Sorry, Fox, but I got this from another blog. I thought it important enough that it should be repeated. I AM giving credit to the person who wrote it, though.
What is a Veteran?
Some
veterans bear visible signs of their service: a missing limb, an aged
scar, a certain look in the eye. Others may carry the evidence inside
them: a pin holding a bone together,a piece of shrapnel in the leg, or
perhaps another sort of inner steel: the soul's ally forged in the
refinery of adversity.
Except in parades, however, the men and women who have kept America safe
wear no badge or emblem. You can't tell a vet just by looking.
What is a vet?
He is the cop on the beat who spent six months in Saudi Arabia sweating
two gallons a day making sure the armored personnel carriers didn't run
out of fuel.
He is the barroom loudmouth, dumber than five wooden planks,
whose
overgrown frat-boy behavior is outweighed a hundred times in the cosmic
scales by four hours of exquisite bravery near the 38th parallel.
She - or he - is the nurse who fought against futility and went to sleep
sobbing every night for two solid years in Da Nang.
He is the POW who went away one person and came back another - or didn't
come back AT ALL.
He is the Quantico drill instructor that has never seen
combat - but has saved countless lives by turning slouchy, no-account
rednecks and gang members into warriors, and teaching them to watch each
other's backs.
He is the parade-riding Legionnaire who pins on his ribbons and medals with a prosthetic hand.
He is the career quartermaster who watches the ribbons and medals pass him by.
He
is the three anonymous heroes in The Tomb Of The Unknowns, whose
presence at the Arlington National Cemetery must forever preserve the
memory of all the anonymous heroes whose valor dies unrecognized with
them on the battlefield or in the ocean's sunless deep.
He is the old guy bagging groceries at the supermarket - palsied now and
aggravatingly slow - who helped liberate a Nazi death camp and who
wishes all day long that his wife were still alive to hold him when the
nightmares come.
He
is an ordinary and yet an extraordinary human being a person who
offered some of his life's most vital years in the service of his
country, and who sacrificed his ambitions so others would not have to
sacrifice theirs.
He is a soldier and a savior and a sword
against the darkness, and he is nothing more than the finest, greatest
testimony on behalf of the finest, greatest nation ever known. So
remember, each time you see someone who has served our country, just
lean over and say Thank You. That's all most people need, and in most
cases it will mean more than any medals they could have been awarded or
were awarded.Two little words that mean a lot, "THANK YOU".

Scam or ?

I received a letter in the mail today including a check. The check looks to be real! However, the drawbacks of this is that I have to contact my agent at an 866 #, then deposit the check. The check is to be used to pay processing fees for my prize that I supposedly won. It would be a GREAT prize, and a lot of help if this were real.
Being a suspicious person by nature, I called my children, and asked them what they thought. Two said immediately SCAM!
HOWEVER, using Google, I looked up the Company whose name is on the check. Douds, Inc. This company IS in the town of Plumville, PA. BUT, it is a FURNITURE store. Why would a furniture store be sending me money from winnings from Publishers Clearing House, Readers Digest, or a Lottery. Frankly, I have not entered any lottery in a long time. The lotteries I do enter are local (FL). I do, however, enter all Publishers Clearing House and Readers Digest Sweepstakes. It was REALLY TEMPTING to go and open a special account to put this check into just to see what happens. It was REALLY TEMPTING to follow the instructions to get the REAL prize.
I am writing this so that you know there are new SCAMS out there. I know about the ones from foreign countries, but this one was from PA & CA....
It is another one of those "BUYER or USER BEWARE!

I just got this in an e-mail today:

This was sent by a retired Coca Cola
executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Hall
iburton. If you are tired of the gas prices going up AND they will continue to
rise this summer, take time to read this please.

