to get oil into the market before the price drops to help pay for the cost of drilling in the first place.....ummmm DUH !

Heres what I find funny. We are currently not allowed to drill, or even prospect, for oil off the coast of Florida, yet the Chinese and the Cubans will soon be doing so.

The reasoning behind the ban is that we are too concerned about Florida's beaches being ruined, and that it will effect tourism. So what are we going to do if China or Cuba cause a huge spill on thier platforms? How are we going to hold them accountable? At least if it was our mess, there would be hell to pay. Does anyone honestly believe that we could hold the Cubans/Chinese accountable for any environmental accidents THEY cause?

It Doesn’t take 10 years for thr OIL Companies to start producing Oil..
It takes an AVERAGE of 10 years from the time the application for the lease is submitted to the time production starts..SAME thing for refineries and Nuclear Power Plants..

The VAST majority of that time is spent jumping through Government Hoops,,GOING to COURT for EVERY frivolous whacked out environmentalist’s challenge, Environmental IMPACT Studies and the like..

AS USUAL..The Democrats,, If FORCED to do something that THEY don’t want to do will make it as difficult as possible..

They HARP about it taking TEN Years but they DON’T tell you that it’s ALL BECAUSE of THEM that this is TRUE..…

Wow, those are some mind-numbing reasons.

This kinda reminds me of the argument against the FairTax. The one where they say that the cash registers couldn't handle printing up a bill like that.

A government set up to be Hostile to Oil Production is REFUSING to lift a Moratorium BASED on the argument that the Oil Companies will NOT drill where the GOVERNMENT allows them to..

BIG Surprise that the Oil Companies are SAYING that there IS no oil where the Government wants them to drill....

Dems like to keep people poor, it makes them easier to control. Don't forget Gov. Crist is also against offshore drilling.

I think that it is Finally CLEAR to ANY and ALL that the once touted differences between the Pasties has become a thing of the past..

We have a Republican Candidate that's spending MORE time "Going After" disgruntled Hillary Supporters then he is "trying to hold ON to" the members of his OWN perty...

We may TECHNICALLY still have a TWO Party System in place but we ALSO have a MONOPHILOSOPHICAL reality CONTROLLING both of those parties to deal with...

Thanks for your comments all ! I attribute the political comments from our politicians , as there being hard-wired into the liberal PA system. The politicians are neither thinkers or doers, they are just a cheap tinny sounding speaker repeating someone else's message !

Day late Jim Christ is for off shore drilling now....go ahead call him a flip-flopper as for me I don't care as long as he is headed in the right direction , the beet red face of no less than 6 democrats on TV today attest to their commitment to never drill anywhere that there is oil ...wish I had got the name of the FAT senator who demanded that “Big oil” make meaningful oil production out of their current land leases before he will ever consider letting them drill any new wells! ....just way to funny from the same party that Vetoed the only attempt to open a new well in this country in the past 20 years : Bill Clinton 1996 ...every one say it together “Thanks Bill”

...fallow up on Christ being a Flip-flopper , better to flip when it is the right thing to do than to be a total FLOP and stand for it no mater how many Americans it puts out of work..Mr Obama!

Well, Charlie Crist is now for drilling off the coast of Florida. He is taking a real beating for it in the paper here. He changed his mind because of the price of oil, among other things. He is getting ragged big time.

They need to start drilling, and right now. The more they delay, the more we will suffer.

...Mis Obama ? You can call him senator if you like but based on his work record so far I am not sure he deserves that title. We probably have janitors in the senate that have accidentally hit the button while cleaning and voted more often than he has !

...not a bad point Sip , but I would ask does this apply to OBL ? Is he not human ? We think that it is OK to hate him because of what he has done but hating him is hating him for believing in ideas that are so reprehensible and heinous that we can't tolerate them , and I believe that he really does believe in them and he will not let them go....when it comes to Democrats I real and truly hate their ideas and if they will not let them go and truly truly believe things that are so wrong ...there is going to be some “splash over hate” sticking to them as well ! LOL
