Folks, dont ask me why but one lunchtime  I was listening  to that bloated conservative

loudmouth Rush Limbaugh  who was saying -and I quote " the surge is working, AL queda is broken and in a mess and  we have hit them where it hurts and thier membership is dwindling"

then we have our "elected " government say =Al Queda is re-grouping, getting strong again, planning attacks....

HUH ! wha ?

I now scour the net  to get  any information  from various sources, as you cannot trust government and Limbaugh is always pro right wing.

As the late great John Lennon sang- All I want is the truth-just gimme some truth ...

"All I want is the truth-just gimme some truth ..."

Enlist and find out firsthand. I did and thats why I let people talk out their a**es. They only know half the story and formulate opinions on half truths and so-called reliable sources.

The only story you are hearing about is the ANTI-war side by the media, and that includes Fox35!! Heidi Hatch reports deaths in Iraq like it's a surprise. IT'S A WAR...unfortunately soldiers and civilians will die!! You always see the death, the destruction and the mayhem from the media. Why don't they send some of their "reporters" over and let them report some of the GOOD things were doing there? Things such as helping the economy to recover, building schools? Do you realize that even the Iraqi people are individually fighting the militants? Bet you didn't. Rush Limbaugh has had Soldiers, Enlisted & Officers call in to his show from Iraq and they are disgusted BECAUSE the media doesn't tell both side of the story! If you want to see some of what's going on in todays military...go to a site like "www.military.com" . How do YOU know the surge is not working? Are you or Have you been there? Because that is what you are told by the media? Oh, one other thing we succedded in doing, we REMOVED a man that killed over 300,000 of his own citizens! The LEFT is who is damning this war AND THE SOLDIERS that are fighting it!! If we had reacted to Germany the way the LEFT want us to react to Iraq, we would ALL be speaking German now!! And if your wondering where I get MY info, read my profile, I spent 12 years in the U.S. Army and was in Desert Storm.
God Bless Our Troops, And God Bless America!!!

Mustbenuts - Please share what you had experienced over there. I am always wondering what people who have been there think about the war. I would listen to you before anyone in the media.

Is Heidi Hatch making up these names that she is reporting? If not, aren't those names just as important as those members of the military that are killed during the few times of peace that we have had? If the truth hurts, maybe efforts should be made to change it.

You mentioned that we removed a man that killed over 300,000 of his own citizens. How about the man that was responsible for killing many of OURS? Where's Bin Laden and why didn't we go after him instead of our government quickly transporting his family to safety immediately after the 9/11 event? There was both quick action and thinking, just not what it should have been. You mentioned Hitler. Did our government make every effort to make his family safe and comfortable before attempts were made to kill him?

Thanks for you service, but being there does not make you an expert on the political and economic reasoning of the "war." It is uncomfortable hearing things that conflict with your orientation/indoctrination, but you might want to do some reading of reputable authors instead of relying on Rush or any of the mainstream media. They are all part of the problem. BTW, check the military records of Rush or any of these other media people and find out if they ever spent a day in combat.

I have no doubt that American troops will be in Iraq for years to come. But it will be to protect Corporate interests, not the people of Iraq. Some corporations have their own military/security units, but as you know it is expensive and better if the taxpayers pick up the tab. New Orleans taught the oil c

tee2326, I appreciate you wanting me to tell my "stories" here. I do have to decline the invitation.
I dont like engaging in political debates but I did feel the need to make a brief comment.
I will tell you this. I retired from the military a few years(very few) ago and was a front line soldier. Yeah, I saw things but again will not go into detail. Also had a Top Secret Clearence while a CentCom in Tampa. I reviewed a multitude of data concerning what is going on in the middleeast and what you see on TV is only a small percentage of what really is going on.
I will leave it at that.

P.S. Research is a wonderful tool. Do not rely on Wikapedia. You can edit the pages. Why would I rely on a source where someone else edited the page to fit thier belief or agenda?

Shadows, Let's address some of your insight into my Blog.....
The point I was trying to make about Heidi was the WAY she reports it, as if it's a surprise. As for the importance of the "Names", yes and NO. To me, the people FIGHTING for their(Iraqis) freedom is MORE important.
As for Bin Laden and why we didn't go DIRECTLY after him, if you know anything about military planning, it takes more than 6 months to plan an attack such as was conducted. This attack was preplanned BEFORE 9/11. The added info we received after 9/11, wheather you accept it or not, was that Iraq was a safe haven for Bin Laden, THEN he ran when WE got there was just an added bonus. By the way, I lived in N.Y. on 9/11.
As for Hitler, I do agree with you on that, we should have did away with him right off.
And PLEASE don't patronize me, there isn't one book in the WORLD that can explain war, NOT ONE. The best Education is set by example.
And, by the way, you never mentioned my idea about sending reporters to report the other side. When you have soldiers calling radio talk shows FROM OVER SEAS to report WHAT THEY SEE and are doing that IS good, how do you explain ONLY the negative reporting the media is doing?I don't mean to turn this into a contest, you have your opinon as I do. Thats what makes this country great.

