A national survey shows gas prices have dropped a fraction below the $4-dollar mark.

The average price of regular gasoline at self-serve stations was $3.996 a gallon Friday.  Prices are at their lowest level since May 16 and are an average of 11.7 cents less per gallon than two weeks ago.

Still, the survey showed the average U.S. price for gas is $1.11 higher than it was a year ago.

Do you think gas prices will keep falling?  Will we ever see gas cheaper than 3.50 again?  Blog it here.

And we act so relieved and grateful when you see 3.80 gal. That is what is pathetic any little penny makes us feel so hopeful and all they are doing is dangling carrots until the election.

I don't like carrots. I'd settle for a little cheese however.

I read somewhere that they were predicting 3.50 a gallon this fall. Weather it will happen or not, I have no idea. It's nice to see it go down instead of up. I think it has something to do with President Bush lifting the presidential moratorium. I think the future of oil, weather it goes up or down is dependent of what Congress does at the end of September.

I agree with others.
Please dont expect all of us to join the news staff in clapping for gas prices falling to the 3.80 mark.
There are alot of people out there that cant make it with food and gas going up double in as many years!

Agreed please dont expect us to join the morning news staff in clapping this morning to the few cent drop in gas prices.
How about we save that for when it goes to the level that we are comfortable with again.
Is the news staff really happy with gas and food prices double to what it was only a few of years ago.

The damages have already been done! People are losing their jobs, their business, their homes, their usual spending habits that keep things going! Because of the major increases with fuel prices, the problems all started from that point on and has caused the damages of the economy and has messed with peoples income going against all the price increases that was also caused by the increase of fuel cost. Even if the cost of fuel decreases...the damage is already done! It will take a lot more to get things right again!

When gas shot up to over a $1.00 a gallon..during our "Gas Crunch" did the price ever get back down to under a $1.00 gal. NO. What makes anyone think that fuel prices are going to go down more? The oil big wigs have made record profits! They are NOT going to give up all that extra money! We will be lucky that the price hovers at $4.00 gal. It will NEVER get back down to $3.00..I will bet whatever I have left on that!
Or country is run on GREED 101, there is no fairness, Its who can bilk the American public the best..without getting caught. And if they do get "caught"...then its, turn to the government to bail them out!
And where can "we the people" go when in hardship? NOWHERE, to bad, so sad....but vote for me ...so I can figure out new ways to mess w/ good ol American Public. It's sickening, and disgusting, and a never-ending scenario.
Just VOTE THEM ALL OUT!
