An off-duty Miami-Dade Police Officer, Jeffrey Janish, was in police uniform and driving his police cruiser when he was pulled over and arrested Monday, Dec. 17, for driving under the influence.  He was speeding and swerving from lane to lane on the Florida Turnpike.  According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office booking center, Janish's blood alcohol level was about three times the legal limit.  A Miami-Dade police spokesman said Janish has been relieved of duty with pay pending the investigation.

I can not read these reports of officers like this without wondering what possessed  him  to  get into this  circumstance.  It only takes one officer to screw up to make his or her entire unit look bad in the eyes of the people he has sworn to " Protect and Serve."

Three times the legal limit? WOW!

We need protection from those that are supposed to be protecting us!

Another bad cop?

In todays society they out number the good cops 10 to 1.

Its rare to find a honest cop these days just like an honest politician..... oops I dont think there ever has been an honest politician. lol

Ohhh we can feel the love for the police here...

Face it there are good and bad people in every work place. Its sad to see a police officer with a drinking problem, but it happens.

How would you like to have a job were all you see is people at their worst? Constantly gloom and doom every day. not knowing what the next call will bring you....

Im not going to defend this officers actions and he was clearly breaking the laws he was hired to keep. but please keep in mind Cops, Coppers, the brass, ect. are people too and will make mistakes.

a little trivia: the words Cop, Copper & Brass. Came from the days when the officers uniforms had brass badges & buttons.

Bad cop? naah, its a cop with a drinking problem that needs to be addressed. As with any agency if an officer commits a feloney they are fired and prosecuted for the full extent of the law.

DUI is a misdomienor, and would be grounds for dismissal or suspention.

As for the statement bad cops out number the good 10-1 is a false statement.

every agency has good and bad, Its been my expeiriance that the good cops out weigh the bad. 80%/20%...

As for an honest Polotician? LOL, thats a good one they are the true crimminals. they lie, cheat & steal, and best of all we vote them into office knowing the will renig on their promises....

Cops are people too. They can be drunks, rapists, child molesters, or in a recent case here, a thief and a gambler.

The difference, is that it could affect far more people than a civilian with the same problem(s).

Therefore, it is just that more reprehensible.
