fight violence with more "violence?" Its called FORCE candy... You can't fight crime with a picket sign, words, or a camera system.

There is NOTHING more respected by a thug entering your home than the sound of the racking of a shotgun slide!

As for accidental shootings, they are going to happen and that is why we have training available to people. Vehicles and operations of them is dangerous too and we have accidents daily, but we still use them, and train people on them.

I carry my Springfield 4 inch .45ACP XD with one in the snout and 8 in the magazine, and a second mag with 8 more. Only time I ever got close to drawing it for use was when a man lost control of his pit bull in a parking lot, and it attacked a man who was walking with his little girl and was trying to keep between the dog and girl! Lucky the dog was taken back into control by the owner, as I likely could not have fired because behind them was the store front and a walk way of people. But had the dog taken down the man or the little girl, I would have fired on that dog from almost point blank range.

This week a man took a man's car by knife point in Orange County. He would certainly have met a different fate had it been my car...

Handguns and firearms stop MILLIONS of crimes every year, but you NEVER hear about them because the typical liberal mainstream media does not report it.

We already own 2 guns. I grew up in WV, learning to shoot a revolver when I was a young teen. My Dad made sure I knew how to protect myself should the need arise. And I will raise my future children the same way.

With 2 guns and 3 large dogs, I would almost dare someone to try and break in our house.

I own several guns, but my favorite for home protection is a 12ga pump. NOTHING makes a sound like jacking a shell into a pump in a quiet house at 2am.. :)

For those that don't have protection in your house, think about this...

You hear someone breaking into your home in the middle of the night. Your fancy ADT alarm goes off. At the same time, the local police get an "officer needs assistance" call.

Now, just how long do you think it will be until the police get to YOUR house???

Please will break into you house and kill you over the money in your wallet. If YOU are not prepared to protect YOURSELF, and are going to depend on someone else, you're asking to get hurt!

Whats funny... These anti-gun folks are usually the same ones that want our troops home because they are getting hurt and killed.

Well shoot! Police and EMS get shot and killed while defending the people as well... maybe we should just send all the police and EMS home too and not let them risk their lives! They too are someone's child as well. Why the gangs and thugs wouldn't be out harming people if we would just leave them alone! Just pull all law enforcement off the streets and the bad guys will just have no reason to harm anyone and we can all sit by the fire singing camp fire songs and holding hands!

Yea right... My children as well will now how to operate a 12 gage pump, my wife's Smith and Wesson 38 P+ revolver, and my Springfield XD!
I learned how to shoot in the Boy Scouts at Scout camp as well as with my Father with a 22 bolt action long rifle in the hills of Virginia. Then I polished those skills with 20 years of service, and while I too have ADT in this house, and I'm an EMT. So after I fill you with holes, I know how to plug them up too!

Maybe it would be a good idea to build a fence around Wyoming then take ALL THE ANTI-GUN ANTI SELF-DEFENSE fools put them inside the fence and sell hunting licenses to convicted felons

GUNS like anything else are only as good as their owner. If you get a gun learn to use it and go to the range at least once a month. You don't want someone taking it from you and using it on you. It is also NO TIME to learn how to use it, load it, hold it, fire it. Remember the life you save will be you own if you are properly TRAINED.. 1 shot 1 kill

They aren't RESORTING to guns, they've decided to protect themselves, and more power to them.

You might find this hard to believe, but this nation was FOUNDED by people who protected themselves when they had to, and used guns to do it.

Without apology.

FlaNative, THAT is a sound that is understood, no matter what language you speak! I have my eye on a new .40 Glock, that has a shorter barrel than the "extra" one I carry in my truck. It's made out of polymer, and it's light as can be. My Smith & Wesson .38 is a snub nose, but that little sucker is heavy, at times. But, I still carry it, in my purse, wherever I'm legally allowed to do so!

DeborahLakeHelen... I'd decline on the Glock .40 and look at the Springfield XD compact! Its not bad, but they have a 3 inch .45ACP and right now for the second year in a row the XDs are No.1 by the guys at "GUN TESTS" My wife has a Smith .38 p + and the trigger is ridiculous. She is more comfortable with my 4" .45 XD

I like www.gun-tests.com because they do not accept advertising, and it take the "politics" out of the surveys and tests they do!

