I had recently bought a new car a few months ago, and had decided to finance it and I have never had a loan with this finance company, which is American Honda Finance.

I use online banking to pay my bills, and for those who do use online banking know about "e-bills",  which is when you can request the company you make payment  to send you your bill / statement via e-mail, verse sending you a paper statement in the mail each month. I love this feature, becuase to me it's nice to know you are saving paper, as it's pointless to me to have a paper statement when you do everything online.

Not all companies offer this, actually a good portion do not, and to me it's stupid of them becuase they would save huge money on paper and postage each month, and also it's much better for our environment to cut back on the amount of paper usage.

I think big companies such as the one I am talking about should have to offer e-bills to it's customers.

I just get so aggrevated when I see paper and things such as this going to waste.

What do you think? Should these big companies be forced to offer it's customers e-bills?

Accually a good portion of companies do offer that. What is really wasteful is the solisitation mail and junk mail...that is a big time waste!

Be careful with e-bills because unless you back everything up and your computer goes...guess what! Plus some only keep records for on line access for 6 month access so if you should have the need to go back any further it will have to come straight from the company prolonging the time for you to check things out...plus they can easily change you due date on you like some creditor's such as Sears...they are real bad about changing the due dates on you just to get that higher interest rate charge up on you!

It really made me upset when I called them and they told me no we do not offer e-bills, and I even told them I would like them to just stop mailing be statement and they said they could not do that, it's "automatically sent out".
I think all of these larger companies should be forced to offer customers a solution to paper statements, whether it's a option of not mailing them, or e-bills (via email).
I can understand a small company (such as a lawn service) not being able to offer e-bills, even though they could do it fairy easy.

If you are worried about your computer crashing, or loosing the info all you really need to do is back up the info on a flash stick, or disc and you will be fine.

YES, and I agree about all the JUNK mail, it needs to be cut back a lot, these companies need to be looked at and new rules need to be put in place... imgine how many tree's would be saved if we did something about this!
At least when you get junk e-mail you can have it go to a spam folder and that's about the end of that, and no paper or postage is wasted!

I just am someone who see's this is a big problem, and hate to see all of this paper (TREES) being wasted for NOTHING!
Instead we could have cleaner air, and more homes for wildlife!

yes, a good amount of companies do offer, but I have found a lot do not, more than I think is exceptable. I guess you could call them the stupid companies who do not want to save money, right? LoL

What I really would like to see is the fed's push these companies to do so, and pretty much make it manditory.

hmmm I like paper statements. If I am paying 19% interest I want that company to spend as much money as possible on my account. I'd actually take both if I could.

Sorry trees, but I also request them on recycled paper ;)

I have the same finance company for my 2005 Accord. For some reason, I thought they did offer e-statements. I'll have to double check. I do most of my transactions on-line as well and select e-statements whenever available. I don't need the clutter in my files, plus the company usually stores your info for months so if your computer crashes, you can still look up old statements.

Hey Mark, do you do online banking? ING is offering 4.0% interest for bank accounts. I already have a savings account with them (may switch to HSBC for higher interest rate). But for some reason the idea of internet banking makes me nervous. I don't know why since, like I said, almost everything I do involving finances is done online. In fact I only use a bank for the ATM maybe once a month. What do you think?

I finally got around to calling American Honda Finance today and they told me no they do not have e-bills, and that they cannot stop paper statements. I have written to the company and hope to hear back from them, I don't like getting paper mail, everything is online for me.
I do my online banking with Bank of America, they have the top rated online banking, they beat it all by a long shot.
I am not worried about who has the best deal, I get the best of the best with the bank and the reason is becuase I might work for the company lol I do have money in on other bank, but I keep that a secret lol

I would love to have my car loan with my bank, however BOA is not really into the car loan business and offer a high rate, even with the associate rates, so that's why I did not go to them, as a lot of associates don't becuase of this.

I am going to get to the bottom of it, and find out why a company (HONDA) who is so dedicated to being friendly with the environment is not offering e-bills... just doesnt make sense!
