Doomsday Machine Revisited!

If you read my first post on this topic, you are up to date. So to continue.....

Three hundred feet below  France and Switzerland is a machine that could not only destroy the earth, but the universe as well!

This summer they will flip the switch on the Large Hadron Collider, the world's most powerful atom smasher.

Seventeen miles in circumference, it collides counter-rotating beams of protons and detects the showers of subatomic particles with precision detectors that are seven stories high.

The protons make 11,245 laps around the 17 mile beam tube each second!

Although the proton beam has a mass of only one ten-thousanth of a grain of sand, it is moving so close to the speed of light that it has the energy of a 30,000 pound fighter jet moving at 500 mph!

The control of the proton beam is such that it travels through a tube less than 3 inches in diameter.

The machine is designed to re-create conditions of the so called big bang theory. If it works as expected, it could be a crowning achievement in quantum physics.

However, many believe this machine could actually create a black hole, that will grow to not only swallow the earth, but eventually the entire universe as well!

So the question here, as before. Should they be allowed to start up this machine?

What if they are wrong? What if it does create a black hole that cannot be suppressed?

Does this handful of scientists have the right to gamble with the future of matter itself?

France being sucked up in a black hole? ANd what is the downside? LOL.

It is a good project actually. With it they might be also able to assist in Fusion reaction that some say is 40 years tech from now. If we had Fusion Nuke Reactors, it would be Free energy with no waste problems and be the cure for energy needs for the grid.

They all said the Atomic Bomb reaction would also not stop and light up and destroy the Atmosphere... and it didnt.

It will be OK.. But wonder if we can get Iran and Some others near the black hole.

Lol TG, but this is far bigger than a simple atom bomb.

A black hole would of course swallow the machine and France and Switzerland first. That would be good! LOL!

But it may, and most likely will continue to grow, to actually swallow the earth and the entire universe itself!

Can man create a machine that could evaporate all matter itself?

I think they have, and we shall soon see. What a surprise it will be for everyone if this machine does just that. There will be no one to blame, they will be gone.

We will soon follow.

Seriously..I don't think they have it. Have Scientist ever been able to make something out of nothing.......They can't make a something as simple as a tree. Think about it. They can't take dirt and air and make a human, they can clone..and they are going to start cloning dead people soon, those that have donated their bodies to science...but that is taking human cells to make a human.

I find it difficult to believe that there is ANY danger of a Black Hole Forming here..

THESE phenominun are FORMED by the Collapsing of CERTAIN STARS,,generally one MUCH more Massive then our OWN Sun..

A common MISNOMER,, a Black Hole is NOT a physical "Hole" in Space at all but merely a region in space where such mass has accumulated at a SINGLE point ( Hence the term SINGULARITY ) to produce the Gravitational Forces powerful enough to prevent even electromatic radiation,, such as LIGHT,, to escape,, THUS giving the APPEARANCE of a Hole..

The Common theory NOW is that "Black Holes" are rather COMMON in OUR universe with at least ONE of the BIG Brothers,,the MASSIVE Black Hole,, occupying the Center of the Milky Way..

According to SOME mathmatical Calulations,, there ISN'T enough MASS in our ENTIRE Solar System ( That's the Sun,,ALL of the Planets,,Moons,,Asteroids and Meteors COMBINED ) to generate the Gravitational Magnitude necessary for the formation of a Black Hole..

...I see what you are getting at but a “quantum black hole” is only a temporary “effect” and is dependent on the energy input to be sustained IE: it does not have the mass to be self sustaining so it will “pop” like a bubble , true it could be a very very large explosion but nothing that would mater to anyone out side a “flash radius” of 4 or 5 miles ...but it is “new science” and I could be wrong so , I bet you $20 that it will fizzle....if I am wrong and a quantum black hole forms that is self sustaining (and the world comes to an end) I owe you a saw-buck LOL
BTW Hawk is correct in most aspects of his description of current theory , but a quantum (sub atomic) black hole is a synthetic anomaly that can (theoretically) be generated by replacing mass with relativistic acceleration , the question is how much energy would be required to make a black hole a few hundred billion trillionths the size of the smallest black hole in the universe ...and how you would know you had made one!

The existance of Quantum Black Holes,, or Mini-Black Holes,, is,, as yet,, ONLY a theoretical Possibility predicted by Hawkings.. NO such object NOR the effects of such an Object have EVER been observed in nature although the GLAST satellitte will be tasked to look for said effects which is predicted to be in the form of Gamma Ray Bursts associated with the evaporation of said Mini Holes..
AS RNC08 correctly points out,, IF the creation of these Mini Holes were a possibility given the energies required, which is HIGHLY improbable,, the SAME THEORETICAL Extansions to the Standard Model that CREATES the EXTRA Spatial Demensions Necessary for this CREATION ALSO predicts the IMMEDIATE DECAY by “Evaporation “ of said holes by a process known as HAWKING RADIATION..

