Why is it most cannot seperate the two?
Why must faith always have to have the backing of a religion to prove worthy of any attention? Doesn't faith in GOD / WISDOM / POTENTIAL justify the means?
A man told his grandson: "A terrible fight is going on inside me -- a fight between two wolves. One is evil, and represents hate, anger, arrogance, intolerance, and superiority . The other is good, and represents joy, peace, love, tolerance, understanding, humility, kindness, empathy, generosity, and compassion. This same fight is going on inside you, inside every other person too."

The grandson then asked: "Which wolf will win?" The old man replied simply:  "The one you feed."  Anon.

bullet"There will be peace on earth when there is peace among the world religions." Hans Küng.

bullet"The pursuit of truth does not permit violence being inflicted on one's opponent." Mahatma Gandhi.

bullet"Lasting peace will come only from a profound understanding of violence."  Leland R. Beaumont

I personally feel to each his own, but also feel what is wrong is wrong. A persons spirituality is only the concern of said person, as is their responsibility. We have a right to show the light, but ultimately it is up to them. I have a fond respect and faith for, and, in the ethical wisdom of man, and anything more turns a blind eye.
Why negate the specifics rather than embrace the spirit in its diversity? Why hate?

A persons spirituality is only the concern of said person as long as they keep it to themself.

Once they display it on a public blog, such as this one, it is open for discussion/disagreement.

The more lines people draw separating each other only negates our true nature of being.

"True religion is not about possessing the truth. No religion does that. It is rather an invitation into a journey that leads one toward the mystery of God. Idolatry is religion pretending that it has all the answers."

John 14:
15"If you love me, you will obey what I command. 16And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— 17the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

Do you disagree with my interpretation of embracing the truth? Embracing the Spirit?

Ah! "Which wolf will win? The old man replied simply: The one you feed."

Glorious.......

Are we allowing others to feed themselves The Word of God or are WE trying to force feed them????????????

May I add, that such discussion and disagreement should always reflect the Golden Rule of Christ (see my blog). This is where we are lacking and lingering too much in the flesh, in my opinion. Too many use scripture to bash others, and that is NOT the purpose of God's word. Jesus walked the earth and He interacted with people in many ways. He did did not just spout scripture non-stop..... Matter of fact, Jesus never quoted more than three scriptures at any given time. The disciples never quoted more than five. That should give people food for thought when they just spew scripture. Perhaps, they should drop their "flesh agenda" (always trying to prove their point as right) and engage in thoughtful discussions and apply scripture when appropriate. I always tell my congregation "Before you spout, be sure to recite to yourself in the mirror". Funny thing when you have to apply it to yourself first....... :+)

I guess the point I was trying to make with the passage is that the truth is all around us, and don't lose yourself to tunnel vision...

The Tale of Two Wolves is an Ancient Parable. I believe I first heard it from my Grandfather as a child. He and the family emmigrated from Czechloslovakia shortly after WWI ended. He was a Tool Maker, a neighborhood "Healer," a Shaman and a Born-Again Christian. While stationed in Spain in the 1960s I heard it, again, from a Priest in Toledo. Then, in a Browning, Montana Sweat Lodge, as a Blackfoot
Indian "Two Spirit" or "bernache" told it to us new Blood-Brothers of his Father, The Chief. Even Aesop kind of implied this lesson in his Fable "The Ass and His Masters," The Moral: "He that finds discontentment in one place is not likely to find happiness in another." There are similar tales by other cultures with Grandfather Bear as protagonist.

"In Matthew 6:24: it is told: "No one can serve two masters, because either he will hate one and love the other, or be loyal to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and riches ... " I believe GOD leaves Wisdom out in the open in many places and Peoples for those who SEEK to FIND. IMHO Thank You For Your Indulgence

Very interesting post and comments from all. Thanks for posting something that makes people think out of the box, Gorilla!

Tunnel vision can be a dangerous and ugly thing. Good analogy. :+)

I think the way "church" is set up today, can be a distraction. Some churches are lost in "religious" ceremonial acts of worship, that came from none other then man..some churches are a gathering of the local country club, filled with sinners just like me, but pretend they are perfect, some churches are filled to capacity but empty in faith...some churches are out there reaching the poor, the hungry and widowed... I believe many people become linked to the congregation in different ways, and tend to have a community faith rather then individual faith. I think also, that people rely on the pastors or elders, etc, to be and live that faith...I fear people have missed that part where Jesus wants that "personal" relationship with each of us. And I believe people stop persuing that relationship at certain points, and that is when it becomes stagnant and then pushed on to others responsibilities. When your faith is in Jesus..you can worship at home, in your car, on the street, in your pool, or at church. If you are showing up to church to get faith...you missed something along the way!

Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way....no one comes to the Father except by ME".

If you disagree with that, then, according to Jesus, you are wrong.

But, one of Murphy's law says "if you explain something so clearly that it is impossible for someone to misunderstand, someone will."

Dear "G"

There "IS NOT Separation!"

The Very Laws that Protect YOU... came from A Religion!

YOU Shall NOT Steal....

YOU Shall NOT Murder....

Etc!

What more do I need to say? Study OUR American Laws, and you will find Old English Law, and The Bible for most laws!

Thanks, Roger459.

The difference between a Priest or Pastor and a Shaman is this. The Priest/Pastor tells what and how you should believe ... he leads you, Pulls along, you might say, like a Shepherd, Right?

Now, the Shaman tells me "This is the Path I have followed. I will share this path with you and tell you what I have learned, until you are able to find your own way and continue where I have yet to go." Sort of like Moses upon arrival at The Promised Land.

For Me. I do not care much for Shepherds. A Shepherd may lead one to water or food or safety, or to be sheared or slaughtered or danger; depending upon the Path which he has been lead.

My Grandfather took me along as much of the Path he had traveled as he could while he was alive.

He was in an industrial accident in the Tool Factory where he worked. Shrapnel from a exploding machine riped into his leg and he was knocked unconscious when he fell. He was taken to hospital, where DOCTORS administered to the wound. They didn't clean the wound well enough, resulting in Gangrene setting in.

At that time he had a wife and 12 children at home, so couldn't lose a leg-this was in the 1920s. So, he ministered himself with herbs and homemade medicines he'd learned from HIS father. He lived 30 more years on that leg.

When he died, they did an autopsy on him and only the shinbones, etc., and stringy bits of muscle covered with dark, dry parchment-like skin was left of all of that leg. Doctors marveled at it and told us they did not know how in heaven Grandfather could have endured such excruciating pain which they believed he

(Continued)
Doctors marveled at it and told us they did not know how in heaven Grandfather could have endured such excruciating pain which they believed he must have felt.

He never bathed in the bathtub, but only in a special sink in the basement, to protect the rest of the family. He attempted teaching me some of his mystery medicines, but my Father and him did not get along (Grandfather was my Mother's Father). I wish I had had the opportunity to learn more. But that Story of Two Wolves and other things and stories I did learn has made me look differently at this World. IMHO Thank You For Your Indulgence

That is where you are wrong.

John 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

As for other religions, just go to the middle east and tell them islam is not the truth.

You would lose your head, and literally!

I have nothing against Islam.
In most cases I agree with it. Radicals are on both sides of the fence.
The oneness of the divine creator is a universal aspect of conscious being. Whatever the label it is the same concept.

Lisa your right, GOD wants a personal relationship, community support is just a bonus.

I do not doubt the bible's message. It is the same message in every other religion. Arming ones self with truth to go to battle loses the SPIRIT of the message.
Unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final say in our reality. MLK

The message is much more profound with self-realization than from an authoritative standpoint.
Seperates the teachers from the tellers.

And just what did Jesus do? HE walked the Walk, before He talked the Talk. HE didn't just TELL Disciples, They followed the Path together, didn't they? HE told them 'even the least of you' can do what HE did, by showing them, i.e., performing miracles, which ALL the Disciples are reported to have done. AND, A True Christian is considered to BE a person who WALKS in the footsteps of The Christ, not FOLLOWS, isn't that true? The Christ within you is The Path to Redemption. Moses LEAD and was GIVEN the Ten Commandments. But Jesus came to clarify THE LAW and claimed to be the PATH or WAY. Who do we admire most? One who is Christ-like. Thus, Jesus fulfilled the requirements of both methods of Religious and Spiritual Philosophy. IMHO Thank You For Your Indulgence

Simple Answer!

... "WWJD?".... Does that DIDDY.... Presuppose The Absence of JESUS.... Or His Presnece???

Perhaps a reading of... James 1:22 & Luke 6:46 will answer that Question!

Thanks, Roger459.

You have no need to argue your position Roger.
Sola scriptura I understand.
The passages answer the questions for you.
The scripture answers the questions for me.
