When travelling  major roads here in Central Florida, whether it be I-4, I-95, Beechline,  when coming up on exit ramps and a driver sees those large signs hanging over the road way, there's one in bright yellow  that says "Exit Only" whether it be in the far right lane or far left lane.  What does that mean? Does it mean it's the only exit for that particular direction and that lane doesn't end. I think not. The sign means you must exit, but I guess people need to have it spelled out for them.  I was on I-4 earlier today and I was in the 3rd right lane of 4 lanes and almost got taken out because the driver that was suppose to exit at the last second decided to switch lanes into the lane I was in.  It wasn't like he didn't have enough time to make his mind up. There were two signs over the road indicating this, exit only with an arrow below it.  I guess people now days are oblivious to things beyond the boundries of their vehicles.  The driver of this vehicle did have Orange County tags on his vehicle. Needless to say, I was just a bit ticked off because I have no idea how the driver behind me kept from rear ending me. But I see this just about every day.

Probably too busy texting or talking on the phone to pay attention to their driving!

I though in Fl it was keep right unless to veer across 3 lanes of traffic cause you can't decide where your going 5 seconds earlier.

I didn't realize that drivers other than me ever paid attention to anything.

It's also illegal to use your directional signals for anything. New legislation is being introduced that would require that new vehicles not have turn signals, and that all other cars be retrofitted and have turn signals removed. It's because old turn signal bulbs are filling up our landfills at an alarming rate. They are also going to do away with headlights, we will now have glow in the dark front ends. While they are at it, they will be eliminating street lights and will be making street signs that you can't see anyway even smaller. But wait, there's more . . .

On south obt. there are about 3 signs ahead of the turnpike entrance, but i still see people pass it and attempt to back up to it in the right hand lane . some even put their hands out and flag cars around them

For one thing, in possible defense of the driver here, because I have had it happen to me, especially if you don't use those "elevated roads" (I-4, Expressway, etc.) but every blue moon, I know I RARELY do and the last time I was up on I-4, construction and signs were misleading, I was in a lane that said "exit only" that came up a ways back, so I moved over, only to find the sign was wrong and the lane continued on, it WAS NOT an exit only at the time, so of course the next time I got on the road, almost a year later, I recalled the lane did not exit and it had went on, despite what the sign had stated a year before, so now I'm in a lane and now it does exit and it's not my exit, but I WON'T get back over UNLESS it really would be clear and safe to do so, I will exit, turn around and find another entrance to get back on. But this is why this may happen, not saying it should happen, but road crews need to make sure the signage is right at all times too, many times IT ISN'T!

I moved here from Indianapolis in 93, but I'm originally from Elizabethtown, KY which is about 40 miles south of Louisville. I spent eight years in the Army as a Military Police Patrolman then went into investigations and eventually working undercover drugs for a couple of years leaving the military with a Honorable Discharge as a Sgt/E-5. I now live in the Dr. Phillips area of Southwest Orange County. I got tired of the cold, snow and the ice and 50 degrees does not qualify as cold. I'm an avid University of Kentucky Fan who likes the outdoors such as fishing, horseback riding and going to the beach. I love Florida and what it has to offer.
