Lawyer Gloria Allred, familiar to those of you who frequent cable network news, is now representing the victim in the Polk County teenage beating case. Allred is serving as attorney for the family of Victoria Lindsay, the girl seen on videotape beaten by several similar-aged girls.

Allred often represents people in high profile cases who may not be able to afford legal representation. Just a few days ago Lindsay's mom said she didn't have the money for a lawyer. Allred has rep'd Amber Frey, the one-time girlfriend of murderer Scott Peterson - and Paula Jones, who accused Bill Clinton of sexual harrasment.

I think it's safe to assume we will all be seeing a lot more about this sad and equally pathetic story. Let's just hope it doesn't turn into a media circus like some of Allred's previous work.

i usually cant stand gloria allred, shes always going after losing or ridiculous cases ,but in this case i hope she gets all she goes after ,this poor child was not only hurt but humililated, this was a disgrace and if my child was involved ,he wouldnt be able to sit down for a week plus i would press charges my self !!!parents just let juveniles get away with murder and punishment now is take away "things they like" ,that dont work worth crap thats why so many are running streets and doing violent things!!put the fear of god in them .parents communicate with your children at young age my boys are 9 and 15 and they are wonderful, cause they know right from wrong ,plus they would have to answer to dad(which they have not gotten spankings since they were 4 yrs old )but they know better !!

Excellent statement sparrqhme!!! I couldn't agree more.

I am glad to see that Victoria's family is going to have excellent representation. Hey, if it does become a circus, you have the animals and the "ring' leader ready for their cages... give Victoria the whip.... of course the parents of these beast are the clowns!!!!

Well I've seen her on TV but not enough to form an opinion of her but it's obvious she is a tough attorney and good for the victim to get that help. I hope these kids (the suspects) and their parents have a miserable time through all of this. I don't know how the parents of this girl keep their cool, I really don't.

I was being sarcastic Nav, though I DO admit I can see where that was NOT evident..

I remember Allred from the OLD days when she was a struggling Lawyer with hardline Feminist's ties..Back then EVERYTHING was the Guy's fault..

She Mellowed throughout the years and calmed down quite a bit..

She's a GOOD one to have on your side..

If Alread is your attorney, they your 100% Guilty already in the publics eyes.

I am changing my mind.
The girls who beat up on Victoria Lindsay, obviously thought that she would be hurt and shamed.
They didn't have the brains to realize that the shame was their own.
This was assault and that they could end up doing time for it.
I, too, hate to see this turn into another "media event."
This will cost the eight who were arrested dearly.
If any of them are bright, a felony conviction will bar them from certain careers for life.
At this point I would rather see them come crawling on their knees to Victoria Lindsay and beg forgiveness.
I would like to see her be big enough to give grant them forgiveness, then I would like to see them grow in character, emotionally and spiritually.
I know, I said myself that they have no class and deserve to spend time in prison. But if they have any human decency, perhaps, they should make amends and not have their lives entirely destroyed.

Ahhh,,The Liberal Mind..The eternal naivete'..

IF such a world existed where such things were possible,,THIS incident would NEVER have happened in the FIRST place...

In THIS world you'll be lucky to see the day where they QUIT blamming others for THEIR OWN actions...

Adeltonian: If you have seen the video, these girls are ALREADY guilty in the public eye and Alred (not alread) is going to be there for the civil side of this case... and they will pay dearly whether they go to prison or not...

Pegus: These "girls" where laughing right up to the time they faced the judge... they have NO CLUE they did anything wrong, how could they ever ask for forgivness unless it was just to save there own butts or make them selves look better in the public eye now, it is to late. Some of the PARENTS can't even see that this was wrong, saying that "it was just a one on one fight, what's the big deal"... I saw 3 girls in that 3 min. video hit her and this lasted 30 min.. You are not born with compassion, you must learn it from your up bringing... it is soooo obvious why this has happened. I have not seen any parent apoligize to Tori and her family for there childrens actions yet. They keep saying what "angels" they have.... I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO STOP APOLOGIZING, I WOULD OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. I would have made my daughter call her and apologize and then turned her over to the police happily. Of course, like sparrqhme said, she would have gotten the big swat to the butt before that... sounds cruel and all to some, but come on... this "timeout" crap hasn't been working very well has it!!! My mom only had to look at me and I would know that what I was doing was on the edge of getting a spanking. I don't even remember her ever doing it... just remember how I KNEW I didn't want it!!!

I think that each one of them should be taken out and publicly beaten within an inch of thier lives. Then they would know about humiliation...and by the way it should be shown on YOU-TUBE. Let them get a taste of being on the recieving end.

The posters who are against time-outs are completely right. That crap doesn't work. These little morons who were involved in this were brought up with that time-out nonsense. Pegasus, your heart's in the right place but unfortunately I don't see it happening that way. If they get away with this, they'll just high five and start giggling again and someone else will suffer. I have no pity on these brats.

