I find it absurd that the media is comparing the folks up north being flooded to those of Katrina. Other than the fact that their lives are literally being washed away I see nothing comperable. These people are doing everything that the law will allow them to, to save themselves. Not waiting for someone to come with a bus to shuttle them away or waiting for someone else to re-build their towns. I noticed that as the waters recede they are right there trying to put their lives back together. This is on top of the knowledge that more rains are coming. Granted the Katrina saga was sad event in history, however the people have a much different attitude. They seem to have the we can do it frame of mind that once made America a country to be admired and relished, much like the folks in Kansas whose town was literally blown off the face of the Earth. Not the you owe me frame of mind that I have seen from the Katrina people of New Orleans. The remainder of the victims pulled themselves up and carried on with business. I can no longer call the New Orleans folks victims because a victim takes steps to improve their condition, not lay and cry for MORE sympathy, MORE aide, MORE, MORE, MORE. How many years are we going to continue aiding and abeting this situation?
