HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Former detainees of the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq are suing U.S. contractors in four states for alleged torture. The first complaint was filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Seattle. Others are being filed in Detroit; Columbus, Ohio; and Greenbelt, Maryland. The complaints allege that innocent people who were arrested and taken to the prison were subjected to forced nudity, electrical shocks, mock executions and other inhumane treatment by employees of defense contractors CACI (KAK-ee) International and L-3 Communications, formerly Titan Corporation. The plaintiffs are represented by law firms in Philadelphia and Detroit and by the Center for Constitutional Rights.

What are your thoughts?

Hi Corrina,
How was your weekend? Before I start may I ask you a question? It is just everyone is talking about the Mississippi River in MISSOURI but no one is saying anything about the MISSOURI River. I was wondering did it go over it's banks and if it did WHERE?
AS for this you have got to be kidding me! I knew these things would find away to make us give them money for the torture. WOW guess we need to make the Supreme Court responsible for this. Sense it was their idea to give them LEGAL REPRESSENTATION. And rights to Hebeas Corpus. My thought is and I am trying not be too hot headed about this, They fly OUR PLANES into OUR buildings they KILL OUR PEOPLE and now they want us to give them money for embarrassing them. Can you see what the bloody H*ll is wrong this picture? I can!

Here's the latest on flooding in the St. Louis area. Hope this helps:

(KTVI - myFOXstl.com) --
ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Barring another downpour to the north, the worst of the Great Flood of '08 may be over for most of Missouri.

But a few places have yet to crest.

The National Weather Service says St. Louis is cresting on Monday at just under 9 feet above flood stage. The flood has caused closure of the President Casino and a handful of other businesses that sit along the riverfront.

Cape Girardeau in southeast Missouri is expected to crest at 42.5 feet on Wednesday. That's 12.5 feet above flood stage. Thousands of acres of farmland are flooded, but a floodwall protects Cape Girardeau and most of its 36,000 residents.

The water is slowing starting to recede in hard-hit Lincoln County towns like Winfield and Foley, but it will be some time before residents can begin assessing damage.

Thanks Corrina,
At least the family homes are safe. I hope your family is doing OK. It is sad a lot of Historic land marks are gone, but at least for my family the memorial for my grandfather should still be standing and his old home. Thanks again.

Are these Federal Cases? Don't you have to get permission to sue the Federal Government before you can sue tham? I think this is all ridiculous, and that the Supreme Court has yet perpetrated another big time BLUNDER.

I wish that was the case Sipedo , unfortunately we are seeing a case where they are going after private contractors ...but the question is valid who/how/why are they allowed to use a US court to try a case that should only ever be tried in an Iraqi court ...If I commit a crime in a foreign country I face that country NOT this one, but as you know we have given our rights and our courts to ALL the world...we are so screwed !

Terrorist filing a U.S. Lawsuit in a U.S. Court.
I think I'm going to be sick! I don't want to live in a country where terrorist have more rights that I do. Where a NON U.S. citizen has more rights that I do.

Somthinsup: Abu Ghraib was filled with prisoners before we ever came into the picture... the people there weren't just terrorist.. they were anything from common criminals to people that were outspoken about Saddam.

I dont think they'll win. That mayer arar (sp?) lost his case and he was picked up in the US sent to Syria. He was never allowed to our law of having a different country of deportation, were we knew he'd be tortured. He's gotten an apology from congress already.

Don't confuse these people that are formally brought onto US soil or a sovereignly US controlled military base (considered US soil) .. If we call them enemy combatants we cant try them if we call them unlawful combatants we have to give them rights, because we brought them onto US soil.. Even though it's Cuba. Here comes into play we should have just categorized these people already and not gotten ourselves into such a hole.

The WHOLE purpose of the Supreme Court Ruling was to Put AMERICA on Trial,,NOT the Terrorists..

These cases,, TRIED in American Federal Courts,, will have NOTHING to do with the acts committed by the Terrorists.. Their Guilt or Innocence is IRRELEVANT...Not ONE Terrorist will be put on Trial for their acts of terrorism..These cases will involve the Legitimacy of their DETENTION by America...

