A woman toppled from a waiting room chair and died inside a Brooklyn hospital.  The absurd part of the story is that no one inside the medical center did anything to help her.

From  5:42 a.m. until 6:35 a.m., the security tapes capture security guards passing by, but no one acted to help the woman.

An hour after she went down, a nurse checked on her. Three minutes later, help arrived, but the woman was already dead.

Then, the hospital says a nurse tried to cover up the lack of care, saying the woman was just fine in the waiting room. Several staffers were fired.

Do you think firing the staffers is enough?

Reading this, I couldn't help but think of that line from the movie "Hot Shots"... "I'm in the hospital, what could go wrong?"

No, I don't think firing the staffers was enough. Charges of criminal neglect also need to be filed, especially against those who just walked by the woman and did nothing.

When I saw the video on the news report I couldn't help but notice a person near what appeared to be a pay phone just a few chairs away from the person on the floor. Was that person mentioned and if not, why not?

It reminded me of the people in NYC years ago who gained notoriety by ignoring crimes and medical emergencies that occurred on crowded city sidewalks, or the man that was recently struck by a car and ignored by passers by.

As for the incidents outside the hospital, I can understand why people don't want to get involved. Too many people have been sued or worse because they tried to help someone in need. There is no excuse for what happend in this case and I fault those in charge for not caring. That was a real class act with the guy in the chair who rolled over to look at her and then rolled away again. Too dam* lazy to get his fat arze outta the chair. Did anyone check if those workers were legals?

Those hospital staffers not only need to be fired they should be sued for neglect and criminally charged for neglect and murder.

People take life for granted but in this case it makes it worse when these people are trained to help others but yet looks at a woman laying on the floor as if it was a natural accurance. I see the family with a good lawsuit, the fired staff with a big red mark on their profile, this hospital questioned on treatment, and medical and security abilities has become more of a job income rather then being there to help with heart!

I may not have the education these people have but I would never turn away from someone in need of help!

I almost bet anything most people who saw this woman laying on the floor thought she crawled on the floor and went to sleep. I have seen more then my share people who crawled on floor and went to sleep, while waitting to be seen. When we were waiting on my daughter in law to give birth to her son, most of our family laid down on the floor and went to sleep and no one at the hospital asked if everyone was ok. But I went around making sure everyone was ok. That just shows you Hospital staffs just don’t care. They are only there for one reason and one reason only to get a pay check and that’s it.

Inexcusable! How heartless have people become? And staff ignored this woman also?? shame on them, I think criminal charges should also be filed. These people are paid to do a job, NOT ignore people in distress, they are PAID to HELP those in distress.
Im not even in the medical field, but you can bet your life..if someone fell over by me...i would be calling for some assistance! Especially in a HOSPITAL!!

Sounds like Fish Memorial here in Orange City.
I sat there in the waiting room unconcious for 3 hours before they relaized it with my head bleeding and making a puddle on the floor.
Not one nurse or DR there gave a crapola until a 4 year old little girl started to scream bloody murder when she saw me passed out bleeding. She thought I was dead and screamed at the top of her lungs. That got their attention.
My wife was notified 11 hours later that I was in the hospital....11 hours.

Dont ever go to Fish Memorial. They are the poorest excuse for a hospital that I know of.

They ignored my neighbors chest pains and he died later that day from a heart attack.

Yes, I have told my husband, if i ever "woke up" in Fish Memorial, i would assume he wanted me dead.
I think its the worst emergency care in florida, and they really dont have much in the way of "life saving" equipment or procedures.
And yes, the wait there is WAY to long.

Aside from the fact, they dont want to treat your ailment..just run a bunch of costly tests, and send you away ..broke and undiagnosed. All in the name of covering their arses, and lining their pockets.

I drove my wife while in labor telling her to hold on until we got to Arnold Palmer because we would never want our son to be born at Fish.
