Well so much for Barack Obama's massive lead in the polls...Gallup, one of America's pre-eminent pollsters, just released its latest Presidential tracking poll: Barack Obama & John McCain TIED at 45%.

Just the other day The Los Angeles Times and Bloomberg jointly released their newest poll showing Obama with a 15% point lead....and such tidbits as, "voter enthusiasm, views of President George W. Bush, the Republicans, the economy and the direction of the country -- point to even greater trouble for rival John McCain."

What the heck is going on? What to make of all these wacked out polls?

The media is trying to sway your vote as usual. I don't pay any attention to what the media says. I listen to the facts but will admit it is fun to hear what the media puts their spin on almost everything political.

I have said it before and I will say it again.. Barack Obama will be the next President of the United States. Not because I support him either. Its because most conservatives dont like John McCain so they would rather stay home than vote therefore giving their vote to Barack Obama.

Polls - who cares?

Even what seemed like perhaps one of the most reliable polls - exit polls - stop working in 2000.

I've noticed that in a tight race, polls are not an exact science. Also, many of us on the right when asked whom we will vote for in November are either saying a 3rd party candidate, write in candidate or undecided. We will probably end up voting for McCain, but no one wants to encourage him, since his love for illegals is greater then his love for Americans.

...to what Afelton said : “all that is necessary for evil to win is for good people to do nothing” Polls have always been useless , it is possible to make a poll say anything RE how often in the past 4 years have we seen a poll indicating how “unpopular” the war is but logic begs the question when is any war ever popular ?
I will not take any polls because my intent is often perverted by the pollster RE : I am asked if I want an victory in Iraq and I say yes...later the same day on TV my response is repeated as my desire to get out of Iraq.....

Afelton,

That is exactly how it is, a non vote for McCain is like giving a vote to Obama.

God help us!

Where does "none of the above" finish in these polls?

It's all about where they take the polls. I think that even national polls are skewed because in general, especially with politics, the region will have a political leaning that will affect the results. That is what I think happened here, taking a poll in predominantly democratic Orange County (Los Angeles CA) will get you a 15% lead for Obama.

I am still not voting, I think they are both the wrong men for the job. So in light of that, I refuse to comment on either of their political leanings.

Polls are BS! According to the latest Gallop Poll, Obama and McCain are running even at 44% among registered voters.

The only poll that matters is the vote in November! Speculation is nonsense, and that is what polls are!

Why do you media professionals keep paying for these polls? The polls were wrong in the 2000 election; the polls were wrong in the 2004 election; chances are they'll be wrong in the 2008 election.

First of all, unless they are sampling 30 million people (10% of the population), they're meaningless as a means of predicting anything other than the time of day the poll was conducted. Second, the poll questions are generally skewed to produce a desired response to the question, which -- essentially -- is no poll at all.

Save your companies' money .... forget the polls and those who produce them. If you ask 100 people in Central Florida who they're going to vote for in the next race for governor, know what your poll tells you? Only who THOSE TEN PEOPLE are going to vote for ... that's all, nothing else.
