It's going to take a while to read all 400-plus pages of the Mitchell Report - but already there's plenty of stunning information. Roger Clemens. Andy Petitte. Miguel Tejada. All are named as having used steroids and/or perfomance enhancing drugs. Are these guys cheaters? Should they be punished? Fire away...

Hi Cale....I think Patrick Pegues already has a blogged regarding this....

As are they cheaters? Should they be punish...technecally and morally yes...but in this world today...they are all doing it...oh so sad that only a few got caught...and I wonder how truthful is this report...ARE ALL THE PLAYERS BEING TESTED???? that's my question to you

Sure they are cheaters. Sure they should be punished. It will be pretty funny to see the baseball hall of fame names and all the *** next to the names. The sport is even more tarnished now in my opinion. They should have to give at least half of their salaries back as well. I wonder how many good, honest hard working kids grew up and didn't get into MLB as a result of these CHEATERS stealing their spot???? Sad day for baseball and I haven't been a fan since the late 80's.

It's interesting to note that George Mitchell penned that baseball and the players and teams should start fresh - and not live in the past.

YES!! they should be punished. If they are not then what kind of message does that send to future hopeful baseball players. And the punishment needs to be strong enough to send a strong message to kids that if you cheat, you lose period!

Just another reason to raise the price of a ticket to a ball game. If they are guilty, they are guilty and should be punished. Taking steroids is not permitted and they knew that before getting involved.

Here's an antidote to "start fresh and don't live in the past" thinking: "Those who forget history are bound to repeat it." Ignoring wrongdoing is never a good thing. If these guys want to make phenomenal salaries doing something nonessential for society, they need to play by the rules and step up to the specimen cup and blood test vial -- regularly and often. Otherwise, get an ordinary job like everyone else.

The only question here would be the legality of the use. If the atheletes broke the law, arrest them, try them and give them the same punishment any "normal" citizen would get. If the use is legal, the government should butt out and let pro baseball (football, hocket, tennis, soccer ((is that really a sport?)) police their own sport. Atheletes don't raise kids, parents need to accept responsibility and watch their kids.

I think they should not get punished they should just go to a rehablitation center for a little while, This does not change my mid about Baseball, what a couple people do in my opinion does not affect that club or sport!

Happy Holidays!

Like I said in another blog if the commissioner "puts the past behind them and starts fresh" thten he needs to apologise to Pete Rose.

What they do Does effect the sport. And Kids DO look up to these people they've done it ever since there were sports.Just going to some rehab dosen't do the trick. The fact that what they did was wrong and they knew it was wrong. And what they do does send a message to the kids. Don't people know the difference between right and wrong anymore? Or have we "greyed" the lines so much that right and wrong are now just relative. What a level we have sunk to.
Also if these "athletes" have acheved records while taking this junk they're taking then these records need to be stripped from them.

Thanks for all the comments...as someone who's been a baseball fan since I can remember, it's sad to see the focus on all this garbage. The sport needs it out in the open, to deal with it, but it's shameful nonetheless.
