Walt Disney World, one of the most family-friendly places on the planet, announced that, Victoria & Albert's, a five diamond restaurant inside the Grand Floridian would no longer accept reservations for parties that include children under 10 years old.

We want to know what you think, is it ok to ban kids from fancy restaurants?

I think it's about time! We have gone to fancy and expensive restaurants for a nice, romantic, quiet meal and evening only to have an unruly child throw tantrums, ruining the atmosphere for everyone dining.

If the kid isn't the one paying, take him to McDonalds instead!

Of subject, Hey Fox_Nascar_Guy, I have a sister up north who is a big Greg biffle fan. Anything related to him would make her day if you know where to get it? Thanks-

i think its awesome! theres plenty of places on disney and off that still take kids (sadly). a place here and there that is helping to reduce distractions to a meal is very welcome. Cell phone bans are proboly next i can assume.

Why would you bring small children to a fancy restaurant? People need to start thinking, yes Disney is kid friendly however there is a time and place for everything. Disney does offer babysitting and the people who have enough sinc to use it should not be punished when they go out to dinner.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Disney is all about children! If you think about it realistically, there aren't many children younger than toddler age going to Disney, they're too short to ride the rides and won't remember the excitement! Why exclude the toddler/preschool members of our society instead of teaching them the correct behavior for the upscale restaurant environment? Take them to McDonald's as opposed to teaching them manners?, absurd. Parents need to be more hands on, children are little sponges that learn a great deal by example.

i think its outrageous!! and its a form of discrimination..this is america and everyone has rights especially to a public place..if you don't want to be around kids don't go to disney

Although Disney is a family friendly park, there is absolutely NO reason there cannot be a FANCY restaurant for a romantic meal without wailing or screaming children. Kudos to the restaurant for laying down the law and SHAME on parents who have forgotten the importance of GROW-UP time. I don't know a single person that would disagree with a place NOT intended for children especially when there are plenty to welcome them and all their GLORY with open arms. Offended parents need to get over it and themselves!!!!!!!!!

There are many upscale restaurants in the downtown Orlando area, you might familiarize yourself with some of the GROWN up ones. ;)

Like it or not, children do not belong everywhere (and the way some parents are raising -- or, rather, not raising their ill-mannered louts -- some do not belong anywhere). If Disney wants to try this new business model, all power to them. If you feel offended by it, keep you and your family home or spend your money elsewhere. The principles of supply and demand in a free market will determine whether or not this new venture succeeds.

Teach your young children good manners at home NOT on my time. I think there are enough places in Disney for children. I want peace and quiet. Thanks for not allowing them. I will make it a point to eat at your restaurant.

walt built disney from his imagination its all about imagination and having fun and its always been about family and kids there are numerous other restaurants people could go to i think walt would be rolling in his grave if he knew his dream place was banning kids!!!!!!

Here, here, Disney! I hope that all of the other fine dining restaurants in Florida follow Disney's lead. If you are going to plunk down $125 per person for a meal, you expect to spend an enjoyable evening free of unruly children. Take them to the playground at McDonalds and buy them a Happy Meal!

I am a mother of 4 children.
I think there should be a family vs. non family section in a restaurant. When I am out with the kids I prefer sitting near people with children, I don't risk disturbing them etc. they don't disturb me...I am too preoccupied with my own!
However, when we get a night out without the children I do not want to listen to other peoples children...sorry...it's my night out, I am sure people without children don't want to ever hear mine!

Excellent ... it IS about time!

Yes Disney is about kids ... as in Disney World! What child cares about a "boring" 5 star dinner?

A good rule of thumb ... the price of your child's should match the age of your child. I highly doubt Victoria & Albert's has any $5-$13 meals ... however you can find those prices at Longhorn Steakhouse. Or similar eateries.

Another thought is if there are no changing tables in the restrooms then it's a good clue to take the rugrats elsewhere.

Now if only the airlines would do something about screaming kids in the first class cabin.

I love kids ... however when I want to treat myself and my queen this has to stop somewhere. Am sure I am not alone here ...

There is always the option of staying at home if you would like peace and quiet. I am the mother of a very well behaved 5 year old. I am proud to take her to any restaurant, whether it be McDonald's or a 5 star restaurant. Are there not loud, rude obnoxious adults most places we go these days? Can we ban those, too please?

IT'S ABOUT TIME! I am so sick of going out for a nice dinner and hearing babies crying or toddlers fighting, screaming. Try teaching the kids manners at home, then take them to a fast food restaurant and make them sit quietly and eat their meals instead of running around wild. I LOVE IT, THANKS DISNEY.

I think it's a good idea. Some kids can get wild. But once again Disney good idea.

Am quite sure there are many a proud mommy and daddy of their lil precious mongrels. Tnhey will eventually turn into one in a boring 4-5 star restaurant.

Am alos quite sure there are plenty of great parents doing an awesome job with the children.

It's the parents who can't control their spawn.

bchans-
I do not agree that they will all turn into one, but I do understand where you are coming from. At Disney, this is probably the last place I would take my child, but banning them just seems inappropriate.

Ban the brats
lol

I think its great they did this.

Look at Disney Magic Cruise Lines
They have a deck for kids only and adults are not allowed on it.
There is a deck for adults that no kids are allowed on.

This gives the parents a chance to spend time without kids under their feet.

What is wrong with having ONE place that a adults can spend eating without a baby crying?

Kids have the rest of the entire park and if you think its wrong for Disney to do this, then dont go there.

My 2 year old is better behaved then any teenager you see these days. He eats and doesnt play around or anything. Im strict with him about this.
But I think its still great that they made it adults only.

It's not about kids being bad or good, which I get the feeling some parents are being defensive about. It stinks for all you good Mom and Dad's that raise your children correctly, teach then manners and discipline them because the parents who do not have sort of ruined it for you.....BUT to be fair to the kiddies...I do not know a single toddler or child under the age of ten that can sit through a meal that lasts longer than 30 minutes without some sort of outburst. And that has zero to do with parenting, they are kids, they are not meant to suffer through a long BORING dinner so take them to a fun place for crying out loud and the next night enjoy some PEACE and QUIET at Vicky and Alby's!!!! It is not about discrimination, it's just logical....I mean come on, think about it.

there's nothing worse than a screaming brat when one is trying to enjoy dinner. i think all restaurants should ban kids.

A 5 Diamond restaurant is not a place for children. The service is timed for adults having a relaxing meal. Children would get bored quickly.
Disney is no longer just for kids. There are many adult activities and events now. They have business meetings, conventions and schools for sports, culinary and other things.
They are a privately owned restaurant. They have a right to set whatever rules they want.

A fancy restaurant is not a place to teach children manners. Teach them manners at home. Why do parents think that everyone else should love their kids and put up with any inconvenience that they cause?

A fancy restaurant menu doesn't contain foods that most kids desire, so what is the point of taking them to such places? If children under ten are allowed, before you know it there will be a woman breast feeding an infant at the table next to you.

In France there are fancy restaurants that will allow patrons to take their dogs into the restaurant. Those dogs are much better behaved than many of the children that people have brought into restaurants that I have frequented. Probably because their owners spend more time with their dogs and are more consistent in their training. They don't depend on everyone else to train them.

I don't see the big deal with all the restaurants available to families. Why can't there be some that are for adults only? I think it should be 21 and over!

I think this is outragious, first of all Disney is for children. Five star restarants don't belong at Disney and if they choose to be then they have no right discrimanating against children. How would adults feel if Ronald McDonals said "No adults allowed". You were all children once...maybe still are
