This is so disturbing!!!!

COBB COUNTY, Ga. (MyFox Atlanta) - Investigators with Cobb County police said a boy was decapitated at Six Flags amusement park Saturday.

Authorities said the incident happened just after 2:00 p.m. Saturday. A church group went to the amusement park and a group of boys with the group jumped a fence and entered an area that was marked off limits.

One of the boys jumped up and tried to grab someone's feet who was on the Batman ride. The boy ended up being decapitated.

Investigators did not release the boy's age, name or the name of the church the boy was traveling with.

AHHHHGGGG! That's awful! Those kids who were with him will live with the repercussions of the stupidity of their "prank" for the rest of their lives?! Can you imagine the shock of the spectator's who were subjected to the horror of seing the boy's head being ripped from his shoulders? They're victims, just as much as the family of the silly little boy who is now dead!

Any bets on how long it takes someone to SUE Six Flags?
Yes, the boy and his family will be in my prayers tonight.
No disrespect intended.
And what happened to the Chaperons???? (Charges of neglect pending??)

those are great questions.. authorities are working with park officals to find out why and where the chaperons were.

hopefully we'll have an update for our 10pm newscast tonight.

This just makes me cringe!

This is horredous! Just the thought makes me cringe. Why would this kid even try something like this. Grab the feet of one of the people on the coaster? What and rip them off or cause an even worse accident that could have ended with many dead? Shocking just shocking. I do think Tracy is right and there will be a lawsuit and that is going to make this even worse. I too would like to know where the Chaperones were? And why no one noticed these boys climbing a fence?
I wish his family peace and sympathies because this is going to be a difficult ride. (no pun intended)

This is terrible. I will pray for this boy and his family and his friends and all those people that witnessed this horrible senseless death. Clearly, Elizabeth with witnesses saying they trespassed and there was a sign...no suit can come from this against Six Flags. WE loved Six Flags always went to the one in Jersey. The batman ride, I never went on it but my husband and daughter did, they loved it - it is fast.....Teens...what were thinking. I know I stupidly jumped from a Merry Go Round down the Shore when I was 12..NEVER TRIED THAT AGAIN.

The only other thing I want to say on this is: Please do NOT call this an accident... The kid Climed a fence, ignored warning signs, and acted stupid.

I also have to wonder, if this was a church trip..were there any chaperons?...who were these boys under care? Now that's negligence..as hard as it is to go on these trips with young kids ..this is tough...I CAN'T EVEN START TO imagine the chaos, and trauma involved. GOD BE WITH THEM.

Eric...you speak the truth and it is very sad...I had my son read this..and he was in shock...and very sad..but this is why unless I am a chapareon I don't like to let them go on these trips..I have seen these chapereon let them do whatever..and that's not good ..but as sad as this is ..at least HE KNOW UNDERSTANDS MOMMIES concern and why I always tell him not to leave the teacher or adult side...

Very terrible tragedy all due to noone paying attention. I don't know how old this kid was, it doesn't matter if your a chaperone these kids need to be in your eyesight at all times. But these days chaperones volunteer so they can get a free or cheap vacation too. There are a lot of questions to be answered. God be with the family and friends through this terrible tragedy.

Another case of kids thinking warning signs were made up by someone who had extra paint and made those signs because they had nothing better to do.
Far as I'm concerned, the kid got what he deserved.
The other idiot in the news this week is the guy who lost his left arm to the gator.
I'm sick of seeing him on TV being the big man who escaped from the gator.
Anyone who goes swimming at 2 A.M. in a place where he knows there are big gators, deserves what he got.
Only mistake there, the gator should have taken off his head instead of his arm.

Now watch and see them try to sue the park for the kids stupidity.

Well an investigation will prove helpful. I remember when I went to SixFlags in Georiga. The area where the batman ride is located at is very confusing. Some of the warning signs blend in with the surrounding graffiti which read "off limits" "stay out" etc. Its is also easy to get separated and at times it is worse than Disney. It is a very open ride as well. I dont know how much has changed but I do know that there is a fence separating the ride from the line and it is very easy to jump that fence.

Authorities say a teenager was decapitated at the Six Flags Over Georgia when he hopped a pair of fences into a restricted area and was struck by the theme park's popular Batman roller coaster.

