Global Economy: American Killer -- It is the U.S. consumers that have all the power. It is the people that dictate products, not the sellers. If we do not like a certain product, then we simply do not purchase it. If a toy is made by slave child labor, we boycott and demand change. The seller has no choice but to oblige, if they refuse, we refuse to buy. We do not purchase products that harm our families, then why do we purchase goods that hurt our family’s quality of life?

If you purchase goods and services made in another country and remove that money from your local community, it directly affects you. If you only purchase items made locally, you help your local economy, and money stays in your neighborhood, city, state, and country. However, if you purchase products made in other countries, you only benefit their neighborhood, city, state and country.

With my purchase money I want to help the people of my area first, then the people of my state, after then the people of my country. Only after my local, state and national economy has been satisfied first, then I might consider purchasing a product that helps strengthen another country. With every product I buy that is made in another country, or service I use, I hurt the people and economy of my country.  We can survival terrorist attacks; it is what we are doing to the dollar that will destroy us. We can blame the government for allowing jobs to be sent overseas, but We the People are the consumers, and only we can make the United States a financial power again.

Yes and NO! We can place blame on Over welming Construction which has also placed people who work in construction at risk! We can also blame our lack of border control! We can also blame our lack of security meassures! We can also blame ourselves for allowing things to get way out of control and not fighting back as hard as "We The People" are the consumers and have the power which we do not enforce upon as much as we should!

About all that money we're spending on wars overseas. When will we get that back? On a serious note, has Germany or Japan paid us back for those wars? We are still there, why is that?

Well the solution is simple then!

You can't have jobs here in the US when we punish every company trying to compete! Again, the corp. tax levels in the US are the second highest in the world! It is proven that reduction of taxes has availed more revenue to Washington than raising taxes ever did, yet Democrats STILL want to raise them more!

Unions have crippled our industries now for decades! Domestic Steel for example has been on life support for decades, so other nations have responded by posting high tariffs on other goods that we want to export.

Kyoto has allowed China and India to produce goods at the cheapest rates ever because they get a pass on enviormental regulation that nobody else gets! Thank Gore and the Sierra club nuts for that! We still pollute, we just export it out of our own backyard, then pretend we are doing the planet a favor! How arrogant are we!

Free trade is the answer. The days of "buy American" just don't keep the lights on, or food in the childrens mouths. I wont pay higher prices so some Union person can collect workman's comp for a hangnail!!

I shop at Walmart which again is beat up by Democrats and liberals only because they are Union free! They NEVER go after Super Target or Kmart... why is that?

War funds? Oh come now sabaii... Liberals stripped 140 Billion a year from the Defense Dept through Clinton's days, then increased the operational tempo of the military leaving them 47% short of the assets to do it with!

The folks on the USS Cole died because we didn't have enough tankers in the battle groups to support

Arunai; you know nothing about the US Navy or the operations in Hodeida, Yeman. We've been re-fueling there without incident for almost 50 years. Where do you get this stuff? The Cole was caught off guard by a freak act of suicide bombing. I have been to Yemen. You evidently have not. But I suppose you want to condemn 12million people because of a couple of 'martyrs'. D.A.

Never shop at Wal Mart ! thier business practices alone should make you run in the opposite direction.
they dont promote women- force people to work Overtime for nothing, they open up huge mega stores in local towns that put all the LOCAL business out of work, then import all the merchandise from abroad-re-packagae it with an american flag and you fall for it !.
No wal mart-no way !

cant buy american vehicles-they always have re-calls or dont last.

and certainly dont blast the Clinton years -comepared to the BUSH years the Clinton years were phenomenal for people. !
let alone how much we have wasted by going into Iraq when we wasnt asked for help or got UN backing.

conservatism has severely crippled this country. I do not see any problems with sharing the countries wealth but the conservatives motto is -I'm all right jack-and screw the rest of you....

Many good points made, however before you blame the small US Citizens, you need to look at the American Business concept now, large Corporations / Industries that have moved either out the Country and/or base their home office here and there factories else where because it's cheaper and they can by pass strict laws put in force on American soil when it comes to industry. And the profits speaks for themselves as to why the American Companies do this. The citizens show past history already of trying to control this problem, but with no results. Do you think if we stop buying, we would actually hurt these companies now? No, why? Because they are set up to be able to sell and trade over seas. Bottom line, they know that the American People may throw a tantrum for a little while, but it shows that eventually we have no choice but to give in and start buying again, whether we like it or not! The companies now that are in operation over seas, will not change because greed has taken over. The only way we can fix this problem ourselves, is to address the Government for more business tax breaks and the US Citizens get together and begin to start our own businesses and industries back in the US, keeping all production within it's borders. Your views are great, but with the way things operate today, unless the American people are willing to start working hard again to improve their own nation, your views unfortunately are not realistic.
