Network Anchors to travel with Obama. Equal coverage?

Next week when Democratic Presidential Candidate Barack Obama travels to Europe and the Middle East he'll be accompanied by a massive media entourage. The list will include all three anchors from the major networks - Brian Williams, Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric. All three anchors have been promised one-on-one interviews with Obama at some point during the trip.

 

You may recall that John McCain, the Republican Presidential nominee, traveled through Europe and the Middle East in March. While there he met with leaders of many of the nations. None of the major news anchors traveled with McCain and CBS didn't even care to send a correspondent; ABC and NBC had regular assigned reporters following McCain.

 

Does this seem fair and equal coverage? It is part of the requirements of all licensed broadcasters. Feel free to share your opinion...

 

And one more thing...before you take a position for or against NBC,ABC and CBS - you should know that Time and Newsweek magazines have placed Obama on their covers a combined 12 times during the past 3 years, compared to 5 times for John McCain.

I heard radio talk show host Neil Boortz commented yesterday, during his trip to London and Dublin (he's doing a conference on how radio talk shows influence the presidential election) that in Europe, Obama is practically considered a god. Newsbit after newsbit, in page after page of the newspapers, its all about Barak Obama. Its Obama, all the time. Therefore, it doesn't surprise me in the very least to hear you say this, Cale. I definately think that the coverage is lopsided.

I have my theories on why he's so popular with the Europeans, but that's another blog.

I used to watch ABC when Peter Jennings was still alive. But now it is all one sided news. Obama this Obama that. Mr. Obama can we get that for you. While John McCain gets ignored and the only thing you hear about him is when he says we maybe over in Iraq longer then we originally thought and then Obama says 100 years and the press runs with it. I remember SNL a couple of months back did this skit with Hillary and Obama it was during one of their debates and Hillary was not even able to get one word in. It was so accurate. The "news media" was like this is the Obama channel and if you are not Obama then you have no rights in our debate. This debate is to let Mr. Obama express his views. How true that skit was. What ever happened to telling both sides to every story. I think ABC, NBC, CBS and all the others forgot how to be journalists. At least fox has not forgotten, or we would really be in trouble.

The media has always been pro-Democrat...it's the reason they hate talk radio and the internet...they can't control it or its content, so they bash them!!!

Once upon a time they attempted to "appear" unbias, they don't even bother to do that anymore.

If I was a talented political cartoonist...

The scene would have Obama walking to the right, followed by three bounding, prancing hound dogs. They'd have the NBC, CBS and ABC logos emblazoned on thier respective bodies. Obama would have his back to them, whistling for them to follow, his hand in the "follow me" gesture.

To the far left of the frame, would be a fox (as in Fox News), sitting facing you, his head turned towards the scene and looking with complete disdain at the hounds.

Too bad I can't acutally draw that.

WELL YOU CAN JUST WATCH THE NEWS AT NITE AND SEE WHO THEY FAVOR,ABC,NBC,CBS, ALL TREAT OBAMA AS IF HE WAS A BEAUTY QUEEN IN A BEAUTY PAGENT.
IF McCain wins which I hope he does it won't be because of any MEDIA coverage,as you can see it's way one sided.
THE MEDIA HAS NEVER INTERVIEW ANY OF OBAMA'S AFRICA FAMILY, SUCH AS HIS BROTHER ABONGO "ROY" OBAMA WHO IS A LUO ACTIVIST AND MILITANT MUSLIM,WHO ARURES THAT THE BLACK MAN MUST "LIBERATE HIMSELF FROM THE POISONING OF EUROPEAN CULTURE"
OBAMA, CAMPAIGNED FOR HIS COUSIN RAILA ODINGA IN KENYA WHO SIGNED A SHARIAH PACT WITH MUSLIMS.