The accident took place at approximately 2 p.m. Saturday.

Police say the unidentified 17-year-old victim was from Columbia, S.C. He was part of a Baptist church group visiting the park.

Park spokeswoman Hela Sheth said in a statement the teen scaled two six-foot fences that were clearly marked with signs that read "Danger" and "Do Not Enter."

Police were investigating whether he entered the restricted area to retrieve a hat he may have dropped while riding the coaster.

Frence and Locks:
A lock is a device that keeps an honest person honest.
A fence is a device that is suppose to keep a person out.
Unfortantly these devices dont work when either a theif or stupidity is around.

I hope the parents try to sue the park and the case gets thrown out because the park did everything it was able to do.

Where was their Chaperone? Did they just let the kids run wild just as soon as they got through the gates? The kid must have been old enough to READ and understand what warning signs are! It isn't the parks fault the kid chose to achnor the warning signs! It's aweful what happened to this kid but he did this of his own free will too! Boy's climb things - fences, TREES! Just like that kid that climbed that big oak tree and got stuck which cost time and damages just to get him out!

Most kids do stupid or foolish things at times and some pay severe consequences while others are "lucky." It's amazing that anyone reaches the age of 18.

This is obviously tragic for the family, however is seems clear that Six Flags met their responsibility with the fence, etc. and there doesn't appear to be any legitimate reason for a lawsuit. The age of the boy is a critical factor in this determination.

people brought up lawsuits, Dont forget McDonalds now has to TELL people that coffee is HOT, also cost them 80,000.00 I think it was.

This was tragic but remember I don't think anyone in here can say they NEVER did anything Stupid or Idiotic as a child/teen.

MasMan I hope that you are NEVER in a position where some AJ can say to you that your kid "got what he deserves". Stupidity, lack of common sense, surreal bravado, or ignorance is NO reason to have a life taken in such a way.

I feel for this family and in my own way wish that they will someday overcome the grief they have and will remember all of the good memories of their son.

If anyone is at FAULT, you must start with the Boy himself (2)Fences, Many signs and lack of supervision: How can you blame 6 Flags.. I feel Bad for the Family, I must also feel Bad for 6 Flags, they do all they can to keep people safe and then a moment of STUPIDITY wipes all that away...You can only do so much to protect people from themselves, after that it is just PURE LUCK

I thought this was a young boy but seeing he was 17 makes it clear that he was looking for trouble and he unfortunately found it.

A similiar story happened to my dad when he was a boy in the 40's. He and several boys would run and try and jump on passing trains, one time, one of the boys fell and the train cut off his legs. He still remembers that to this day, so yes the memory will haunt those boys forever.

O M G...Those boys will have nightmares for the rest of their lives! That is something that nevers leave your memories! What a traggic thing for a family and friends to go through! I'm very sorry for their lose! But I also hope this kind of thing can be a lessen to those who are willing not to abid by posted warnings because these kinds of things could happen and the only one to blame would be you!

Everyone takes risks every day just by driving, walking, jogging, shopping...and so on and so on! But when you broke the rules and/or laws...you do it at your own risk and blame!

And yes I'm sure guilty of doing stupid things in my life time and I lost my older brother because of it too! He drowned in the river, got caught in a whirle pool and it sucked him right down, I was the lucky one (or was I)! So there are always regrets in everyones life!

Unfortunately, teenagers just do stupid things without thinking. It truly is a tragedy that this lesson to learn had to be at a cost of a young individual. I am so sorry for the loss this family has to endure. They will be the ones paying the price for second guessing themselves on allowing their child to go on a field trip. Our prayers go out to this family and his friends.

If the kids were trying to grab the feet of thers on the ride, then they should be charged with attempted murder or aggrvated assualt because of their actions. They could easly killed or maimed many people from that ride..

Hmmm, I remember that saying from Jeff Foxworthy. about how as a child if you got zapped by stickin a screwdriver in a wall out let you wouldnt do it again.. Same primise here, I feel for the families involved. But where was the supervision? the persons incharge of these kids should be held accountable.. They should also be accountable for the lost income for each hour the ride was closed, heck they should have to pay the bill for the investigation as well.... I have no remorse for people that intentionally do stupid things...
