With all the complaining of energy consumption in this country, price of gas at the pumps & so on, why hasn't someone in the State or Local Government haven't come up with a plan to time traffic lights. Yeah, a few months ago, County Commissioners were going to pay a consulting firm big bucks to study traffic problems on Conroy-Windemere Rd by the Millinia Mall. You don't need to be a Rocket Scientist or pay some firm to figure out the problem. It's the traffic lights. Not a one is in sequence with the other. You catch one you catch them all. Same with Sand Lake Rd at I-4. And there are others. 436 and I-4 in Altamonte Springs, S.R 414 in Seminole County. I've called numerous times wanting to complain about the situation on Sand Lake Rd and I-4 but no one returns my calls. Typical of the Local Government. They don't care. Problem on Sand Lake Rd is, if you're travelling on I-4 East and want to get off at Sand Lake Rd & make a right turn you aren't permitted to make a right turn on red, even with the short exit ramp, But if you're travelling West on I-4 getting off at Sand Lake Rd. one is permitted to make a right turn on red even with a mile long exit ramp. The problem here is that people are making right turns on red blocking the travel lanes of Westbound Sand Lake Rd. by people wanting to make an immediate left onto Turkey Lake Rd. The other problem is from International Dr to Turkey Lake Rd. there is 4 traffic lights within a half mile of each other & not a one is in sequence. Common sense would tell someone in charge of this mess, to keep traffic moving, traffic lights need to be in sequence. Could this be why so many people in Central Florida run so many traffic lights.

In Virginia Beach, 15 years ago, traffic light were syncronized down a few major roads. If you cought the green light, and did the speed limit, you would catch green the whole way down...about 20 light. Worked incredibly well. Is Orlando that far behind in planning? Take a lesson from Virginia and get off your butts. Another poor planning job was central Florida Parkway between John Youn & OBT. The city completely took out a turn lane to 2Banks and a Child Daycare center. Now, when the light turns green everybody that wants to get into those facilites must make a U-Turn. This is horrible planning. They even left the sewer lips higher than the road which caused flooding. I guess they finally got the word..but it took calliung the news for action.

Don, PLANNING in ORLANDO? what have you been smoking? I want some! there has NEVER been any serious evidence of planning, either in Orlando (the city ugly) or orange county. the officials just grant whatever idea for growth pays them the most. then cries when it turns and bites them in the culo!

There is no long term planning in the city or county. Everything is basically done half a*s.

Its done half aXX so they can hire friends at an absurd amount to study the problem and come up with a solution that will need restudying again in 2 yrs to fix the solution that they came up with in the first place. LOL...

in the UK and europe and Australia etc we have roundabouts that replace lights, just give way to someone on your left and it keeps the traffic moving smoothly.
we'd save millions of bucks in electricity ...

I moved here from Indianapolis in 93, but I'm originally from Elizabethtown, KY which is about 40 miles south of Louisville. I spent eight years in the Army as a Military Police Patrolman then went into investigations and eventually working undercover drugs for a couple of years leaving the military with a Honorable Discharge as a Sgt/E-5. I now live in the Dr. Phillips area of Southwest Orange County. I got tired of the cold, snow and the ice and 50 degrees does not qualify as cold. I'm an avid University of Kentucky Fan who likes the outdoors such as fishing, horseback riding and going to the beach. I love Florida and what it has to offer.
