When you get right down to it...OBAMA isn't acting Presidential at ALL..

He's JUST doing with the Financial Crises what Pelosi did with the Energy Crises...

RUN AWAY FROM IT..

IGNORE it..TRY to EXPLOIT it...TRY to DISTRACT from it.. ANYTHING  for his OWN POLITICAL GAIN..

Once again,,The Democrats show how they DEAL with a CRISES that THEY THEMSELVES created..

The senate is drafting the single largest bill in American history and Obama is willing to stay far away from it , he has made speeches about what he says it “must” contain but he is not willing to actually be a part of the fight to draft this thing. So it is obvious that as a “leader” Obama is willing to just go along with whatever every one els says.

The funny thing is that this debate is on foreign policy AND is scheduled for this week when North Korea has started up its nuke program / Iran's president has again declared war on Israel:America and Russia is on fleet maneuvers in our back yard...All of those make this debate McCains big day while on the other hand Obama talks about the economy all the bloody time but never wants to get down to the facts.

(1) The Democrats didn't create this crisis. Years of radical Republican deregulation and a culture of greed and lazy money did.

(2) Obama hasn't run away from it. In fact, thanks to him and some likeminded colleagues in Congress, protections for common folk and oversight of the law have been introduced into the bailout plan. Bush wanted a bailout that gave $700 billion to whomever the Secretary of the Treasury pleased, with no responsibility, no accountability, no legal recourse, no public record. (Read Section 8 of the original bill -- such imperial pretensions in a democracy ought to send a chill down your spine.)

(3) Third, Obama has it right. The President of the United States has to be able to do more than one thing at one time, and he's proving he can. John McCain is looking like a deer in the headlights while his vice presidential candidate is nowhere to be found, sequestered protectively from the media. What's McCain going to do in a crisis? Suspend everything else in his presidency to deal with that one thing? Obama has shown himself to be a much cooler, calmer thinker, as opposed to McCain's knee-jerk reactions and fact errors on the spot.

Fact: The 2008 Republican Party Platform declares:

"We do not support government bailouts of private institutions. Government interference in the markets exacerbates problems in the marketplace and causes the free market to take longer to correct itself."

This platform was voted on and approved by all GOP delegates and signed off on by John McCain less than a month ago at their convention in St. Paul, Minnesota

(Continued)

Why then, less than one month later, are the Top Republican in the White House and his secretary down at the Treasury Department trying to rush through a $700 billion bailout of Wall Street and investment banks, without any oversight, responsibility, accountability, legal recourse or public record? And why is the "Maverick" jettisoning the policies of his own election platform with such knee-jerk Chicken Little "the sky is falling" pathos?

The more one reads up on this "crisis," the more it stinks like one big swindle. Perhaps this is our "September surprise"? An intentional diversion from the election to retard momentum? A last hurrah for the good ol' boys who didn't make quite enough off Halliburton and company over the past eight years, just in case they take a drubbing in November? Or perhaps an exercise in economic "scorched earth policy," a la Cheney and Rove? "Doesn't look good for the GOP winning, boys, so let's make sure we leave 'em with the biggest, most expensive mess we can!"

Somewhat on topic with your post, Hawk, let me expand another avenue of demcratic behavior:
I'm a WHITE American. Had I been born black, hispanic, korean, or any other race...

I would be truly insulted by the antics of democratics. The liberals, in a most earnest way, are trying to buy your votes. How? Well, they carefully try to extend a feeling of "belonging," to minorities....but is it genuine?
From the Carters, to the Clintons to now Obama; minorities are nothing more than exploited pawns for the democratic party. This party goes to great lengths to keep the downtrodden, down, all the while putting on the act as if they're trying to help. With a variety of antics such as Affirmative Action, and the lot, they are more or less saying you aren't equal, that you cannot do for yourself unless the white man reaches "down," and extends his hand to bring you up to "his level."