In OTHER words,, to put it simply,, it's Equivelant to putting the COPS on trial while the Crimminal sits back and LAUGHS,, While planning his Lawsuit..

dks..We TRIED to catagorize them and every time we did the Left squalled bloody Murder..

THEY wanted them defined as POWs ( and BOUND by the Geneva Convention ) until they found out that POWs are routinely held for the Duration..

THEN they wanted them placed into Civilian Courts ( and given rights ) until they found out that as CIVILIAN they were subject to extradition..

"Enemy Combatant" was finally settled upon after YEARS of negotiation with Jurisdiction given to Military Tribunals,, under CLOSE Civilian Scutiny,, for the purpose of trial..

THIS was on the eve of being settled to everybody's satisfaction ( except for the Terrorists ) when the Supreme Court,, in VIOLATION of it's OWN Earlier Ruling ,,stepped in..

yep I know and these guys aren't even on "US soil" or a base we have sovereign control over.. My point was some of these people at this prison were there before we ever stepped into the picture.. Oh how fast do they become westernized LOL..

I think we ALL saw this coming as soon as the Supreme Court ruled in their favor. I can't say I'm surprised that the prisoners immediately seized the opportunity to put the ruling to work in their favor. The belief now is that they'll have the U.S. courts so tied up, that they'll just let many of them go rather than try to bring every one of them to trial.

We are SO in trouble. This ruling is going to give them the power to attack us again and when they do it will be ruled Double Jeopardy. They will get off and then a few days, weeks, months, years later we get hit again and again the courts will let them off. We did nothing wrong and yet WE the UNTED STATES is being sued. Is there nothing we can do to stop this? Are we so contempt to allow the Supreme Court to do this without challenging them? What do the victims families have to say to this? Has the Supreme Court even asked them what they thought of this? Has everyone forgotten what these THINGS did to us? The Trade Towers The Pentagon. The Supreme Court has finally showed us POWER CORRUPTS AND ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTS ABSOLLUTLY!!!

NOW..If a Trooper kills a Terrorist WE put HIM on Trial..

You KNOW what's amazing to me..

The MSM made a CONCIOUS Decision to DOWNPLAY the beheadings..

They made an OFFICIAL POLICY out of NOT showing the Towers coming down after a reletively SHORT Period of time..They EVEN tried to blame the WHOLE thing on Bush instead of the Terrorists..Held a COMMISSION for THAT very Purpose…

They brought on their “Experts” who tried to tell us that the Towers were “Legitimate Military Targets”..

Hardly ANYONE even KNOWS of the bodies of Dead American Soldiers that were STRIPPED and HUNG from a Bridge..( But we ALL know that TERRORISTS were forced to run around naked and that,, THAT,, is TORTURE..)

They FABRICATED stories like the Flushing of Qurans down the toilet while Christians around the world are KILLED for OWNING a Bible....

They blame US for every death at the hands of the Terrorists..

They EVEN lie and Exaggerate,, in an EXTRORDINARY fashion,, the NUMBERS of Dead Iraqis,, MOST killed by TERRORISTS,, that they blamee on US..

EVEN today you hear them say that we CAN’T send these Murderers to the countries where they committed their acts of Terrorism,, We CAN’T try them HERE for their crimes and NOW,,WE can’t EVEN hold them during a time of WAR….WE are being FORCED,, by the Supreme Court of the United States,, to release them back onto the battlefield to KILL more Americans..And NOW the door is opened for THEM to get RICH from their Terrorist’s activities..

Yet WE were treated to MONTHS of Stories and pictures of that Female Soldier with that Terrorist

on a leash..And EVEN after ALL involved were PUNISHED severely,, WE were STILL bombarded with claims that THIS,, and ONLY this,, is Torture and was even SANTIONED by the United States of America and this Administration....

Hell,, if I were to believe HALF of what the MSM tells me,, I’D be suing America too…

It is amazing how far the left is willing to go to take control...their victory in 06 has cost us dearly and yet the crimes against this country continue to add up
Funny but no one seams to understand that we are at “end game” for this country , we ARE now living under a totalitarian government with no ability to make “change”. In the past two months alone the judiciary branch of government has handed down decisions that over rule , Popular vote (the will of the people) executive privilege and legislative decisions (as well as long standing principals of our governance) ...fool yourself if you like but we now only have ONE branch of government and it holds power over all others....
