I have heard so many people say, “It doesn’t matter who is President.” and I must admit, I’ve said it too. Clearly it does matter, because look at us now. When down to two candidates, what are our real choices? Here are my Top 10 priorities:

  1. Responsible Government Spending? You can not spend money we do not have. I do not want my children paying off debt to China, (or any other country) for a war or stimulus plan that did not make a difference to America.
  2. A budget with no deficit? If you present a budget that includes a deficit, then it is not a budget, right?
  3. I want my social security deduction to be applied correctly, or eliminated!
  4. Healthcare: Employer healthcare at one time was to lure good employees with good benefits. Some how it has turned into a crippling burden on the employer. We pay our leaders to lead; they can broker an individual healthcare plan to relief the burden from U.S. businesses. …at the very least.
  5. The War in Iraq: I don’t know why we are there, and I do not want my tax dollars applied to people that pray for my death on a daily basis. Let their God sort out their fate. Bring our soldiers home, or ship them to Afghanistan.
  6. Accountability: Why is it that the middle class are the only ones accountable for their actions in this country?
  7. Support our Soldiers: When our soldiers return home they should be given the care, respect, and support to get back to their lives. Supporting the troops mean the people that fight the wars, not the politicians that start them.
  8. Fuel independent Nation: Without fuel independence we will always be at the mercy of the greedy.
  9. Environmental responsibility: If you vote for an oil man for President, do not blame him for high fuel costs, or global pollution. I drive an SUV gas hog, and I complain that gas cost is too much, and pollution is too high. My next car will be a fuel efficient one.
  10. Sub-Prime bail out? Who will the government actually be saving with a Sub-Prime bail-out? Foreign investors are hit the hardest from this failure, will the government bail out foreign investors with U.S. tax dollars borrowed from China?

These are the answering I am looking for in a Presidential candidate.www.thenetworkadministrator.com

What are yours?

Great post... my thoughts exactly. Unfortunately a candidate that can lead us in this direction is out of the picture now... there were only about 4 or 5 that would have taken us in this direction and surprisingly none of them won the media race.

I made darn sure I voted and have in the past 6 or 8 Presidents or was that 5??? getting old but I make sure to vote so I CAN complain. If you didn't vote, and are old enough too, then I don't want to hear from you. (Wow, make me a poet now... lol)

Nice post Doug, but who would you suggest when it comes down to McCain/Crist vs Hillary/Obama or Obama/Hillary?

The man I work for is very wealthy, he asked who I liked in 2008, the Bush administration made him a lot of money. I said, like you, I will vote for the person best for my tax bracket.

Voting for the "lesser of two evils" is still voting for evil. If you stay home because there is nobody you can support, that is a vote. There is no "None of the above" on the ballot.

And Ammendment 1 gives everybody the right to complain, whether they vote or not.

Questions 1&2 Responsible government spending is as oxymoronic as you can get. If you give someone unlimited funds and the ability to print more, there will be no responsibiity.
The budget is the same thing. They can balance it tomorrow by just printing trillions more dollars. Inflation would go through the roof. It wouldn't solve the problem.

3. Social Security is being applied correctly. Read the laws and regulations. There is no SS fund, no account in your name, and you have no right to any of the money you paid into it. (Supreme Court Ruling).

5,6&7, I agree with you.

4,8,9&10, The more the government gets involved, the worse it gets because of 1&2.
If the government gets out and leaves them to the free market, they will work out.

If the government obeys the Constitution, it doesn't matter who is elected. The Constitution sets the limits of what the government can do. It is up to the people to make sure the government obeys the Constitution.

I am opening a site, thinking of a name, to hold these politians accountable. ANd since I am sooooo rich and Good Looking too, I will run Swift boat type ads to nail them. Listen to State of the UNion speechs from as far back to Jimmy Carter on how they were going to cure energy problems, poverty, jobs leaving, yada yada. Clinton was the best over promiser.

But I am also hooking up with some media monitor companies who tape this stuff 24-7... Lexus-Nexus is a good company that writes down everything said.

So look out Congressman, Senators, and WHitehouse and Candidates.

Isnt it funny, John Kerry never followed up in at least the Senate on ANY THING he claimed to be able to HELP the Nation... no peice of legislation since the 2004 loss. Fraud.

Doug.. I emailed you for video edit advise. I have IT staff but want to learn how to.

Who is the ideal candidate?

Of those we have left?

Doug?

Anyone?

What you want does not matter. You have to pick from the lot.

What will it be?

Is there really any difference among McCain, Clinton and Obama? I say no. They are all liberal ideologues. For that reason '08 will be the first Presidential election that I will cast no ballot since Nixon vs McGovern.

Thus guaranteeing Hillary wins!
I hope you can live with that sailor. Especially if it is close, and many like you write in a candidate, or simply do not vote.

This is no time for apathy, this is the biggest vote ever in the history of the US!

I am not a liberal; I was a republican until Bush turned this country over to special interest. McCann said that we will be in Iraq for 100 years that seems to be the conservative pledge. I will not pledge my tax dollar or give support to those that are intent to spend money that I have not made yet. I am no fan of the Clintons, but look at what we are reduced to that Hillary Clinton will be elected to save America?

We will be in Iraq permanently. It is a brilliant military strategy on the part of W.

Like it or not.

Every threat to our security in the future will come from that region. What better plan than to have an immediate strike force there, that can alleviate the threat before it comes here? It is gold.
Bush is a great President. He does not care about his popularity, only the safety of this country. If you can argue with that, or put a price on our national security, please do so.

If not, stop whining about the cost of freedom. It is costly, in terms of life, and expenditures, but the alternative is far worse.
If Billary is re-elected, you will see the alternative. The death of America.
