Shouldnt kids who miss orientation or anything important for their first day of school get some type of health?

Ok, I'm now going to Pine ridge highschool as a freshman. I have no issues of any sort.Now, orientation for the school was Last thursday,I was never notified about it. You where allowed to purchase lockers, get your schedule and take a tour. This school is huge, I will have no Idea where to go, it is a two story school. Now

 

Last night my dad called the school principal and tried to find out about orientation, it was thursday he was told. He asked if he can go and get my schedule and buy the locker and also get a map and a free tour. Well principal said I can not. But aug. 15th 10th-12th get to get theres.

 

What am I to do?

I know alot of other kids who have missed the orientation, I even asked a few friends and they have said they where never notified, So I was wondering, what could they do to actually take care of the new ones and help them!

Did your dad tell the principal that you weren't notified?? That's awful!! What does the principal suggest you do? Wait until the first day for your schedule?

Welcome to public schools. The principals and staff are always rude.

He didnt ask!
principal said in direct words
New comers going to this school can only get their schedule and tour on that thursday.

It is the parents job to find out about orientation. If the school contacts you than that's wonderful, but it isn't their job. Don't sweat it though. Just show up early the first day and go to the office. Notice I said go early.

As you said, you aren't alone in this problem. They are used to this. They won't leave you hanging if you make an effort. Just don't take the victim role and wait for them to come to you and fix this problem.
