A friend of mine and her family, along with my boys and I went out to eat last night. Everything was going fine until the nightmare children from hell showed up. These children will be in prison by the time they are teens.
The kids, about 4 and 5 years old where running around the restaurant like it was a playground. They would stop at various tables begging like homeless people and the parents would apologize just to let them go at it again. No discipline, no reprimand, just a brief minute of "you guys stop messing with them and come here", "you guys want some soda". "mommy is very disappointed in the way you are acting". I was about to lose my cool when another patron beat me to it.
Long story short, the family left and a few of us clapped as they did so. The parents had no regard for the rest of us enjoying the evening, so I had no problem celebrating them leaving.
I see this type of thing all the time when out for dinner or shopping. People know their children are heathens and unruly but yet want to subject the world to their devilish behavior. Don't apologize for them acting like little devils, do something about it. If you cant, STAY HOME UNTIL YOU CAN. We the public don't want to see or hear it. We pay hard earned money to enjoy ourselves, not watch your children act out.

Use common courtesy and respect others while out in public.

Am I being unreasonable? What experiences like this have you had? Vent it here.

No, you are not being unreasonable. In this day you pay a lot for a night out and you want to get the most from it. The same thing happened to us at Outback one evening. My husband was the one who spoke up and the family left. Everyone clapped and said thank you to my husband when they left, even the waiter.

I love to hear that. SO many times I too have come across a family that went out to eat and expected us to watch their kids. I would have loved to have been there to see the clapping when they left.

I waited tables at Cracker Barrel for 10 years... I can't begin to tell you how many times my mind has been blown away at childrens behavior. For a while I had to take a second job to make ends meet, my husband was just finishing school and money was tight...Anyway it was at a Shooneys well we had one family that would come in once a month and their kids would smear their pooh all over the bathroom walls. YUK, some poor person from the DISH room had to clean it. EVERY MONTH!

At 4 and 5 they should know better already. Obviously they have no discipline at home.

You are right, they are the inmates of tomorrow.

I once saw a woman bring a 1 year old to a movie theater. It wasn't a Disney movie either. It was Ironman! Can you imagine?

Unreasonable? heck no, Cro! You were being far too easy going, Honey! You and your family shouldn't have been subjected to the outrageous, incorrigible behavior of someone else's kids!
I'd have told that Momma to make her kids mind,
or I was going to start complaining, LOUDLY to the management about it! Wishy-washy parents like her are he ones breeding and releasing the criminals of today's society! Those kids should have KNOWN better in the FIRST place than to behave that way, and WHEN they did act out, should have had their little fannies scorched right then and there!

AMEN Sister.
Parents like the ones you potrayed think their kids are just a mistake in timing, and should be forced to get educated in the fine art of discliping those monsters.

I would have just bought the restaurant and made it a private club for the night and made all the people I didnt like leave. Has anyone seen my bestest little buddy? I need someone to help me fly my corsairs to the middle east. It just doesnt make any sence that he went into hiding like this. I hope he isnt in any trouble.

Those in Georgia have a quaint expression, that with the proper glint in the eye, usually works. As best I recall it goes something like this : " Don't make me waaaant yooooou !" Works great on the adults, and they either take the hoodlums with them or trample them in their haste to the door . Either way peace and tranquility return, and they usually don't !

Liarboy, last I heard, his azz was still stingin' so bad from the last whuppin' he got from the Pansy in the Pink Jumpsuit, that he can't sit down at he computer, or get into his brown and white truck, or even ride his tricycle! The Pansy in the Jumpsuit put up flyers all over DeLand telling all about it. It was posted on every other telephone pole from New Smyrna Beach, all the way into DeLand
and even on a few cars! I think they like to "tell" on each other, or something!

Leave it to a pansy in a pink jumpsuit to go through all that trouble for a snake.

It is obviously a snake itself.

A pink snake? LOL!!!!

I like burnt rabbit over an open flame. River water. Also, dont pull my hair, that is so Neanderthalish. Oh yeah, I gave birth to three offspring. It hurt.
