You may remember the incident back in late June when several Orlando city vehicles had been vandalized by someone spraying anti-Obama messages with spraypaint on them.  The vandal, or vandals, left behind some "business cards" with political ramblings printed on them.   As a reminder, here are pictures of both sides of the cards below:

Side 1:

Side 2:

Keep in mind, this was in Orlando.

Well, imagine my surprise, while biking home from work from DeBary to Orange City, via Volusia Ave, when I found several more of these cards scattered along the side of the road.   It makes one wonder.   Could whomever had vandalized the vehicles in Orlando have been passing through my area?  Maybe he lives there?  Or, could it be possible that he may be planning to vandalize more vehiceles in my area?   Maybe he was just trying to get rid of them.  Who knows?

Still, I think its something I thought I should make you aware of.   Maybe we'll get lucky and the guy will get caught this time.

Cool I never saw what was printed on the cards before, but are you sure its a “he” ? I would not put it past someone as obviously insane as this person to be of any gender ...the “I am single girls step up line” is really not much of a hint to actual gender. I would risk stating that this individual is between 18 and 22 years of age , unemployed and probably a student at a smaller community collage .

I was inclined to believe before that it was probably a single vandal, male, in his 30's, not really all there mentally. I doubt the vandals were a bunch of kids. I just don't see them printing these cards. It just *seems* like something a guy would print. I admit, though, that I'm no criminal profiler.

At any rate, I just finished talking to a patrolman from the Orange City Police Dept, who took my name and statement. More than likely, that'll be the end of it.

At first glance I thought the writer was not of primarily English back ground but after reading several times it looks more like the effect of pot smoking and heavy text usage that has influenced the eclectic way this car was assembled. As far as printing the card looks like it was printed at home on a computer...how thick was the card stock ?

J, Right here by us? That's Outrageous! I wonder who's printing those? Where about were you North or South of 4 Towns? Just curious!

The card is a standard sized, 2 1/2 inch by 3 inch card, and stiff. I'm getting the impression he had these printed at home, though. I would think that most businesses would've raised an eyebrow at a request to print something like this, or at least have contacted police after the cards were found the first time.

I don't know where 4 Towns is, I don't get around much. ;) I can just tell you that I found the cards scattered sporadically on the sidewalk around the city limits between Orange City and DeBary (if he was driving on the road, he would've been south-bound).

I tried to see if I could find more of the cards this morning on the way to work, but it looks like either the police gathered them up, or the morning maintenance crew got to them. I gave 2 of the cards to the officer, and kept the last one with me. Guess I should've grabbed more of them the first time.

Oh, I almost forgot! I heard on the radio this morning that the suspect has been named by the Orlando Police. The name is "Cort Mershon Rinaldi". Here is the story from the Orlando Sentinel:

Suspect named in vandalism to dozens of city vehicles
Bianca Prieto | Sentinel Staff Writer
3:23 PM EDT, July 10, 2008
The vandal who spray painted nearly two dozen cars at a city parking lot has been named.

Cort Mershon Rinaldi, 43, is wanted on a criminal mischief charge and the only suspect in the June 28 vandalism case. At least some of the damaged vehicles were owned by the city of Orlando.

Rinaldi, of Lake Helen, is suspected of tagging the cars with spray paint and leaving some vulgar anti-Barack Obama messages. The motive for the crime is unknown, police spokeswoman Sgt. Barbara Jones said.

Anyone with information about Rinaldi's whereabouts is asked to call CrimeLine at 407-423-8477 .

I guess the guy's days are numbered.

See and when I said I had never seen KIDS with a political agenda, I was mocked and degraded so much I couldnt leave my house for a week.
SOMEONE owes me an apology.

Not me, I'm on YOUR side. ;)

Looks like I was mostly right about the guy myself. I had guessed he acted alone, and was middle aged, though I guessed in his 30's, so I was off a few years. It hasn't been confirmed yet, but I still think the guy is deluded. Intelligent, but deluded.

J, 4 Towns is right there where 17-92 meets Enterprise Rd, by Haynes Bros Furniture Store.
Awww, Swan! They didn't use the correct likeness of you? What a sham! We need to paddle SOMEBODY! Just grab the first kid you see, throw him over your knee and beat his little fanny! He'll probably just figure something else he did finally caught up with him!

Ohhh, right there... I live right by the intersection too. Feel kind of stupid now. I guess its one of those places that if I'm not actually looking for it, I don't see it.

On a sidenote, I found more of the cards yesterday by Wendy's and Cycle World on Volusia Ave. I wonder just how far the cards are scattered?

Some people to call it that, it's an "old" name for it, sorry! Wow, I know right where you mean. I'll bet some one is casually chucking them out their window as they drive by there, ya know?
Off this subject, but were you living there 2 years ago, this past Thanksgiving when that crotch rocket T-boned the truck coming out of Wendy's? The boy on the bike was my friend's son.

I don't think so, Deborah. I was transferred there in Feb 07, a couple days after that tornado hit DeLand, so I haven't been here very long. I don't remember hearing about that incident, though it sounds terrible.

I live up there too...I've have to keep my eyes open for more cards. but maybe there's no point since they caught the guy. I assumed he was male since the card said "Ladies I'm Single" and "Some Girl Step Up"
interesting that the intials on the card "C.R." match the suspect.

Its funny, its as if the guy *wanted* to get caught, doesn't it? Like he wanted some kind of notoriety. Not only did he leave the cards everywhere, but he left his initials on both sides of the card.

Still, while the guy was caught, they still need to prove the case against him in court (even though I think we all know he did it). The location of the cards might help provide his wherabouts at some point. Who knows?

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature, and has no chance of being free unless made or kept so by the exertions of better men than himself." -John Stuart Mill
