The US House of Representatives failed to pass the $700 billion dollar Wall Street bailout package Monday afternoon...

Before voting was complete, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi went before the cameras and mics and blamed the whole mess on President Bush and his administration. You can go read her comments under our 'news' section. Point is: 12 Republicans apparently changed their votes from 'yes' to 'no' and those twelve votes may have been enough to pass the bill.

Let's face it - there is plenty of blame to go around to everyone! Did Pelosi jeopardize the vote? Was her grandstanding out of line with what was at risk?

THE ONLY THING I CAN SAY IS THAT HOUSE SPEAKER NANCY PELOSI SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM HER POSITION SHE SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN PLACED IN THAT POSITION.
REP. BARNEY FRANKS SHOULD BE RIGHT BEHIND HER.

HER BIG MONTH BLEW THE DEAL, BUT THE 1ST DEAL THAT SHE WANTED PASSED HAD A LOT OF PORK TO BE PAID OUT IF YOU READ IT LIKE McCain did.

Here's a Dirty little Secret..

The DEMOCRATS didn't NEED a SINGLE Republican Vote to get this passed..NOT a ONE...

Yes I think the Dems jeopardized the vote. Pelosi is ALWAYS grandstanding everything she says is for shock value. I can only hope that when McCain is elected there is enough votes for the Republicans to take back the House/Senate.

Yes, I think her little speech did kill it for Republicans, although, they didn't need one single Republican vote to get it passed.

Her grandstanding on this subject is kinda like the pot calling the kettle black.

THIS is BEYOND Comprehension,, BEYOND reason..

The ability of the Democrats to INSULT the Intelligence of the American People is STAGGERING in it’s ARROGANCE and Audacity..

FIRST,, Harry Reid DECLARES,, for ALL to see and hear,, that NO Agreement is Possible without McCain’s Presence and involvement..

THEN he gets BLAMED for a BREAKDOWN of an AGREEMENT that NEVER existed and the SAME Democrats fall ALL over themselves trying to get to a Microphone and play their Wyatt Earp Impression by DEMANDING that McCain “GET OUT OF TOWN”…

The LIBS. Exceed their NORMALLY fanatical skewing of the facts by claiming that McCain is “Playing Politics” by NOT going to the debate so he eventually bows to the inevitable and attends the debate after all..

NOW that the Bill FAILED to pass they’re BACK to Blamming McCain for NOT getting enough Republicans to support it..

The ONLY thing MORE shocking then these infantile antics by these Democrats is the Number of People who FALL FOR IT..

Public Educatiion at it’s BEST…

The real story here.. Before McCain was called in there were only 4 votes from the GOP, and after McCain came in AFTER being called to help, they got it up into the 60s! Yet they NEVER had 70 votes from the right, and Its looks like Pelosi knew it wouldn't make it even after calling for a vote anyways, and out of frustration, blew her lid.

Now Democrats wanna spin it. "But BOTH sides are spinning!" Oh hold on now... if this was TRUELY the Democrats reaching out, then why instead of 12 more votes from the Right instead of just 6 more votes from BOTH sides then? Surely that would be much easier to break it up would it not?

IF they had the votes and it was indeed 12 gone from the right.. then Pelosi railroaded it because they didn't want McCain's success of bringing all but 4 initial votes to the deal and looking like the good guy. That would have all but destroyed Obama! So.. once again AGENDA before country from the left then killed it.

Hey Nancy!... Heres a little tip from all us "little people"... when you come in and tell us at first that this problem is the result of BOTH sides (when actually its not) and then right before the vote, you spew your liberal one sided talking points, and slap blame to one side ONLY, you are not consistent, therefore NOBODY is going to trust you!

Either Pelosi de-railed this for political reasons, or is just outright stupid! (likely both)

Ms.Speaker, The Austrailians, and other international markets in a few hours are now going to open 10% down right off the bat! The lowest in their history! Way to go girl!

You know..I keep hearing that “It’s NOT a time to point fingers and place blame,,it’s time to work out a SOLUTION”..

Sounds pretty reasonable,, doesn’t it??
ALL noble and open minded and all..

The Problem IS that the People MOST guilty of bringing this crises ON ( Dodd,, Franks,, Gorelick,, Waters,,etc…) in the FIRST Place are the One’s who’re Going to be IN CHARGE of the money from ANY “Solution” that gets passed and what’s the FIRST thing that they try to do??

Allocate 20% of any Profits to Obama’s CRIMINAL Community Organization ,,,ACORN..

I am glad she put the brakes on, but this will get worked out.

Bailing out companies is not what a captialistic society does. Before the ink gets on the paper, there needs to be more assurances that these executives are not benefitting.

Did Pelosi jeopardize the vote? No. She told the truth, plain and simple. It's the cowboy economics and greed as a family value of the Bush administration and the GOP that created this mess -- and now everyone's expected to pay for it. White-collar corporate welfare, is what it is.

Senselessjoe, you are one of many ignorant liberals. The GOP did not create this mess, and Bush and McCain BOTH tried to prevent it long ago. However, the Democrats would not let them. Here is a little truth for you if you are brave enough to watch it. I am sure you won't, as you will no longer be able to spew your nonsense!

Pelosi has been out of control since she became the speaker. She got a little power and it went to her head.
She is the root cause of everything that has happened in the last two years. Her hatred of the president has clouded her mind so badly that she has forgotten about the average citizen, and no longer cares, if she ever did to start with.