Well, my kids made mistakes, but they grew in compassion and turned into wonderful young people.
Some of these fools must have something good in them somewhere. . . might have?
I remember there were some kids, I just barred from my home.
I saw them as losers and didn't want them influencing my children's lives.
I used time outs. They were for me. I needed the time out.

If they did apologize, it wouldn't be from the heart. You could tell by the way they were acting, they still think they haven't done anything wrong. Maybe soon it will SINK in.

Pegasus makes a good point about knowing who your kids are hanging out with and who influences them. The mother of Mercedes, when asked if she knew the girls or the parents, said "I have met some of them" and about the parents " I just spoke with them tonight". Of course this is also the women who is having her mother raise her daughter, she is already absent from the situation. I already told my 7 years old that before she even gets to visit someone when she is old enough to go on her own, I want to know the parents and the child. I will have the last word on who she gets to "hangout" with, period.

Bottom line, I HOPE THOSE W-ICHES GET WHAT IS COMMING TO THEM. GOD TAKES NOTES...AND HE IS WATCHING. SO WHETHER HERE ON EARTH OR AT OTHER TIME. THEY WILL ANSWER FOR WHAT THEY DID..

“Well, my kids made mistakes, but they grew in compassion and turned into wonderful young people. “

Of THAT I have NO doubt Pegasus..YOU were and are more typical of a caring Parent then ANYTHING that I’VE seen coming from these girls’ parents..If I had been involved in something like this as a kid,,MY parents wouldn’t have been making excuses for me and blamming the vicitim..NOW the kids are NOT so much of a mindset that THEY did anything wrong as they are convinced that THEY are the ones being victimized..I wouldn’t have needed to go to jail to learn once and for all that THIS was UNACCEPTABLE behavior that would NOT be tolerated either by Society in general or my parents in particular....Instead..These kids end up showing as much contempt for the Judge as they did for the object of their violence..THAT alone would have resulted in a decernable change in the way I look..Courtesy of LOVING Parents who CARED about me and my future..

“Some of these fools must have something good in them somewhere”

I believe this also but they have developed such a hard shell that rather then being treated as a fragile flower to preserve their beauty,,THEY will require a chisel and hammer just to get to it...Like a Statue…

I can remember my brother doing something that my father disliked (he was playing with matches in the house). After my father beat his A$$, he made him "Pack his BLEEP" in a paper bag, nothing of any value because he was not sending him to a "home" with anything good - jeans with holes in the knees, shirts that were ripped and torn, holey socks, worn out shoes - and he told us (my mom, my sister, and myself) that he was taking him to a home and leaving him, because he didn't want him burning down the house around us. He packed him in the car, and left! None of us knew what he planned to do - only what he said. When he got back home, about 3 - 4 hours later, my brother (with tear stained face, and very apologetic, was still with him. My dad later told my mother that he cried all the way to Philadelphia (where my father took him) and promised he would NEVER DO this again. HE NEVER DID! If these parents had done a little corrective action when these girls were younger, I am sure they would not have done this crime. I still believe that applying a remedy to the seat of the problem, solves a good many problems later down the road.

And I can still hear my mother say, "If you run away from me, when I catch you, I'll beat you harder then if you come to me know." I never did figure out how she knew how much harder she would beat us, and yes, I got my fair share.

Here is what I would like to see... they should be charged under federal laws for kidnapping... this carries a maximum penalty of life in prison with no parole. Scare the living BLEEP out of these kids and give then 10 years in maximum security federal prison. They knew what they were doing, they planed it, it was spur of the moment so that is premeditation and conspiracy to commit bodily harm possibly death. Conspirarcy is 3 or more people, so this is established.

Now I also feel that they should help the kids out with their U-tube project and show the video then break away to the conviction , then break away to the sentencing, and finally break away to interviews of them after bein in prison for 3 months. Then air it on U-tube. After all that's what they wanted right?

AH HA!!!! The TRUTH comes out.... I looked up Fox 13 Tampa news, because I heard something about this... Last night they ran this story. Mercedes ex-bioyfreind had to file a restraining order against her, prior to this event. She stabbed him, hit him in the chest so hard he could not breath and verbally assaulted his family till the had to get a restraining order... And the boy was afraid to come back to school because he was afraid of being jumped.....Oh, she is such an "angel" mama Christina Garcia - you should be so proud... dumb ***... PLEASE!!!

Navigator, just curios, but what does this have to do with the price of beans in China? The girl was jumped by several others defenseless the video clearly shows this... it had nothing to do with her past experiences. Lemme guess you are one of those people who think because she had a shady past she deserved it?

If that is your take I have only one word for you IGNORANCE.

If everyone were to be judged on the past for crimes taken against them, how many people who get robbed and beaten and shot would get justice for the crime against them? Your Logic lacks substance.
