That was just amazing to me. How does anyone walk into a hospital these days and walk out with someone else's baby? Where is the security?

That mother and father had to have been terrified and who can blame them? Did this woman cut the hospital i.d. bracelet off the baby? How on earth did she just walk out the door?

And did you see the woman? You gonna sit there and tell me that the security guards couldn't stop her? Did they even try? If they couldn't prevent that woman from walking out the door with someone else's baby, then they need to find new careers, because obviously they aren't fit to guard anything as precious as newborn babies.

You gotta give props to the cop that finally nailed the woman. Right place, right time, and he did so with no one being harmed. Good job.

I am just flabbergasted. Hospital security is top priority, or it should be.

My eldest daughter just had my first Grandson in January, at Memorial Hospital in DeLand. Their security system in the Maternity Ward is truly outstanding. Not only did Baby Connor have an "alarm bracelet" on his ankle, my daughter had one on her wrist that matched his, ad so did my son-in-law. If any of those bracelets were removed within the hospital, or if the BABY'S bracelet went too close to ANY OF THE DOORS on that floor, a screeching alarm went off, and all the doors locked simultaneousely. My son-in-law, Jason, accidentally went too close to one of the doors while carrying Connor before he was discharged, and OMgoodness! WHOOOP-WHOOOP-WHOOOP, and people came running from every direction. Poor Jason just stood there, with his mouth hanging open, bloodshot eyes (from being up, during the labor, of course)as big as saucers, not knowing what was going on. NOBODY is going to snatch a baby from THAT hospital, and make if off the floor! There is no excuse for laxidasical security when it comes to protecting babies at a hospital!

Deborah, my first grandson was born last month at Fla Hosp on 434. Same thing with security. Even if he was in the nursery, and my son-in-law or daughter went in, they verfied the braclet on them and the baby, even though they knew them!

Even going into the area where the rooms were, you had to be "buzzed out". They made sure you were not taking a baby!

How in the world this could happen truly amazes me!!

ps Deb...know your grandson is as handsome as mine!! (10.01 pounds, 23")!!!!! They already have 2 girls, and are DONE!!! GOT MY GRANDSON!! WOOOOOHOOOOOO!!!

FlaNative, I thought mine was a chunky monkey! He weighed in at 8.0, at birth, but gained 3.5 lbs in his first month! Good ole "beeboo"! (breast milk) If the "Almighty Webmaster" has approved it, there should be a pic of him in "my pics." Lots of XXXOOO's to those babies, from THIS Grandma!
Signal, THAT hospital IS a scary place! It ranks up there with Memorial Hospital at Orange City, with the most incompetent, understaffed, bottom of the barrel, bunch there is. Not to mention the "high class" clientele that graces their emergency rooms, instead of getting themselves a G.P.

Deborah and FLNative, I have ten grandchildren. My last two 'chunky monkey's, both born in Altamonte were whoppers. One weighed in at 10 lbs and the last one was 8 15, might as well say 9. The 'baby' born in Nov. now tips the scales at 18 pounds. He is an eating machine.
