The Associated Press News Service banned coverage of Paris Hilton for one week. The AP says it wanted to see if anyone would notice or care.

What do you think about this decision? do you care if news organizations stop covering celebrities?

They should extend it to all celebrity trainwrecks: Britney and Anna Nicole

Yeah, why is there so much focus on these "failures"..I turned on Fox this morning and i see Annas Hust going down the highway...there has got to be more important things to report than that!

It's been great not hearing about the nonsense she gets into. So much money, so little common sense. Now how about Brittney Spears? Let's do more coverage for the homeless pets instead of these problem people with money!

Funny... what would fill the other half of this mornings broadcast. All I've seen this morning is Anna's casket. Why are we glorifing a gold-digging stripper, with an ugly, snarl smile and strung out on drugs half her life?!? Our kids see this and think that's all it takes to be famous.

Had enough of them all! How about something like our soldiers and their families? Real news about real people!

Why do news agencies glorify such people? Why can't we hear MUCH more about folk who live and uphold the values that made our nation GREAT? Why don't we hear more about the REAL heroes - the best teachers who teach and exemplify those great values, the EMTs and firemen, police, and politicians who REALLY pay attention to their constituency? Why don't we hear more about things that make sense instead of non-sense, that encourage and build up instead of destroy, that honor instead of vilify?
I am sick and tired of hearing ad-nauseum about "celebrities" who cannot handle their fame or wealth. Why do we celebrate them? They should be infamous instead of famous. News of their antics should be with disdain and not admiration. Such news should bring shame and not honor.

thank god they stopped covering a spoiled brat for a week. Maybe they can stop for the next year. Who cares what new designer hand bag she gets, or what club in Vegas she's at. She couldn't even make appearances at her club here in Orlando... which she got fired from. Maybe now the media can start focusing on real stories instead of if Tinker Bell's got a new collar

I think the entire Cable Media needs to re-examine the coverage of these stories they clobber us over the heads with. From OJ to Micheal Jackson to Anna Nicole to Gary Condit and so on. If FOXnews, CNN, MSNBC, etc keep it up I will boycott THEM for a month.

Also I even boycott any Hilton owned hotels... if they got so much money to enable her then they can reduce their rates. So it is Marriott to me.