Its a shame that CNN costantly harps on the republicans.
Maher was on NBC this am and said we have to get rid of the bible people like Sarah Pahlin he is just another hollywood jerk that wants to get liberals back in power.
Actually they have the power outnumber the republicans so why cant this thing get done??
Pelosi is just another reject the dems dug up to fill a hole with a woman.
Its not an easy thing to try and shut up any woman when given such a powerful position.
it looks to me like the dems are trying to force Palin to drop out what losers scared of a woman from Alaska Why??
She's isn't running in the top spot and what about the other guy what makes him so lovable that CNN puts his face in ours on their liberal network.
The whole mess is being used by the dems as a tool to try and swing votes.
They made it now want to pass the buck typical after all their symbol is very fitting isn't it??

I hate to say this people but the ECONOMY can be manipulated by Government Actions or INACTIONS.. Else we wouldn't EVEN be HAVING this discussion about a Government Solution..

The INSTRUMENT of that Government Minipulation is NOT the President but the CONGRESS of the United States..

It can be PROVEN the extent of the Democrat culpability regarding our Current Crises..( If there WAS a SINGLE Republican involved you know DAMN well that HE would be in the News DAILY )

Do you REALLY think that the Party that has CONSISTENTLY Campaigned on Doom and Gloom Crises after Crises for the last 50 years didn't ENGINEER this "Disaster" to occur just 40 Days before a PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION??

THEY were willing to LOSE a WAR to WIN an election..Is THIS so hard to believe???

It's really not that difficult, but Speaker Pelosi (D, CA) chooses to ignore the arithmetic. Even with all her power, arrogance, and her shreiking voice, 95 members of her own party bolted, more than enough to assure passage. So what happens? The lib media hoists the "Blame Someone Else" flag again.

Classic dem/lib.

mscsailor.. of that 95 members on the left that Pelosi didn't get include five Chairmans of committees, many of her fellow California leaders, a couple sub-committee chairs, and then told the ones up for re-election they could vote against.
(IOWs we will get the Republicans to cover that for you..)

Sen. Kerry tonite defends the liberal view. Said when he ran he wanted regulation on Freddie/Fannie, but as a minority Dems couldn't do anything because of the 60 vote rule. Then says then after 2006 STILL couldn't get anything past 60 votes.

Here is what America wants.. Since liberals existed, everytime there was a crisis, they ALWAYS wanted someone's head on a platter. But not this time. No, we need to fix a problem, and not fix blame. OH SORRY! You want my children's future and likely my grandchildren's as well? I want Franks, Schumer, and Dodd's head on a platter for it!

CynPro.. this will have an effect on the little people, but don't take my word for it... just trust the word of your favorite libs then...

Asked about Monday’s vote on the bailout bill, House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn tells reporters: “We haven’t started whipping.” Asked if he’s going to start whipping, Clyburn says: “The speaker hasn’t told me yet. I do what I’m told.”

Motion to reconsider laid on the table Agreed to without objection.

On motion that the House agree to the Senate amendment to the House amendment to the Senate amendment Failed by recorded vote: 205 - 228

Note the "motion to reconsider laid on the table Agreed to without objection." If the Democrats had wanted this to pass, they would not have said that. The procedural guts of this is that any vote in the House can be "reconsidered" by a motion to reconsider that is in order from a member of the prevailing side for two legislative days. By tabling this, that option is off the table.

The simplest option for Pelosi would have been to wait an hour, watch the markets collapse for a while, scare 12 Democrats and hold a revote. Surely some Republicans would have participated in this.--nods to redstate.

The dems wanted it to fail.

I cant believe people still don't see the correlation between Bush's economic policy and the current economic crisis.

Anyone who says that it is the fault of the democratic controlled house is either misled or brainwashed. This avalanche we are facing started years ago with the Bush administration's choice to support big business rather than working families.

I think right now the faulty realization of the republicans trickle down theory, giving surplus tax money back to win votes and alienating and breeding animosity overseas and at home are coming back to bite all Americans right where it counts. The sad thing is it will take a full blown recession to make some republicans realize what is at stake.

I talked with a couple staunch republicans who both said the same thing, "The problems we are facing are a direct result of the presidents mismanagement of government." That stems from the fact that he had no experience at all with the economy what so ever before taking office.

Which begs the question, "Which is going to be the better of two evils?" If in eight years the Republican party blew the surplus the Clinton adminstration and Republican House had accumulated can we trust putting another in office? Especially one that seems woefully out of touch with our economic situation?

What about Obama? His lack of experience is troubling considering the gravity of the situation that faces us? The theory that, "any change in regime is better than nothing," is an alarming one.

With both candidates we here about change but my big concern is this, "At what price?" Are we finally paying piper for our own ignorance and errors of judgement? Is it now that we finally come to the realization that the political process for the past 70 years has been in favor of the corporate world and not the American citizen?

Don't believe me? Do the research and tell me why in 70 years we went from an America where 70% of business were owned by individual middle class Americans to where we are now. Where less than 85% plus are in the hands of Corporations both at home and abroad?

Are we really ready to take our tax dollars to bail out the very people that turned their backs on America? I say we need to find alterantives other than handing our money over while turning a blind eye to borderline criminal actions of the very CEO's asking for this bail out.

Ok that was long but I had to vent a bit after reading the news today. I for one supported the bail out till I started pondering it over but now it inflames me to think of giving my tax money to these animals who have for years benefited from tax breaks given under the guise of avoiding this very situation.
