WE MUST SAVE THE SPACE SHUTTLE PROGRAM

Hi Folks.        NO MATTER what you think about the Space Shuttle program,  You have to admit that it's the MOST UNBELIEVABLE ACCOMPLISHMENT IN AVIATION.

Without the Space Shuttle, there would be NO SPACE STATION ALPHA.   The Japanese, the Russians, the Chinese, it doesn't matter,  YES,  they have ALL contributed someting to the creation of the Space Station, BUT,,, it's the good old USA that has the ONLY vehicle to get everything up there, and the gas to do it with.

The Space Shuttle CAN be updated, retro fitted, and even have a physical FACE LIFT.  But under NO CIRUMSTANCES should it be retired.  ONLY if we had another newer version to take it's place.

What the United States is doing is SPACE SUICIDE by cutting out the Shuttle Program.  Once the Shuttle is gone,  WE HAVE NO SPACE VEHICLES AT ALL.    We are SOLELY at the mercy of the RUSSIANS.

What the HELL is wrong with our government.  Bush, and his IDIOT LOSER ADVISORS will spend over a TRILLION dollars of our money to fight a war that CANNOT be won on an enemy that cannot be found without PUMMELING our country into poverty, and submission to it's government ALL UNDER THE GUIZE OF TERRORISM.    THAT'S ALL COMPLETE BULL.

The money to bring the USA a NEW AND IMPROVED Space Shuttle would be NOTHING in comparison to what we have spent JUST ON THE IRAQ WAR ALONE.

The Space Shuttle is our defense, and maintainance vehicle that EVEN STILL TODAY,,,,, NO COUNTRY CAN DUPLICATE EFFECTIVELY..... That point alone SCREAMS for the salvation of the Space Shuttle.

We can make a bigger one,  a better one,  a faster, and more efficient one, BUT WE CAN'T RETIRE IT.

Ya know folks,  We all talk about that day when the BIG METEOR is headed OUR WAY.  And there is NO OTHER WAY to save ourselves from that massive Earth smashing impact than the powers that can be extended into the outer atmosphere than that of the SPACE SHUTTLE.

With an improved version of the Space Shuttle,  we create ADDITIONAL POSSIBILITIES for ourselves.  AND,  we use this Shuttle vehicle as an outer atmosphere PLATFORM to perform what ever duties are necessary to ensure our own future on several fronts.

Believe me fellow Americans.   YES, I know we're all wrapped up in things like the rising price of gas, and the rigors of every day life,  but the Space Shuttle MUST GO ON.

WE NEED to pay attention to this.   Don't make me tell you all that    DRMONTY TOLD YOU SO.      I won't get any satisfaction from that.

I really mean it.   To lose the Shuttle,  is to CUT our own throats not just in Space, but in our safety, security, and position in the modern world of technology.   It's a big mistake.

HI CANDY.

THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSE, AND SUPPORT.
Ya know, I don't want anyone to think that all I do is just BLEEP all the time. I do it because our country is on a MAJOR down turn, and my PROCLAMATIONS AND SCREAMS are merely severe WAKE UP CALLS.

Believe me when I tell you, the Space Shuttle is responsible for MANY things most Americans HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT.

I sell a product that was partially created on the Space Shuttle, and this was an absolutely MANDATORY invention for the EPA, and the DEP.

RUSSIA is the only other country that has the ability to go to the Space Station. BUT,,, the Russian Vehicle is UN SAFE. It's already CRASHED 3 times out of the last 7 attempted landings on Earth. And it's just an old style CAPSULE. That technology is 50 years old, and we're leaving it to the RUSSIANS??????? ARE WE NUTS?????? We must be.

OUR GOVERNMENT DOESN'T CARE about what's right and wrong. They don't CARE about what the PEOPLE WANT. Sure, when they need to be elected, they tell you what ever you want to hear, but once they get into power, let's face it Candy. THEY ALL SUCK.

We're all in big trouble Baby.

Hey, by the way, thanks, I'M FINE, and I hope all is well with you and the family.

You're one of the ROCKS on here Candy.

A GOOD EGG.

