So here's a question for you.....let's say Obama is elected President of the United States.
What do you think that will mean for the future of affirmative action?

What a beautiful thing. Only waited about 20 minutes. My dad told me they don't have early voting at all in my home state of Maryland and that lines are expected to be as long as 6 to 7 hours on Nov 4th!
Makes a little bit of a wait for early voting seem like a piece of cake in comparison.
Have you voted yet?

Would you like some help conquering it?
If so, I'm looking for you.
I'm working on a story about a new type of virtual reality therapy UCF offers to help adults with anxiety.
If you have a fear of flying, anxiety about speaking in front of large crowds, a fear of snakes, or anything of the sort....UCF can help you....and I'd like to feature you trying out their new therapy in my story.
If you're interested, please leave me your contact information.
We're looking to shoot the story sometime in the next few weeks.
Either blog me, or if you'd rather email me privately, drop me a line at
lauren.laponzina@foxtv.com. Thanks!

I have a confession....
My little convertible was on its last legs....so I traded her in for an SUV.
Yes, I feel guilty about driving a gas guzzler now. But, they're so cheap these days they're practically giving them away! I factored in the extra cost of gas over the next few years, and I still made out in the deal.
Besides, it was getting a little tough squeezing all my stuff, friends, boyfriend, and two dogs in my little two-door.
I promise to still use my eco-friendly grocery bag instead of plastic. Girl Scout's honor.

At UCF right now...waiting for former President Bill Clinton to arrive.
Hundreds turned out....very long lines....but luckily, not terribly hot today. The crowd seems to be enjoying themselves.
Whatever your feelings on Clinton personally/politically, tough to deny he's a dynamic speaker.
We'll be streaming his speech live right on this website if you're interested....

My younger sis works for a major department store. Does fashion and design work for them.... she called me recently and told me the CHRISTMAS displays are already going up!!
I haven't even gotten my Halloween pumpkin yet!
I love Christmas as much as the next gal, but when will this insanity end?
Will we start celebrating the day after Easter next year?

Politics aside....you have to admit....it's pretty funny when Sarah Palin introduces her hubby Todd as the "First Dude" of Alaska.
That always makes me laugh.
Love her or hate her....she's definitely something different.

A pretty cool 'day at the office' for me....
I'm at the airport right now, waiting for Senator John McCain to arrive.
I get to ride in his motorcade today to and from his town hall meeting at the Puerto Rican Association.
Lots of secret service security sweeps and checks and double checks. My photographer will actually be right next to the wing of McCain's plane as he walks out.
Pretty neat stuff.
You can catch my behind-the-scenes reports about my day in McCain's motorcade tonight on Fox at 5 and on Fox 35 News at 6.

Wow! What a difference some sleep makes. No more waking up at 1:30 am anymore for yours truly. I'm sliding over to anchor the 5pm and 10pm newscasts on the weekends with my good pal (and now co-anchor) Keith Landry.
Thanks for all your emails asking me where I've been. I'm here! Just anchoring different newscasts now...and so much more awake! :)
Maybe I'll see you out and about in the evenings now catching dinner or maybe a movie. My, how I've missed that!
See you on Saturday and Sunday evenings!
Thanks again for all the emails....

Yes, it's the OTHER tax time.
Did you get your property tax bill yet?
How bad is it?
Or -- since property values keep falling, did you catch a bit of a break this year?

What are some of your favorite inspirational quotations? I used to have one emailed to me every day. It really helped re-focus me on the task/day at hand, keep my eyes on the goal, and helped drown out all the detractors.
I'll go first:
"The higher we soar, the smaller we appear to those who cannot fly." --Nietzsche
What are some of your favorites?

So what did you think? Was it the defining moment the Democrats were hoping for from her?
Did it "soften" her image as pundits thought was the objective?
Why do you think in 2008 it's still so important for a first lady to appear "soft" while her hubby is fighting to look as tough on the issues as possible?
Why is a smart, educated, self-assured woman still such a threat to the average American?

Think she should get a "get out of jail free card? How should the authorities handle this one?
foxnews.com:
Lawyers in the U.S. are wondering how to deal with a weighty problem.
A woman is accused of killing her two-year-old nephew but prosecutors in Texas do not yet know how to get her to jail and court — because she weighs nearly half a ton.
Mayra Lizbeth Rosales, from La Jola, Texas, is bedridden and weighs nearly 1,000 lbs.
But she cannot get through her front door to be taken to jail and, later, court.

What irony, huh?
Three years of renting....no hurricanes hit Central Florida.
I buy a house....and BOOM! Hello Tropical Storm Fay!
Figures! Ha!

Do you watch this show? Do your daughters? What do you think about this?
One of the 14 girls who will compete on the new season of America’s Next Top Model – which returns to The CW on September 3 – is transgender. “My cards were dealt differently,” Isis, a 22-year-old former receptionist, tells Us Weekly exclusively in its new issue, on newsstands now. Hailing from Prince George’s County, Maryland, Isis identifies herself as “a woman born physically male.”
Will she be a role model? “I like to help people, but I’m here to follow my dreams,” she tells Us.The inclusion of Isis is being hailed by GLAAD president Neil Giuliano as “an unprecedented opportunity for a community that is underrepresented on television. “We applaud Tyra Banks and The CW for making this historic visibility of transgender people possible,” Giuliano said.