Guns are only tools.
People have the right to protect themselves. Having said that, every gun owner is responsible for his/her actions.
I deal with criminals every day, and they do not care or abide by gun laws, or any law that they want to go against (Hence, criminal)
If someone wants to own a gun for protection, NO PROBLEM.
If they want to carry concealed, they need to have a CCW permit.
I really think Florida needs to re-look at Open Carry being allowed.
And yes, I fall under LEOSA and CCW 24/7

I agree! Arizona has open carry. Not uncommon to see people out in public sporting some of the finest handguns and systems around!

I would rather be at the mall with my family where people are allowed to carry open where a criminal would think twice.

Today we see on TV how many lives were saved by open carry! Israel a crazed man was tearing up the public with a full size bulldozer toppling busses, crushing cars etc. and an off duty Israeli cop jumped up onto the bulldozer with his handgun, shot and killed the man almost at point blank range! FOX NEWS even showed the shooting! That man likely saved alot of lives!

GUNS DON'T KILL ONLY PEOPLE DO.
WE HAVE PLENTY GUN LAWS ON THE BOOKS THAT ARE NOT ENFORCED.
PEOPLE,(LAW BIDING CITIZENS) HAVE THE LEGAL RIGHT TO OWN A HANDGUN,RIFLE,SHOTGUN,ETC. UNDER THE CONSTITUTION, 2ND AMENDMENT, AND THE SUPREME COURT JUST UPHELD THIS RIGHT.
THEREFORE ANY BODY THAT CAN PASS A BACK GROUND CHECK CAN PURCHASE A HANDGUN. FOR THOSE THAT ARE A FIRST TIME OWNER I WOULD SUGGEST TAKING A GUN SAFETY COURSE OR A HUNTING SAFETY COURSE WHICH MOST COUNTIES OFFER. SHOULD YOU WANT TO CARRY CONCEALED APPLY FOR A CONCEAL PERMIT,TAKES ABOUT 60 DAYS TO OBTAIN WITH THE STATE AND FBI BACK GROUND CHECKS.
IT'S BEEN PROVEN FACT THAT CITIES AND STATES THAT ALLOW YOU TO OWN OR CARRY A GUN THE CRIME RATE IS LESS. IF I WERE LIVING IN A HIGH CRIME NEIGHBORHOOD I WOULD OWN BOTH A HANDGUN AND A SHOTGUN FOR THE HOUSE.
NOW IF YOU HAVE CHILDERN IN THE HOME YOU SHOULD

My wife is very Anti-Gun (Hawaii born/raised)
Her only condition to guns in the house was they are on me or in the gun Safe (She bought me a nice Gun Safe).

If you are a first time gun buyer then do it right and take lesson so you can learn to use it properly. CCW classes only scratch the surface. Its also an ongoing process requiring time on the range once a month. For home defense its tough to beat a 12 gauge. I like my Remington 870. For CC I like my Glock 19 with Black Talons. In the summer when the Glock is a little large for light clothes I switch to an AMT Backup in .45 cal.

my wife and i both have concealed weapon permits and i wouldnt have it any other way. we have had them for over 10 years with no accidental shootings. we have grandchildren so we only keep semi autos so they cant put one in the chamber where a revolver only requires pulling the trigger. come in my house your getting shot no questions asked, its to bad that things have come to this point. i was raised in brooklyn ny in the 50s 60s, wasnt a very good neighborhood but there were no gangs and home invasions back then , a gun puts you at an advantage espesially in your home where you are more familiar than the criminal, the police are only good after the fact. i wonder how many of these anti gun politicians have armed security

stroke,
" i wonder how many of these anti gun politicians have armed security"...I was thinking the same thing. When mayor Daly was crapping all over himself about the SCOTUS decision I wanted to ask him about his 24/7 armed security that taxis him everywhere and the bodyguards. I bet he has a gun right beside his bed too. Just like the perverted elite in this country..they want to deny the citizens but they have it. They think we are too stupid to figure it out.
Hubby and I are gun enthusiasts, we carry and have our cwps. We have many many guns and rifles in our collection. They are all safely locked away with the ammo except for the ones we carry. That is the American Way.

Abunai, is the Springfield XD as light as the polymer .45 Glock? The WEIGHT thing is what I'm really after, that and of course, its accuracy, which my "big" Glock definitely has!