Shuttles to expensive...
Going back to capsules it's cheaper...and safer...and lighter to boost into space...less fuel consumption...no piloting back...less human error...
Shuttles as old a dirt, geez challengers already old enough to drink boss...
The shuttles technology is older than every junker car on the road...
A cheaper capsule allows them to keep the technology relevant without building new shuttles...
A new jet fighter is pushing a couple billion at least...
We need to focus on problems OF earth before we can step outside of that box...
We haven't even achieved unity as a human race, even though it is proven as scientific fact everything is connected, as everything is intangible...
Open your mind, perfect your consciousness...
Everything falls into place...

The shuttle system is a high tech dinosaur. Too many problems here on earth to solve without providing "welfare" for NASA.

The shuttle is 1970's technology but I do agree we need to keep the program just use newer technology and newer ships.

You never retire something without having its replacement already in place!
The military owes much of its advanced technology to NASA.
This is more evidence that Bush is not too swift.
How about we ask McCain and Obama what their objectives are with NASA's program and the Shuttle Program specifically.

It is a dinosaur only the ridiculous cost* has kept it up 26 years after it was supposed to retire, it was designed in the 60's and built based on 70's tech very little has changed in its design because it is impossible to improve on this useless hull........SCRAP IT and move on we have been able to build a better (cheaper, lifts more , flies higher, safer etc ) shuttle for many years now BUT * the current shuttle has so many parts that our congressmen have over the years landed contracts for their constituents in their home states, it does not matter that the darn thing does not work all that matters is that it costs far more than anything we will replace it with ......it is a wast

PW This is probably one of the few times I agree with you.. They should have something ready to fly before scraping the shuttle.

Just out of curiosity does anyone know how many empires have ceased around the same time they stopped exploring or expanding?

RNC08,

LISTEN YOU GUYS, I'M NOT SAYING TO KEEP AN OLD CLUNKER GOING. I AGREE THAT WE NEED THE NEW IMPROVED SPACE SHUTTLE. I REALIZE WE HAVE A BETTER VERSION NOW THAT HAS BEEN ON THE DRAWING BOARDS FOR YEARS. WHEN I SAY SAVE THE SPACE SHUTTLE, I MEAN THE SPACE SHUTTLE PROGRAM. THE WHOLE CONCEPT.

Just like new cars, they get refined, and refined, but eventually, you come up with a whole new body style.

Well, the same applies to the Shuttle.
DON'T just junk the whole Shuttle program. That's what i'm saying.

Space Capsules are INSANE. They are not functional from a mechanical point of view.

Capsules are only good for launching satellites. But cannot serve efficiently as service vehicles.

ALL HALE THE NEW GENERATION SHUTTLE.

Oooops. Our loser Congress forgot to take their fingers out of their axxxx.....They
KILLED the entire budget. LOSERS.

CANDY AQUINO,

You have a good attitude.

I will most certainly get a hold of you.

I want to start a campaign to FIRE the entire United States Congress. LOSERS.

DON'T ANYONE TELL ME IT CAN'T BE DONE.

THEY'RE OUT OF TOUCH, AND TOO GREEDY AND DON'T DESERVE TO BE IN POWER. ELECTIONS AS WE KNOW THEM SUCK. WE NEED TO UPDATE CONGRESS AND THE ENTIRE WAY WE DO BUSINESS.

BOY OH BOY AM I GONNA MAKE A LOT OF ENEMIES.

There has ALWAYS been a schism within the NASA community between the "Manned" and "Unmanned" factions with BOTH competing for the SAME funds..

At THIS point the expense of developing a "New and Improved" version of the Shuttle seems to conflict with plans for a "Manned" mission to Mars and the "Unmanned" missions slated for the rest of the Solar System..

Thanks for being on top of this Hawkeye. As usual, I value your opinion.

I am pretty straight forward about the Shuttle program because of it's incredible possibilities. As I have said before, it's the PROGRAM that I want to keep going. A landable RE ENTRY vehicle is imperative for our continued advances in space.

And as I say, the Shuttle offers us OPTIONS not only for science, but for security on ALL fronts. NO WAY should we set it aside. The program needs to be funded no matter what.

There's PLENTY of wasted money being thrown all over the place by our Axx HOLE idiot Congress. LOSERS.

