One word ... ROCKED!!!!!!

I have been at Nail Salon, a Sports Bar, at lunch with friends & even here in the newsroom in the past couple of days & that's what EVERYONE is talking about!!!

I don't think London (who has the next summer Olympics in 2012) will even come close to that amazing Opening Ceremony!

I loved the 2008 drummers and their "dead on" synchronization.  Especially when the field went dark and they lit up their drumsticks!!!  Incredible!

I thought the boxes were cool ... neat suprise when it turned out to be people in those boxes!!  They creators said they practiced that portion for 4 months (8 hours a day) and never got it right - until Friday night!

The story of the little boy walking with Yao Ming was as inspiring as the spirit of the Olympics.

The way they lit the flame with the torch runner on a wire and running the full length of the stadium up top before lighting the cauldron was unexpected.  I'm sure that wire lift took a lot of training !!!

Did you watch the opening ceremony?  What did you think?  What were your favorite parts of the spectacle?

i loved it too! awesome! we had a debate on whether or not there were people under the boxes or it was mechanized. i felt there were people inside continuing the trend of the rest of the night... but i wasn't 100% positive. it was fun to see them come out of the box at the end. the whole thing... very cool.

It was awesome...particularly the part where they tried to use fireworks to hide how crappy the air was.

So far, despite the fact that I NEVER watch sports, since my kid is a competitive swimmer who met a lot of team USA at her swim camp this June, we've been watching the swimming.

Michael Phelps ROCKS....and the freestyle relay match against France...FREAKING AWESOME!!

It's amazing what a totalitarian regime can do with unlimited funds, 1.3 billion robots and stolen technology. Adolph put on a pretty good show in 1932 as well didn't he?

Bottom line? To me it was every bit as disturbing as it was impressive.

THE BIRD NEST IS A SIGHT ! I EXPECTED THE FIREWORKS TO BE A SHOW : CHINA GAVE THE WORLD FIREWORKS . THE DRAGON KINGDOM STILL HAS ISSUES WITH HUMAN RIGHTS BUT IS TRYING TO REINVENT ITSELF TO THE WORLD . I THINK MOST FELL FOR IT . MAYBE THIS WILL ALSO OPEN A LITTLE MORE FREE THOUGHT THERE .

Ummmmm-when was it on LOL??? Jkng-didn't really watch it because I'm not an avid Olympics fan--the rest of my family is totally and completely absorbed in the TV since the opening ceremony!! Just means I get a TV all to myself now--WHOO HOO!!!

I watched most of it (only because Stargate Atlantis wasn't on because they could never compete with the Olympics in the ratings) and I loved the same things. What a brave little boy he was. The opening ceremonies ROCKED. I'm glad now I watched what I did. I know Kenny Armstrong, Laura Wilkinson's diving coach. Back when we moved into our house in 1992, they had the house behind us (he and his wife Patty) and we had no fences up at the time. After they had their first child, they moved, but we still exchange Christmas cards and I have seen her little ones grow up in them. So I tune in to support them. They were awesome neighbors.