As I have blogged before, I support our efforts in Iraq and admittedly, until General Patreaus took over combat operations, I thought we were drifting...Probably one of the best independent sources is from Michael Yon

http://www.michaelyon-online.com/wp/tabula-rasa.htm

I encourage everyone to go to his BLOG and read-on! Also, he is entirely self-supported, so if you can contribute, all the better.

To me the withdrawal debate on Iraq is over: we DO need to withdrawal as soon as we have achieved a complete VICTORY! Because the debate has been so one-sided, (anti-war left/MSM --but I repeat myself) as described in this BLOG, I think the focus should be on the consequences of a precipitous withdrawal.

Certainly there would be incredible atrocities, much worse than the likes of Vietnam, given the sectarian influences, Saddamists, Al Qaeda and a cast of free-lancers, influenced by Syria & Iran. How would the pull-out be received in the Middle East? Clearly, the radicalized Islamists would say and purport that “Allah has delivered a defeat upon the Great Satan.” Would we be safer by withdrawing? No matter how we arrived, (and again I support the reason we are there), nothing less than victory would be disastrous.

I agree Spectre. I think the days of us being the worlds "Policeman" should come to an end. There are things we need to do to ensure a withdrawl from Iraq. The 1st, and this is the most important thing that the Iraqis are not getting, is they need to be more Self-Supportive! Once we feel this is happening, THEn and ONLY then can we begin to discuss a withdrawl. One of the biggest shortcomings we have in this is the LACK of support from other countries. The U.S. has been there when countries have disasters in many forms such as monetary. Wheather they agree with us or not, they must realize that this war is like a cancer. They (the radical Islamists)will try to take over countries 1 by 1 as they smile in our faces. They don't seem to realize that THEY may be next. An example is Iran wanting Nuclear "POWER" plants for it's people! WHAT?? They are sitting on millions of gallons of crude oil!!! That isn't enough?? But, when all is said and done, let us remember those who have abandoned us in OUR time of need and let another country help them in theirs!!

Our Government is to well known to butt in on other countries problems! Funny how they jump right in without getting the American citizens opinions. Our biggest concerns here should be more addressed to our Mexico Borders, Foregn Products, terrorists sleepers that were easily allowed to enter this country and fixing their messes they have continued to neglect and place more focus on our own countries problems that are way out of hand now because of these neglects!

Tim, I don't want us to be the "World Police" either, but if it's in the interest of US/Western national security, then like it or not, we must act decisively. This IS a World War and the sooner we understand this the better -- OFFENSE is the only tactic that can defeat our enemies. We need to remind ourselves [daily] that there are enemies within and abroad that strive only to KILL Americans!

Wow! It's nice to hear so many opinions on the Iraq war. I never hear anyone speaking about it out here in the real world. It's always in the media. It's always on the internet. Nobody seems to care or has an opinion where I work and where I hang out. Sometimes I think that people just forgot about it or have become indifferent to it. Maybe that's because, like most of the people I know, I'm just as quiet about it as they are. Don't get me wrong. If the subject does come up, I'm very vocal about my views.

I never served in the military, but I grew up in a military family. I love my country. I support my president (right or wrong). I honor our troops. Has our government made mistakes? Yes and No! It happens. It's too late to back out now. I hear more crying about how we need to pull out and how we need to dig in from the politicians. My God, they need to shut up! There is only one solution. Our troops are already there. It's time for the military to do what it's trained to do. My father told me that "War is brutal. It's an ugly and evil thing that men do. But sometimes it's necessary".

My view is this...I think our government worries too much about what other governments are going to think about us. Our politicians are more worried about how the international community perceives us. The United States is the most powerful country on this planet. It's time for the United States start acting like it. By not acting, that's why we're in the situation we're in right now. Who cares about the French? Who cares about the Russians or the Chinese, the North Koreans and the Eng

I hate it when I get cut off.

Who cares about the French? Who cares about the Russians or the Chinese, the North Koreans and the English? The United States was attacked and I'm still angry about it. I think about it all the time. I think about the hardship on our troops and their families. I think about the men and women like Timh111 who's been there and seen it. I remember 9/11. I remember the president speaking out. I remember when he said "You're either with us or against us". Why are we NOT making war? Why are we NOT being brutal? Why are we NOT showing our enemies what it is to declare war on the United States? Why are we sitting on our hands? This Iraq war should have been over a long time ago. But it's still going on because our military is NOT being ALLOWED to do what it has been trained to do. I think this is the mistake our political leaders make. With all the political in-fighting, our enemies see our greatest weakness. And it's not our military. Our greatest weakness is our elected leaders who will not unite behind our president.

One thing that Americans should never forget; Our enemies breed hate like cancer. And like cancer, it must be removed to save the body. To save us. To save our future.