In other words, they're establishing a level of incompetence to your race, and only ol' whitey can fix it. Remember, I'm white writing this. Democrats have a way of keeping the poor, poor; and that' the way they prefer it. Why? Because they'll keep the flame of "hope," alive in you. If they really are change agents, why not use the word "success?" Wait, success is an ugly word democrats use against Republicans. Many white democrats want minorites to progress, however, not to a point where they cannot be your "saviors.' That would put them out of a job. Republicans want all to succeed, color or race is a secondary issue. Democrats want to keep slavery, AA, and every other "cr

"crutch," in play so they can justify their cause of being the savior....well, if minorities really want change, really want to break the chains of the past and kick out the democratic crutches put in place to keep you crippled, Vote McCain. Realize from within that you don't need a crutch handed to you by the whites, that the potential lies within, and being that this is still America, land of opportunity, take the bull by the horns and make your own success.

After all, Democrats spout off endlessly about helping minorities....and yet what do they have to show for it? A bunch of mediocre programs designed to keep minorities imprisoned to them.....for their OWN job security.

Wise up Blacks, Hispanics....whoever you are. Don't vote for Obama merely because he's black or half black...he's not an agent of change, he's an agent of the democratic way of bondage that's held you below any level that you could achieve via your own self-potential.

joe says - "The Democrats didn't create this crisis. Years of radical Republican deregulation and a culture of greed and lazy money did."

So because the dem/libs didn't cause the crisis, it's OK to keep on campaigning and ignore it? Wow.

Anyway, you're at least partially correct. Much of the problem has been caused by greed and lazy money. No doubt, the big shots played a big role. However, generations of welfare families (Democrats voter base) demanding more and more taxpayer handouts have played a part as well. Another big part has been those who thought that the housing boom would last forever, took out crazy adjustable loans, then acted surprised when their payments went up $200/mo.

As far as B. Hussein Obama actually doing something about it- like 'splain to me exactly what he is doing? He hasn't taken a breath between campaign rhetoric long enough to change shrts, much less actually roll up his sleeve and do what he was elected to do as a US Senator.

you are so full of it the problem was started when clinton and greenspan changed the banking rule that were put in place in 1929 after the stock market crash which kept banking and wallstreet apart. even Bill Clinton today said that the dems block rep attempts to fix this problem years ago.....grow up

Why are you insinuating that I'm a hypocrite? And yes I was making a Republican jab because this blog is full of partisan puppets of the republican variety. Papa Bear would be proud.. This mess was rolling for years, Dodd and Franks made it worse...WITHOUT A DOUBT....but none of these politicians had the foresight (or desire) to avoid it. and the word, I think I was trying to use is basstterds... So what? that thin skinned? Paulson today: "This isn't socialism. This is necessary!"

You were wrong, truth. These dupes will say anything, no matter how stupid, to make a jab at democrats. Even while their own party is flip flopping faster than we can keep up, these idiots just keep opening their mouths and spouting lies and propaganda.

The truth: Republicans have been destroying the country for the past eight years and their time is over.

Joe, FYI: The headline of The New York Times on November 13, 1999 was CLINTON SIGNS LEGISLATION OVERHAULING BANKING LAWS.
Go search the archives and read that article.

This week, Dodd, Frank, Maxine Waters are doing a CYA to blame the GOP for Fannie and Freddie. But IN 2003, when the Bush administration wanted oversight, Congressman Frank said everything was just fine.

Just last year Barney Frank admitted his goal: give mortgages to everyone (even if they can't possibly pay them back) and curb CEO pay.

If the Dems could pin this on the Repubs, they'd have already started official hearings and investigations.

Isn't it ironic that the very people that complain about McCain voting with Bush 95% of the time ARE THE FIRST ONES RUNNING TO DADDY!

Not only are they looking for Bush, but WITH a majority in BOTH House and Senate, the democrats are UNABLE to pass this 700Billion deal on their own?

I thought Democrats had the vision for America! I thought Republicans NEVER had the insterest of the little people. I thought Democrats were going to come in and CHANGE Washignton!

Well I guess we have our change alright...

In times of crisis, Democrats like Harry Reid don't realize its STUPID to stand before the world and pronounce that "We just don't know what to do." OMG!! YOU'RE FIRED!!! GET THAT MAN OUT OF HERE!!!

BTW- Reid yesterday snuck onto a bill some legislation to block any chance of getting oil out of shale in the midwest.. a day after the good faith of letting offshore drilling mortorium expire... What a PIG!!
