MY CRAZY NEIGHBOR

I'm in a bind. My crazy neighbor is playing with fireworks and I'm afraid he is going to catch my house on fire. I've called the police and even confronted him about it but he won't quit it. My safety is on the line. I feel like my only option is to just beat him up and make him stop before he hurts someone. I don't want to but the police won't do anything so what else can I do? Any advice?
