Desperation = ROBBERY????

Well,,, you've heard us report this over and over... another convenience store and pharmacy store like Walgreens and CVS robbed in Central Florida.

What's going on here??

Two things come to mind according to law enforcement:

1) people desperate because money is tight

2) and pharmacy depts. are getting hit because of ongoing problem w/ people trying to steal meds to make drugs.

..scary thought isn't it?

Yes Tavares lets end this stupid war on drugs. You would figure the the government would have learned from proabition that stuff like that just doesnt work. My father told me that the government needs to leagilize marajuana because it has numerious medical purposes. As far as the other drugs go just decriminalize them. you take some of the closed military bases and bring the people there and give them a choice, 1) get rehab and become a productive citizen, or 2) go to the back area and have all the drugs you wanty for free until you die.

The advantage to doing this is to free up the insufficient court system, free up space in jails/prisions,and most of all it gets them off the streets.
Then the court system can get tougher on regular crime and criminals and quit pampering them.

It is no different shortly before and after a hurricane when you try to something as simple as pump gas. Those that were not prepared freak out and do stupid things. I witnessed fist fights over gas....how pathetic is that???

Wow it really is a problem when people can't afford to buy the materials to make meth...I wonder if Obama will develop a plan to tax something so he can give funds to meth producers ? Wonder what he will tax...baby food ? LOL
But I do agree with Jim on this one ..end the war on drugs but also stop wasting tax money on trying to rehabilitate addicts (it NEVER works any way) and make all law enforcement money go to things that really mater...like shooting scum bags dead when they threaten the life and property of American citizens and NO more “sympathy” for them because they are addicted !

yeah.. according to police and deputies they are seeing a spike in these type of crimes.
Many stores including pharmacies are stepping up security.

Well is somewhat scary BUT hey this is not the first time these types of thefts take place yet the business continued to be open; they don't take proper measures i.e. hired some guards......or lock the door and open to those only picking up meds...THINK OF SOMETHING for crying out loud to keep your employees safe and then your business BUT THIS IS FLORI DUH...and that would be too much to ask. I am of the opinion, that these may well be inside JOBS....to let the robbers know WHAT TIME AND PLACE TO HIT....but who thinks that way......ok only me.......lol

When you legalize something you take the huge profit out of it. Do you not understand even that basic concept? It will not happen because too many people are making too much money the way things are. If someone chooses to kill themselves with meth that is thier choice. I just don't want them stealing from me to pay for thier dope.

Free dope is good!!! What that means is the meth/crack head will no longer be killing you to steal $20 for their next fix. Do you not understand how prohibition effects the price and profit structure of the banned item? Legalize and instantly the price drops. There is not longer a huge profit to be made in the black market and you put the drug cartels out of business. You also free up the police and jail space. If you cannot grasp even this basic concept then maybe you need to put down that crack pipe.

1. oney isn't only tight but for some, not happening at all which makes them scared of losing everything they have! It's placed a much larger burden on people so what could anything expect but desperate criminal acts.

2. Without their jobs they lost insurance coverages but still need meds or they resale to pay their bills. What else could anyone else exspect but desperate criminal acts?

3. Government agentcies has already proven not to help with out being put through a ringer as if it's all your fault and will even discredt you with their false accusations, even discrimuntive in some ways!

I would agree that the economy is affecting the surge in crime.

As for legalizing drugs, I can see it for Marijuana but not for hard drugs like crack and heroin. I think that the government should focus more on treatment rather than the failed programs in place already.

People who rob these stores, and so forth SHOULD be shot on site. Because when they're not, they then have to be tracked down, and most of the time, that's not possible, and if they ARE caught, then they have to be arrested, and then go through the entire legal process.

Hi friends! I co-anchor Fox 35 News on the weekends and report during the week. I must say Florida is a beautiful state. I love the warm and tropical weather. I guess I am used to the sun having been raised in Southern California. I love going to the beach and BBQ-ing. My favorite kind of food is Mexican and Puertorican!! I make some mean enchiladas!! Yumm.. know of any good places to eat, let me know!
