It's a way for some people to get around, but a south Florida condo is saying no way to segways. A condo board in Sunrise wants to ban the upright two-wheeled devices. A WWII vet loves to cruise around on his segway but the condo board says it's a hazard! The Florida State arbitrator is now involved and hopes to settle the segway squabble within the next 15 days.

We'd like to know what you think about this case.

I would let him if there was a designated speed and area. Let him enjoy the rest of his life, but with safety, likes bikes.

What is the difference between a SCOOTER and a SEGWAY...none! Why not let him enjoy his life. He is 83 and has great spirit! You go and ride. The USA is about freedom right....then let him keep his rights just like people on bikes, scooters and wheelchairs do!

It just goes to show you how the officers on the board let the power go to their heads like all the HOA do.

How does this story become news? Who does this affect? Is south Florida still considered part of U.S. territory?

toddt: Everything affects us all.
His rights today, your rights tomorrow.
He's 80+, set some rules, let him alone.

Ok fine I will "let him alone" if you say so!

I just don't see how this affects me and would like you to give me some substantial evidence on how it does......I am just not smart enough to figure it out.

After you tell me I will "let you alone".

I won't go into either's case. I will say however if it's a free arbitration offered by the state and both party's agree to abide by the decision then they are to be applauded, if for no other reason than the fact that they are not feeding the lawyers ! If you don't feed them, they will wither on the vine, turn to dust and blow away !

As an American, you have rights.
The Government can only take away your rights, if we (the people) allow them to.
examples:
Gun laws - by passing laws the Government is taking away or setting limits on your rights

Abortion -

Bailouts (Fannie & Freddie) - (who cares, I'm not a broker, wait I do have a mortgage, never mind)

God / Religion in school -

Drug / Drunk Driving -

Wire Tapping -

These are all ways that we (the people) have allowed the government to take control or set limits.
Every time someone passes a law or sets an ordinance, we are giving up more of our rights and freedoms.
Everything has a trickle down effect. and it does effect us all.
