Happy Independence Day everyone. I hope you're having a great holiday weekend.  I am proud to be an American, like you are.  I think today is a good time to ask what can each of us do to make America better?

What will you do in the next year to make America better so our children will still be proud of the country we leave them?  Blog it here.

By honoring the Constitution and exercising my constitutional rights enshrined in it, however unpopular that may be with the current administration or the latest groupthink. Without the Constitution, America isn't America, no matter how many lapel pins politicos and talking heads wear.

I think it is important for each of us to do one thing a week at the least. It could be a volunteering at a local childrens hospital or school as a mentor. I got more out of reading to 2nd graders (my peers) than they got. It was fun and it allowed me to help kids in need that would have been under the radar... poor families, living conditions, abuse etc.

While I have the resources to soon help the poor minoroity areas of central Florida to change that culture away from crime and poverty , each of us can do something. They need blood donated, drivers for meals on wheels, Senior shutin help, etc.

My latest thing is sending those Magic jack phone calling devises to US troops all over the world and in the IRAQ theater. I adopted a Marine Battle Company featured on ABCNEWS in Korengal Outpost. Guys who are in the fight each night. It is so cool to have the technology to call home for free each night when they are at the base. Didnt cost a lot... just sent 20 magic jacks to them and www.magicjack.com said they will help me if I get more.

SO regardless I try to do one good thing for someone each week.

Im with RandyLoo,
Vote them all out!
Truthguys...it is commendable that you can help in those ways, but not all have financial resources in this failing economy, some of us are struggling real bad.
I try to keep a happy outlook on things and bring a smile to others as im out and about.
Hubby helps by coaching Little league, which really can be a headache, as those "people" in charge, are just as bad as our politicians. But i think he does it to keep himself from going insane, being on disability is not a "fun" life to live.
but yes we should all take pride in our communities, and get involved, and one sure fire tiny way is......to educate ones self of issues at hand, and then excercise your RIGHT to vote.

I think if the Founding Fathers could see what has happened they would be leading a 2nd Revolution.

...if the founding fathers could have looked into the future and seen today , they would have skipped the “judicial branch” of government all together and written 6,000 pages (or more) to regulate the “legislative branch” of government !

I want to organize a billion man march for positivity. The scientific truth of unity, knowledge and personal enlightenment. Don't be a pessimist, Don't play victim. Lets take back the constitution and get rid of the unconstitutional income tax.
I want to build a utopia, to get in you must climb the wall by proving an understanding and ascension from a Machiavellian philosophy. The Naturalist standpoint is only a perception one can outgrow..
I want to watch the bohemian grove elitists get a bomb dropped on them under their satanist owl. Creamation of care happens this month.
I want BaBa's theory of conscious evolution to be taught at the same time Darwin's scientific theory and ignorant creation is taught. It might help the theory of creation to have a somewhat scientific understanding. Finish with some FSM.
I want integrity taught in school. Only way I know how is to teach golf. I have southern pride, but am very against the whole "If u aint cheatin, you aint tryin" attitude. I feel its degrading.

Thanks Jim , I lost hope and packed it in over 2 years ago...I have not had a need to work in over 10 years (I can live on what I make in rent on my other house if I am careful) I just could not see my running a company as anything other than “community service” and it added up to a lot of work for me just so that I could provide work for a few other people (I never make enough to be impressed after all the bills / taxes are paid) ...I just could not take the score that I get from my employees, they all want to know how much I get paid but non of them want to hang around and see what is left after all the bills are paid !

I think I'm going to start a non profit to promote better public transit and smarter commuting in Orlando. I want to educate people on the alternatives, as well as see that our politicians enact laws making it easier for those who commute in alternative means. I'm doing some research now to better educate myself first. This is a topic near to my heart.I hope others are interested either way, I'll post some info here as I get.

Truthguy ~ Good for you, that's an awesome thing to do. I think more people need to do things such as this for the troops. Put some more info up on a blog so those of us interested can help out.

I used to volunteer at some soup kitchens to help the homeless.

As for the rest who think voting is a charitable act, it's not, it's your obligation. So find something else to declare!

I don't have the patience to deal with kids, more power to you! They are cute but annoying.

I had thought about setting up a non-profit money laundering operation, but I found that there are already too many of them.

At one time I thought that my service in the military was helping to improve our country. And over the years I have done a bit of volunteering for charities such as meals on wheels and have donated to such charities as the Shriners' hospital and St. Judes' hospital in addition to helping raise money for them.

However, probably the most important thing that I can think of to effect/improve our country is to vote in all elections after researching the candidates and issues.

I can only imagine what our ancestors would think if they could see the way our country is today. For all that we have fought and died so hard for people just seem to take it for granted. People come into our country and don't want to do anything to help our country but expect US to learn their language, they expect our goverment to give them benefits when they have done nothing to earn them and now our country is suffering because of it. I have to wonder where our country is headed and how would our ancesters feel today seeing how things are today? We really do need to take OUR country back!!!

They would have revolted already.
The wars have been diverting attention from the Reserve and its massive profits.
The same people that own the bank of the US are the ones that sent us diving into the depression the first time, initiating the central bank.
Margin Loans? BS corporate greed. The system is the devil's lasso.

To make this country better, this year I am going to teach children to be good stewards of what they are given, how they live their lives, and how they treat others. Adults are so quick to be negative about everything that's wrong with the United States and kids hear EVERY WORD. They adopt this negative attitude and sense of entitlement. Think about it this way...if everyone over the age of 18 died suddenly tomorrow, would what we've taught our children make our country better? Or, would the state of affairs continue the downward spiral started by us?
