Iraq Vietnam ParallelI read that Nike workers in Vietnam are unhappy about the working conditions at the Nike plant "in Vietnam" and have gone on strike twice. They claim that their $1 (U.S) a day is not enough for long work day, and they want more money and treated like human-beings, not slaves.

Was not this the start of the Vietnam War, French textile workers revolting because of harsh working conditions and slave wages? Did they not want to join the communist party to be liberated? And now the communist party is the largest manufacture of textiles in the world? Does this mean that the over 40,000 Americans that lost their lives, gave their lives for nothing? Will Iraq parallel Vietnam; no matter how long we are there it will ultimately revert back to the way it was?

And finally, does it matter whether we are there for 10 years or 100; can time mask or justify our loss of live and resources?

What is your opinion regarding this?

The government needs to find other sources of financing for their private wars.

Perhaps they should use soft donations like in their election campaigns?

Well apparently a lot of Americans are will to die and throw their money away on Iraq, so I'm hoping they at least have some good beaches to vacation there in future... Disney World.... something... oh wait we have all that in Florida....well I'm sure the gas prices must go down at least when things stabilize?

Yeah I know I'm a dreamer... just hate to see money wasted and people die in vain.

What a crock! Difference between the two:

We already cleaned Iraq up once, but Democrats let the man rebuild over the 90s!

As to cost of war, liberals keep throwing numbers of dead out there, but forget that Clinton lost over 4 thousand troops just in his first term alone!

The financial cost: Since the 90s Democrats have skimmed over 140 Billion of Defense budget away, but still tasked the military at full strength and then some! Way I see it, just in back pay alone we owe our military 1 Trillion,400 Billion in back pay!!

The current defense spending is only 1% of GDP as opposed to 25% of GDP in WWII.

We have Joe Biden who refuses to support new aircraft for the Air Force as being too expensive, but then sneaks a World Poverty Bill authored by Obama through committee without debate and only a voice vote! That bill is for spending .7% of GDP by 2015 to pass hundreds of Billions around the world to "poverty stricken" regions. IOWs places where corrupt governments, warlords, and dictators are and buying their promise to be nice!

This is why liberals are not taken seriously! You claim to be for the good of the people, but can't step up and criticize your own!