Hawk- you can term singularity, but in reality all is intangible...(plank scale right?)

If everything is one there would be no singularity?
Time can't escape the black hole either right?
What is the immense energy at the plank scale NASA is trying to tap into?
Wouldn't that be enough energy?
I'm talking out of my @ss, but I thought I was aware of some things...lol

Plank was the guy who FIRST put forth the theory behind energy transfers as it relates to matter..It was HE that FIRST postulated that said energy was NOT continuous in nature but was instead, done in the form of "Packets" which HE called Quantas..A little known theorist picked UP on this and eventually proved the concept through experimentation.. THAT young theorist was Albert Einstein and his ecperiments and subsequent theoretical work gave birth to what we NOW know as Quantum Mechanics..

Gorilla..What IS time??

A series of realities tied together consecutively while leading us exonerably into the future??

When we look to the skies we see,, ALL around us,, HISTORY ubfolding before us..From the Sun whose Image we see is already 8 minutes old to the FARTHEST object EVER detected as IT existed long BEFORE this Planet,, This SOLAR System,, EVEN came into being we live in an ILLUSION of the present....WE are constantly traveling from the present into the future while at the same TIME remaining in the past..

And that brings us back to the fact that all “knowledge” of the universe is based on observation and there for relative...any and all so called “knowledge” about trans-spacial events is pure speculation ...so far , if we find a way to observe a “non relevant” event (an oxymoron by definition) we will ether have to reevaluate the already over worked (unfinished) model of the universe and change all our beliefs (except for Hawking who will just blame god) or accept a new foundation of relevance....”what is mind ? no mater. What is mater ? never mind” ...LOL

O no you opened a discussion of “time” ...the most poorly defined , least understood...um better call it a concept . To state that we are always “moving” threw time pre postulates that time is a fixed object containing many f the property's of mater ...non of witch is supported by anything other than our perception of moving threw it!!!! Past , present and future are all nothing more than convenient and quite lazy unscientific observations based on ...well nothing LOL . I do agree that “time” seams to be a fundamental form of energy in this universe but it also seams to be a critical 4th dimension to all other stated dimensions in any statement....we make a LOT of assumptions when we make any statement about “time”

Well, Hawking's theory is that a black hole would rapidly evaporate in a poof of radiation and elementary particles, and so would be harmless.

But. No one has ever observed a black hole evaporate, which to me means even a micro black hole could be stable, and actually grow.

How fast it will grow is unknown, if indeed it will grow at all.
What would happen if it didn't evaporate, and started growing?
What would happen if it didn't evaporate, and didn't grow?

There are too many unknowns about this very bizarre experiment, and too many possibilitys of a major disaster occurring from it.

It is apparent the lawsuit to stop this machine from being built has failed, so now the world will have to wait and see.

If it does grow, I hope it is slowly, so I can collect that 20 bucks from RNC before I go! LOL!

The Collider will fire protons up to 7 TRILLION electron volts before smashing them together!
That is an unbelievable amount of energy for a sub-atomic particle.

How much energy would it take to produce a micro black hole?

Is this enough?

It may be WAY more than enough!

I feel reality is an illusion of duality created by the mind...

The big bang was gods first thought...
Who am I?

and evolution as a whole is an evolution of consciousness, where we as humans are consciousness fully evolved...
We are past naturalism and survival of the fittest...
We can ASK the only question of existence...
There is only one answer...
And to fully understand it takes a perfected consciousness...
One that has shed all hate, and greed, and violence...
Only then can the answer be fully grasped...
If before there was anything there was GOD,
Then isn't everything a part of god?
COnsciousness is on a neverending journey towards GOD-realization, the pursuit of happiness, the path to enlightenment, Living as a devout christian, It is all the same never-ending journey towards god-hood...
We ARE divine to the naturalist world...
We must accept that and live divinely amongst ourselves...
You don't have to renounce just acknowledge all perspectives, and spread the love!!!
The only thing real is GOD, The only thing that matters in life is love for god...
Which in essence is love for everything and everyone...

I kinda agree with your thoughts here Gorilla, but at the same time I disagree.
The "big bang" never happened, and the earth and everything upon it was created by God.

Evolution is but a theory that has never been proven as fact, although it has many believers.

Only an intelligence more vast than even the the greatest minds on this planet can comprehend, could have created this solar system, the earth, and its moon, and the sun that it all depends upon.
It was NOT a "big bang".
It was a miracle of creation that didn't just pop into existence. It was God.

If ALL is illusion are we NOT a part of that illusion and AS such are we NOT subject to the laws of that Illusion??
