I've got a new, pathetic example of corporate America nickle and diming. Believe me this is good...

My friends at Chase Bank issue one of my credit cards. I've made a habit of always paying on-line and on the due date. This past Sunday I log-on just after 4:30pm to pay my balance in full. Before I can finalize the payment I get a notice from Chase that for the payment to post on the due date - I have to pay a $14.95 expedite handling fee!!!

Apparently Chase, one of the world's largest banks, doesn't have the technology to post a day-of payment after 4:00pm. Of course you know that's garbage and it's REALLY another way of milking money out of customers.

So I was left with a choice: either pay the $14.95 absurd fee - or not pay it and have Chase post my payment in full the following day and assess a late fee and interest! I paid the $14.95.

It's worth noting that Chase is the only financial institution I use that milks me like this. American Express, US Bank and Discover all post payments the day of up till 11:59pm. But Chase tries to play it off that after 4:00pm, it simply cannot process the payment until the next day. Needless to say I won't be using my Chase card again!

I'm sure I'm not the only one with a pathetic story to tell...

I went through the exact same thing and sent them a letter telling them how unprofessional it was for such a large company! You know, I went back on line and lo-&-behold, they finally undated their stuff for on line payment but still don't have the same day payment capibility -- it still has that 4 day delay before it is actually posted! Go Figure!

I've had that kind of malarkey happen to me, too. I paid off a credit card over the phone, and then asked for it to be cancelled. When I received my final statement, proof of cancellation and bill (where I had transferred the balance to) there was an additional 49.95 fee! I called about it and some snooty rep said, "It's our policy, and it's in you agreement...." I hung up on her.

Too add...all my on line payments with all other debt billings has their stuff going on and yet still above Chase's capibilities...everyone else puts them to shame! They are scaring me off with the trust factor!

Well Cale...welcome to my world. Chase is our Mortgage Company.......I agree PATHETIC is a better corporate word for them. I, once we get passed the circumstances I am in, will file law suit against. I WILL JUST SAY I HAVE EVERY SINGLE RETURNED RECEIPT CARD; FAXES AND CERTIFIED FUNDS........WHICH they are milking us for.......and I AM DONE BEING NICE. Once, my personal life or should say finances settle a bit, I AM GOING AFTER THOSE FREAKING PIECES OF CRAP.........that's what they've become on my agenda and the attorney I am working with AGREES......which legally is a good thing. Good luck to you in all your endeavors... WHY AREN'T YOU IN THE HUNK COMPETITION?????

You should try having your mortgage through these bastages! If you pay it online, it takes three days for the payment to post, try to schedule it and it won't schedule until after the due date! I wonder what kind of crap is this, because now they charge me $15 to do a pay by phone. So the next month, three days ahead of the due date, I try to schedule a payment online, and now there is a holiday involved, so it can only schedule the payment for the day after once again! Pay another $15. Ok so next month there is no holiday and I try to schedule a payment on Friday, payment is due on Tuesday, but now the excuse is that it is after 9pm and the payment won't post until... you guessed it...Wednesday!!!!

I am so tired of being nickled and dimed to death by these bastages! I truly wish someone else would buy our note, but the interest is low, so that probably won't happen again any time soon.

By the way that is how we wound up with Chase, they bought our note. Never had to pay to make a payment before, but now it seems they change the rules as we go along...

In short.... I HATE CHASE!

At least you are lucky enough to be able to pay off that card, cut it up and never use it again that way you will never be screwed by them again! I wish I could do the same with my mortgage! =)

Oh and Chase? I don't see how you can say the world would be better off without you in it? I think you are a fine looking young man who always seems happy in your images! Thanks for uploading the images, I enjoyed looking through your albums! =)

I hear congress has some good things to do with the CC companies.
but of course, the CC companies have got thier lobbyists working flat out to "stop the changes"

the credit card industry has more consumer complaints than any other -even cellphone companies.

Lets see if congress sticks up for us or folds to lobbyists.

All CC companies rip us off- with interest rates at historical Lows, I have not seen my interest rate go down.

and as for mortgage companies- I have HOME Q servicing- they are the pits !(as hundreds of others will tell you) check them out with online complaints !

you know it is really unfair- a company can really ruin us by ruining our credit report
yet we cannot ruin a company ! all we got is the toothless tiger the BBB.

Well, Cale..don't blame you for being who you are..I guess that's what makes us all different..I STILL THINK YOU ARE A HUNK AND I WISH I WOULD BE 20 YEARS YOUNGER.......RUFF RUFF......ok...sorry you look like the serious type. You somewhat remind me of my older brothers...they are so good looking and were always so serious...do me a favor though..FROM TIME TO TIME.....try and give us a SMILE...at the camera..........thanks for letting me know. Again, good luck to you. Remember life's too short to change what we can't...so like Brenda said..cut'em up and don't deal with them no more...

I had an experience with Capital One once, told them to take their card and kiss my @ss ! There is always someone else who wants your bussiness and will treat you as such. Cale it's time you tell them to pucker up ! LOL

OMG! Cale I just realized I called you Chase.... I am so sorry for that, that last message was supposed to be adressed to Cale, not Chase!

I think it's obvious to all that these fees are nothing more than pure profit gravy. But if you can get away with it, I guess that's part of capitalism. In other words the market allows it. If everyone dumped Chase, like I am, then you'd see those un-customer friendly fees change real fast!

I have so far never had anything like that happen to me with the card I use. Although I do not use it much. Cale I had a friend who said that to me one day and the following week he ended up in the hospital on life support. So don't say things like that. We all have had problems in life. But I rather look at problems: as hurtles to overcome not challenges to be avoided.
