I find this somewhat interesting; the 2008 Presidential candidates are using Myspace.com for campaigning.

The Democrats seem to be more popular in the myspace community; however the Republican Party is active as well.

Here are a few candidates that have a profile on Myspace (not all of them),

- Sen. Sam Brownback

- Jim Gilmore

- Mike Huckabee

- Duncan Hunter

- Sen. John McCain

- Rep. Ron Paul

- Mitt Romney

- Rep. Tom Tancredo

Candidates also have web video's posted on MySpace, along with YouTube.

What do you think about this new form of campaigning???

This is defiantly geared more for the younger voters, do you think this will make younger adults more active in the elections in 2008, and actually vote?

Haven't even heard of 1/2 of these people...and many will still be unknown before the primaries are over and they go back to what they were doing before the election-mania!

And if the young voters are getting their info off of myspace and utube, I hope they DON'T VOTE!!!

I think it's good that the candidates are going to social networking sites, becuase it's tough to get the young adults interested, and if you put your face on sites such as this which the majority of young adults go to daily it's about the best way to get yourself known, and not only that it allows the people to voice their opinion through comments and messages, even though they may not always get a chance to read it.

I think they can stick it where the sun don't shine...they're all a waste of space including on MySpace.com! Do you think if they don't get any responces they may get the picture....NOT....Why?....because they don't really care!

What my point is, the next president is going to need to reach out to the younger adults, and this is about the best and only way they will... and yes the younger adults opionions and VOTES do COUNT!
I am willing to guarantee you and bet money that the main candidates (after primary) will have a MySpace profile, and multiple campaign video's on sites such as YouTube, this is a new way for them to be heard, and win votes.
You have millions of people on MySpace each day, you would be stupid not to use this tool to get your name out their.

They now have their Commercial advertizing through the net, allot of these kids 18 - 20 are not mature enough to understand the difference between promises with lies when they hear what they want to hear all the while preying and counting on it! Let me ask you this: Does anyone of them request for the younger crawd to speak to their parents and other mature voters or even college professors or do research before really making any dicissions now....NO...Why?...because it's easier to exploit things to kids at their weakest points...the Internet.

It is a very good method to reach younger voters. You can include you message, and get viewed for free. It's a good strategy, and it is the best way to reach younger people. MTV get's a lot of political messages by the candidates, why not my space.

Yes, whether you agree with it or not, it's smart and like I said before I will bet on the fact that the main candidates who win the primary will have a MySpace profile, and not only that they will win a lot of votes this way, and will be able to use it as a tool to reach out to voters through messaging, comments, bulletins, video's, and they even have blogs.
MySpace does have mostly younger users as we all know, but I would say it's not going to be a target of 18-20, you have a large amount of MySpacer's well over 20, and into their 30's and 40's.