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't
buy gas o n a certain day' campaign that was going around last April or
May!

are going to hit close to $ 4 .00 a ga llon by this summer and it might go
higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down?
We
need to take some intelligent, united action.
The oil companies just laughed
at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to 'hurt' ourselves by refusing

was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a proble m for

thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can Really work. Please read

By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at
about $ 2.00 i s s uper cheap. Me too! It is currently $3.89 for regular
unleaded in my town, Seattle.
Now that the oil companies and the OPEC
nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP
at $2.50 - $2.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS
control the marketplace..not sellers.
With
the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take
action.
The
only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit
someone
in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT
hurting ourselves.
How?
Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying
gas.
But
we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price
war.
Here's
the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two
biggest companies (which no w are one), EXXON and MOBIL.
If
they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices.
If
they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow
suit
But
to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas
buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out on me at this point...keep
reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of
people!!
I
am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us send it to at least ten more
(30 x 10 = 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300
x 10
= 3,000)... and
so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have
reached over THREE MILLION consumers .
If
those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30
million people will have b een contacted!
If
it goes one level further, you guessed it...... THREE HUNDRED
MILLION
PEOPLE!!!
Again,
all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's
all!
(If
you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send
this to 10 people.... Well, let's face it, you just aren't a mathematician. But
I a m . so trust me on t his one.
How long would all that take? If each
of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all
300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8
days!!!

l bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you!
Acting
together we can make a difference.
If
this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest that we not buy
from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $2.00 RANGE AND KEEP THEM
DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK.

week, the UK removed The Holocaust from its school curriculum
because it 'offended' the Muslim population which claims it never
occurred.
This is
a frightening portent of the fear that is gripping the world and

Has anyone out there heard (or seen) anything on the News about this? Fox posted my blog about it, but have they run the video? The narrative? I have not seen it on ANY of our news channels, here in the Orlando area. Has anyone? Everybody wants to know the cause for our increased fuel prices. NOT ONE PERSON has thought about the real reason behind our outrageous price increases in the past years. It is called INFLATION! Here is the Definition of the word:
1.Economics. a persistent, substantial rise in the general level of prices related to an increase in the volume of money and resulting in the loss of value of currency (opposed to deflation).
In other words, our government is printing more and more money. The more they print, the less the value of same. If we, as individuals, were to do the same thing, it would be called illegal. Better yet, if you made money this way, you would be arrested! Yes, ARRESTED for making counterfeit money!
Here is the definition of COUNTERFEIT:
-verb
1. made in imitation so as to be passed off fraudulently or deceptively as genuine; not genuine; forged: counterfeit dollar bills.
–noun
3. an imitation intended to be passed off fraudulently or deceptively as genuine; forgery.
-verb (used without object)
10. to make counterfeits, as of money
If you have nothing to back up your paper, to my way of thinking, you are guilty of counterfeiting. There no longer is a heading on our paper money that states: Pay to the bearer on demand $(amt) in silver/gold. The only way you can find money like this is to go to a dealer who “sells” to collectors. The government took back all this money they could, and replaced it with federal reserve notes.
Since the silver and gold standards have gone away, and the federal reserve has seen fit to produce worthless money, our cost of living continues to go higher and higher. That is why the oil barons now charge us ~ $130/barrel for their GOLD.
We no longer have gold or silver to back up our paper money. Therefore, it is virtually worthless. If you, by some chance have a gold $50 piece, the going rate for that ounce of gold is NOT $50...it is more like $900... A silver dollar goes for around $15 today. Maybe even more. Check out the gold prices on the stock market. That will tell you how devalued our dollars have become.
Now, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that our government is spending more then they make, and therefore, our government is living like a lot of us do…on credit. Sooner or later, their credit will be called! And it looks like it is about to happen.
NO, don’t go blaming it on Republicans or Democrats, as this has been ongoing for a long time, and BOTH parties are responsible. The more bureaucratic offices they make, the more “NO VALUE” money they SPEND. Things have got to change, but where do we start?

You have all seen the news about the fires. I just have a question or two: What is wrong with people?
Why do they set fires? Think about all the people that are displaced! Think about all the property loss. In our area, alone, two houses were burnt to the ground! The people who owned them will never be able to replace their memories! Their furniture - GONE!
Their pictures - GONE! Anything they were not able to remove from their residence - GONE FOREVER! Not to mention the animal life that was or soon will be lost due to this horrendous act! Certainly, this was an act of pure LUNACY!
A car was seen in the area of these fires throwing something out the window. Almost immediately after, a fire started there. The car was a dark vehicle....dark in more then one way...This vehicle was dark as in it's and it's occupants aura....
