I'm not sure, but I think I may have "outrun"
a tornado Thursday. At 5:23pm, I was on Minnesota Ave, almost to Kepler Rd, and it started hailing like crazy. The wind felt like it was going to turn my truck OVER! I looked in my side-rear-view mirror, and the sky
was an ugly purplish black, with an odd yellow tinge. As I approached Kepler Rd, rain and hail started
hammering the ground and lightning was striking all around. I high-tailed it to Lake Helen, but I couldn't get away from it. When I pulled into my driveway, my massive oak trees were bending in every direction, and when I got out of my truck to run inside, I could hear a low, hissing whistle. It was an eerily familiar sound, from when the tornadoes struck Daytona Beach C.C. down the road back in January of '07. We had limbs down, but no other "evidence" around Lake Helen or DeLand of a tornado actually "touching down." THANK THE LORD!

Postal Carrier Bitten By Snake, Continues Mail Delivery

POSTED: 12:55 pm EDT October 11, 2008

TAMPA, Fla. -- Forget rain, sleet or snow.

The bite of a poisonous snake didn't keep mail carrier Efraim Arango from his mail route on Friday.

The 66-year-old Arango was bitten as he slipped mail inside a box. He told authorities that he shook his arm and thwacked the small snake against his car door to break its grip.

Arango continued to deliver mail for 30 minutes before seeking help.

Authorities said Arango identified the snake that bit him; it was likely an eastern diamondback rattlesnake.

Arango was treated at a Tampa hospital.

Good Grief! He deserves a medal for that! How
did he survive? If it was "small" it was either a baby, or a Pygmy Rattler, either are just as deadly. Rattlesnakes are born fully loaded with venom.

Better to think you outran one than to know for certain a brief moment or two that you didn't ! :) Was curious how a rattler, being a ground dweller, got into that mail-box. A gift meant for someone else ?

I know Meb! I wondered about that, too. You know, it could have been "in" something, otherwise, someone HAD to have done it maliciously. Poisonous snakes (North American ones, anyway) don't climb! What about those nasty ones from Africa and South America? Don't those baztards hang out in trees? You do realize the Bible refers to "THE SNAKE" as a he, right? So, Meb, don't be blaming a woman the next time something wrecks your day! What do you mean, how did I know you said that? DUH, dude! I TOLD you! I'm
RIGHT BEHIND YOU! Dee-Da-Dee!

Yeah Deborah, I'm pretty sure the venemous South American and African types are climbers.I have a book about them around here somewhere. Don't believe that snake to be a coincidence, fluke, or accident. I think that the only thing I've every really blamed on a woman was crabgrass and EVE, there couldn't possibly have been crabgrass in a paradise like EDEN. What chance did Adam have when he glimpsed nekkid EVE ? I can almost hear him now : " HOLY-MOLEY, WOW, NOW THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN ABOUT, SURE, WHYNOT, nobody's lookin right ? LOL !!! Getting back to the thread, glad you're safe !

OF COURSE That's what Adam said, Meb! After All, SHE was perfect, wasn't she! The point I was making, is that the Bible refers to
"The Snake" as a HE!
As far as a poisonous snake here in FL in a in
mailbox? Sounds mighty suspicious to me!
OH GET THIS!!!! Can you believe the pansy in the pink jumpsuit came BACK to look for the snake? One of my neighbors (who I had told the story to told me this today) said they saw a guy in what looked like pink pajama's on the side of the road, looking around as if he lost something, right close to where I had killed the snake. My neighbor stopped, and asked him if he was okay. The guy told him he was "looking for an injured sthnnake that some cwazy bioch shot" because he wanted to take it to the VET! OMGracious, my neighbor said it was all he could do to keep from busting out laughing. Thank you, Meb, as always for your sweet comments!

I love MOST people, especially children and old people, and I am especially offended when someone hurts one of them. "NEVER WRESTEL WITH PIGS, THE PIGS LIKE IT, AND YOU'LL JUST GET DIRTY!" Modified from a quote by my dear friend, jfore