I'll check the POP MECH article right away.

Thanks,

I'm Old enough to remember the Flight of the FIRST shuttle,, the ENTERPRISE,, in Feb. of 1977..
I remember the feeling of Awe that surrounded the program back then..

Though the Missions no longer elicit such a feeling as a result of the program's magnificent successes and it's spectacular disasters,, the Shuttle Program nonetheless remains a Vital and Necessary asset to our country's identity,, both NOW and in the Future..

I agree with you 100% drmonty but, on a conceptual basis. A new improved shuttle would be the way to go. What can you put into space with capsules??? And you're all calling the
shuttle old technology???? Yeah, plunging
into the ocean with parchutes again is waaay
more advanced! And before you call the Shuttle
"old", read up on the many advances and revisions it has gone through in it's
years of service.

In case you folks don't realize, our
space/aviation industry is vastly superior
to any other nation's. I'll even go as far
as saying it's our greatest industry. We certainly still can't make cars worth a crap but, we make the best aircraft in the world.

We're already losing markets to the Europeans (Airbus Industries) and the Chinese but, now we're going to piss away our greatest accomplishment and thousands of jobs to build what? capsules??? Pffff! Where's the vision we once had in this country?

I say make a bigger, badder shutlle!!! One
with new propulsion technologies that can go
beyond just orbiting the Earth. We need jobs
and challenges folks...not just for under-achieving engineering students so they can design..... capsules!

...OK that is different as long as you are not supporting the “dead wood” at NASA who believe we should never move forward (because they have gotten rich on this gold mine) , the obvious solution has been in plane sight for years end the monopoly ! Split NASA into two different organization with the first still running a Man in Space program” and all deep space exploration while the other runs oversight* on commercial space launches . I believe that we would allow *private launches of satellites and save a lot of money and get closer to meeting our “industrial space needs” , fact is NASA is 10 years behind on its commitments and is still forcing everyone to use it and its “shuttle” for all space needs......RE: Microsoft designed a satellite system that would have safe guarded us against a space attack by redundancy that was supposed to be on line in 1998 but of the 750 individual satellites that where to be sent up by that year only 25 have been launched so far)....as it stands the Air force will make 400 times more successful space launches this year than NASA will, but they are prohibited from using their rockets to send up civilian packages !

The focus now is on the ISS completion and unmanned explorers...

Why should a pilot even contemplate a landing when they could just ride back and get picked up...

Lives are more endanger to human error...
Its not about being advanced, its about being efficient...
After every mission the foam needs to be redone, boosters relocated, fuel tank filled, fuel tank located...etc
They are about to have a massive layoff at the cape...
a newer shuttle wont fix the under budgeted...

RNC08,
Thanks for your response. I'm in agreement with you.

Because of special interest, and so forth, many of the good features, and programs that really SHOULD get the attention they deserve, SIMPLY DON'T. THIS SUCKS.

I'm a firm believer in a WATCH DOG program to keep our government IN LINE.

Even the president needs to get a good swift kick in the BLEEP. AND I'M JUST THE MAN TO DO IT. Congress, the President, vice president, and the entire house of LOSERS do nothing more than COAGULATE the processes that would surely make the entire space program, and out lives in general run much more efficiently.

I like the SPLIT NASA idea. That's a good, and proper concept.

COOL

10 / 4 Candy.

Ya know, life is much simpler than our society has made it. It's government that intentionally creates RED TAPE, and problems

As you can see, even though you, Hawkeye, and I have not met, we're GENERALLY all on the same page.

We may not always agree on every aspect of every issue, but the point is that WE AGEEE in scope.... NONE of us want the complications that come with living in today's world.

Look at HOMEOWNERS associations. You can see just by part of the name itself what they are
HOMEOWNERS BLEEP ociations. They are only one example of how we're complicating life for ourselves. How about the BOARDS OF EDUCATION. What a bunch of DILL WEEDS they are. Where the HELL do we get these losers from.

I could go on for HOURS, But I think you get my point. It's nice to have SOME normal people on here to communicate with.

You and I will have a chance to talk. Soon, if I can make the time, and you too.

Have a great day.
