WASHINGTON (AP) -- John Hagee, an influential televangelist who endorsed John McCain, is apologizing to Catholics for referring to the Roman Catholic Church as "the great BLEEP" and calling it "the apostate church." Hagee's support for McCain has drawn criticism from some Catholic leaders. McCain has said he does not agree with some of Hagee's past comments. In a letter to William Donohue, president of the Catholic League for Civil and Religious Rights, Hagee wrote: "Out of a desire to advance a greater unity among Catholics and Evangelicals in promoting the common good, I want to express my deep regret for any comments that Catholics have found hurtful." Donohue, one of Hagee's critics, said, "To me, it's basically over." He planned to meet with Hagee.

We want to know what you think tonight.

Thanks for blogging,

Corrina

I love religious blogs!!! I think it is so funny how people get bent out of shape soooooo much when you insult a church or their imaginary little friend!!!(NO I AM NOT ATHEIST). As for Hagee I do not think he should apologize for speaking his mind. He is not the only one who has spoken his mind in public about religion, church and everything else that goes along with those beliefs. I think the church should apologize to him for making him the target. I see nothing wrong with speaking your mind about things you feel very passionate about!!! As for Donohue He is probably more upset with Hagee supporting McCain then with what he said about the church!!! As for McCain if he has never sat through one of Hagee's lectures then he should not have to denounce Hagee's lectures!!!

Do people still take any clergy serious who feel as though they have the right to criticize people of other faiths? Sounds like an attempt to play God.

Like the attempt to connect Obama, this attempt to connect McCain is pretty lame.

It wasn't an admission of wrong or withdrawal of his position. He simply expessed sorry that what he said hurt peoples' feelings. If he believes it he shouldn't back off from his statements to be politically correct. If he doesn't think the same way any more, the he should simply say that he was wrong and has changed his position. This issues is a waste fo time.

I know many Catholics, some of whom are the most wonderful people. But when reading Revelation chapter 17, one can't help but wonder if it is referring to the Catholic Church. My position is that the great prostitute of Revelation is a conglomerate of religious ideologies, the Roman Catholic Church being just one part of it. But if you read on in Revelation, you find that the Great WH0RE of Babylon, as it says in the King James Version, is stripped bare and destroyed.

Why was the word BLEEP bleeped out. BLEEP is a real word with a real definition. What is it with this FOX censorship? It's a real word, leave it alone.
