Richard Wright of the rock group Pink Floyd passed away today at age 65. Wright was the keyboardist and wrote the song "Us and Them" which appeared on the 1973 album "The Dark Side of the Moon".

A sad day for Floyd fans worldwide.

Today, Pink Floyd fans are comfortably numb. I only saw them live once. It was the Delicate Sounds of Thunder tour at Tampa Stadium. Great show!

Two ways to know we're getting olde:

1. Our heroes are now being played in elevators

2. Our heroes are dying more frequently.

Hey, now Mr. Wright knows what the Dark Side of the Moon really looks like....

My sincere condolences FloydFreak.

I fail to see the sadness in the passing of any 60's or 70's drugged out so-called rock star. Most are victims of their own doing of the past 40 or so years. So what's the big deal??? The family might be sad today; why anyone else is a mystery to me.

I feel for you Floyd. Floyd is one of my all time favorite bands, I still have all my records along with the attached posters and stickers.

He is in the Great Gig in the Sky now.... One heck of a band up there.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, bozey. But I feel sorry for you.

'stangg: I saw them in Tampma Stadium in 1977 on their Animals tour (I still have my $8.50 ticket stub). Saw them twice on the '87/'88 tour - Tampa in October and Orlando the following April then again in '94.

So many great memories are conjured up while listening to their music - and, for me, that is what music is all about. I find it rather a shame that, aside from Dark Side, Wish You Were Here, and a few tunes from The Wall, their work did not get much airplay.

For a blast from the past, look for a tune called "Paint Box" which was written by Wright. It's on an album called "Relics".

You're right on, aschelan. Rock 'n' Roll Heaven.

Very sad indeed. I'm glad there is light on "The Dark Side Of The Moon"! "The sun is the same, in a relative way, but you're older, shorter of breath, one day closer to death..." Aren't we all!
You too, bozey. Isn't there some music YOU relate(d) to, something that touched your heart or made you think, when you were growing up?

Sorry to hear this, Floyd. I was a bit youngish to be a Floyd Freak and only know a few of their songs, Another Brick in the Wall and Comfortably Numb, Wish You Were Here but I can feel for you. I guess Boozey won't realize what a drag it is when our old favorites start to leave to this world but figure you'll understand when it's your generation.
I'm just a bit younger than Floyd, but my generation of music is much different. I know many of the 70s bands but mine was the 80s. In a few years, they'll start to pop off too. No pun intended.

I caught this thread a little late but this is a true loss.
Hopefully he is with "Several species of small furry animals gathered together in a cave and grooving with a Pict".(my personal favorite)

My condolences, too, Ol Buddy.

bozey45, I'm not much on Politically Correct and Sensitivity, and all that.  So, I won't lecture along those lines.  You would probably tell me to butt out, since you have never done anything "wrong" in your life.

I will just say to you what I am sure you heard your Mother and your Grandmother say TO YOU

. . . "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all!"

I am your normal, middle-class, "working Joe". But I am also a capitalist and believe that nothing good comes from socialistic entitlement programs. I believe in hunting down and killing terrorists like the little rats that they are (except that that statement is denigrating to rats). I grew up in a very conservative household and was fortunate enough to have had a conservative American Government teacher (a retired US Army colonel) who helped to show me the "right" way. Are there things that I would like to change? Absolutely. But NOT the kind of "change" being espoused by Hillarock Obaminton. I have lived in Florida for forty of my forty-eight years. I've been a big Pink Floyd fan since my teen years hence the moniker, FloydFreak. My friends call me Freak, Floyd, and FF. The libs call me a neocon. I wear that badge proudly. Please note that I enjoy engaging in spirited discussion - even with those with whom I disagree. There are a number of individuals on these boards whom I respect even if I DO think that they're out of touch with reality. Please note also that I do not tolerate personal attacks on my character. If you think that I'm full of BLEEP, you have the right to say so. But drag my character into the gutter and expect retaliation in kind with FloydFreak's own brand of sarcasm. Keep it civil and we'll get along fine. To those of you that see good in America and want the OPPORTUNITY for prosperity for all - and do not just seek to soak it to "the rich", I say God bless you. And God bless America!
