Would you like to hear a few more facts on felons and firearms?

There is a federal statute that says if you are a convicted U.S. Felon you may not own or be in possession of a firearm.

Thats it plain and simple. Now here is where it starts to get interesting.

Each month the various police and sherriff's deputies in the orlando area arrest convicted felons who at the time of thier arrest were in possession of a firearm. and yet since Local Authorities cannot charge a person with federal crimes these people never or rarely get charged. Don't look to our guys the problems usually with the Federal system

Mostly the reason is that the federal authorities either refuse to accept them or make the paperwork burden so great our guys do not want to bother with losing the time it takes. You migh be further interested to know that in EVERY SINGLE JURISDICTION where it has been tried cooperation between local and federal law enforcement on this one single charge has resulted in violent crime reduction in the 25-40% range.

No kidding all they have to do is enforce one single law, already on the books, and thus already thier duty to enforce for this kind of reduction.Of course there can be no plea bargaining and since federal sentences already do not release early 5 years means 5 years

Project Exile in Richmond VA is the premier sucess story It worked so well that Police soon began to notice that they were arresting drug dealers with dope but no guns When asked why no guns they asked the cops if they were crazy .............seems they didn't want to do 5 years and knew they could plea the dope locally.

But there are others that have tried modified systems with limited success. The typical Politicians attitude of why leave something alone if it works.

Want crime reduction in Orlando?  Get on thier backs and do not get off until the US Attourney and The federal and local law enforcement Agencies begin to protect you the way they have proven they can elsewhere.

I'm a pretty normal guy. A conservative and a bit old fashioned. Ready to change my mind if presented with verifiable facts to justify doing so...............A U.S. Navy veteran of the Viet Nam Era ( No in-country Service ) I find my mind tends toward practical Solutions. My reason for posting is to call attention to the things I think are important.I normally read between 7-9 news sources a day so I rarely will compose my own items preferring to take advantage of the enormous availability of public sources. If you do not care to read the LOOOOOOONG Posts then by all means don't do so . There's not much annoys me as much as an unsubstantiated accusation or an unverified claim.............. If your only argument consists of a pocket full of I wishes and a basket full of it ought to be's or If your strategy is to change the subject or make personal attacks because of your inability to argue the merits. Please do everyone a favor and sit down and shut up, or post to the entertainment blog where such tactics belong...................
...............I would urge you to remember that The politicians work for you......................
..... I believe that the campaign contribution system is nothing less then Legalized Bribery. It is after all, An elected Official accepting Cash from a citizen (although I must concede that every one of the politicians will swear to you that people do it expecting no payback. wink, wink, nod, nod) Good Governance from our employees will only be achieved when Politicians fear for their continued employment more than they lust after Campaign Contributions
