Keep reading. He wants to end welfare, get the government out of health care and end the IRS. With no social services for the illegals to be collecting, there is less reasn for them to cross the border.

All the other candidates support the NAU, so they are not going to close the borders.

I haven't found a downside to this guy yet. Anyone see something I'm missing?

The only downside I've been hearing is that if we pull out of Iraq the terrorist will start attacking us on US soil. I've really looked into this and this is complete BS. For one terrorists do not target Army combatants, they target civilians. Why would terrorist stop attacks like 9/11 and voluntarily run into Iraq to fight our troops? Why wouldn't they continue bombing civilians successfully? What's preventing them from doing it again? The terrorist that attacked on 9/11 came mostly from Saudi Arabia and Syria. There is no conflict at the moment in either of those countries, so how are our troops in Iraq preventing them from attacking? The second point is that we will have lost the war in Iraq if we bring the troops home. But have we really lost? We currently are not opposing any known enemy. A war usually consists of 2 opposing armies. We have destroyed the Iraqi army and killed Saddam Hussein and we have successfully occupied the land and created a democratic government. How is that losing the war? The only conflict in Iraq now is policing the people and the streets and trying to avoid a civil war, are we supposed to stop the civil war and choose which side the USA should be on during the civil war? The Iraq War is over, the USA won, the only war that is currently going on is the War on Terror, and that war has no end.

Remember when the US Government said that we will stay in Iraq and train the Iraqi soldiers on how to police their country and as soon as the Iraqi government was in control we would leave? Well again President Bush and his administration lied to us, now they are currently building 14 permanent US bases in Iraq, so they are never planning on leaving Iraq, Iraq will always remain occupied by the US and that's why the new Iraqi government cannot come to any agreements. Nobody in Iraq wants their country to be permanently occupied by Western society. Until we leave the conflict in Iraq will continue for the next 100 years.

I'm sorry the conflict in Iraq will only continue for a maximum of 10 years. After 10 years the USA will be bankrupt and will no longer exist as a sovereign nation. When a nation goes bankrupt it will easily be taken over by other countries, a bankrupt nation cannot afford to purchase arms or pay and feed their troops or their people. America would have killed itself trying to fight a war on terror that cannot be won. The terrorist win at this point.

The terrorists HAVE won. We have given up our rights, the government can and does spy on us, we are not free to travel to other countries where we could until recently, REAL ID is coming and our sovereignty is about to be ended by the NAU and SPP.

The enemy is not some criminal group of fundamentalists, it is our government!

GO RON PAUL!

Yeah I was being very generous by giving it 10 years, but in reality America is already bankrupt. How do we intend to pack back a 3 trillion dollar deficit without putting ourselves into a Greater Depression then we had back in the Great Depression. The Great Depression is going to look like a cake walk compared to the Depression we are going to be in. Private banks and printing money with no gold or silver backing it was a temporary fix to get us out of the first depression but it will only make our children pay for it instead. I have to look at my kids and point to the grandparents and great grandparents for making them pay off their debts.

Ron Paul had alot of interesting ideas, but most of it is just that IDEAS, do you honestly think that it is in our best interest to bring all of our troops home from everywhere, and flat tax would be great, he actually stated on Leno the other night, that he would push for NO taxes, this guy is a joke, these things will never happen, and without taxes, where is the money going to come from to pay for civil servants, roads, etc. You people need to think about what your wanting. Besides he has no chance of winning, so get over it.

Downside is easy... The man is a Republican in name only! The ONLY anti-war Republican! The man's depth on international policy and the full history of the middle east is absent! Ron Paul is an isolationist, and would rather repeat failed efforts in our history! Just like Liberals will use the word "progressive" he runs from isolationist and uses other words.

The man in every debate gets flustered when he is questioned, and while his website looks good it does not illustrate his lack of the ability to carry any dialog on a topic. Simply.. he is a combination of Ross Perot and the Green Party candidate.

We are not bankrupted yet unless we try to make the younger generation pay for all the IOUs in the Social Secuirty box in VA! Since the beginning the funds have been transfered into the general fund, and availed some high priced pork to get passed around.

Time to actually kill all earmarks, and squelch spending, and STOP re-electing Vietnam era guys and older!! Guys like Stevens of AK, Kennedy, Byrd, etc. will hold the young to pay for their mismanagement to the tune of over 6 decades!! I will cut my losses now, if you just STOP forcing me to fay FICA/SSN taxes!!

Stop forcing DoD to pay their own disability while all other Federal branches get full benefits! (DOE,DOA,DOT etc.)

Stop taxing Social Security income! (how many times do people need to pay on the same money!) That includes Death Tax! Instead, take the money for Bridges in Alaska, or museums for Woodstock or funding ridiculous art and be as responsible as you ask me to be!

I'm not seeing the bad part of being a bit more isolationist. I'm not seeing the Perot/Green Party thing. I'm glad he realizes that the boarders need to be shut down and ecstatic that he is all for personal freedoms and liberty. I'm not crazy about pulling out of the middle east prematurely. Ron Paul is not for big government spending and is the only candidate out there who wants to shrink government back down to a Constitutional size. I like him.

rexsmom.. Roosevelt tried isolation prior to WWII when Germans were attacking our merchant ships off our own coast. German U-Boats were in NY Harbor all the way to Florida, we knew it, but did nothing. It wasn't until an attack on American Soil was so big we could no longer stick our heads in the sand.(Pearl Harbor) It took over a year for us to get up to speed after that, and the Russians literally carried our water through that time until a Republican came in and ended the war.

The 90s we repeated history by ignoring EVERY attack on Americans. The fallen soldiers of Desert Shield/Storm died in vain as Clinton allowed Iraq to rebuild, re-arm, gain allies, and fire on us literally daily. Even provided terrorist with Sarin to bomb Japanese subways for example.... We pretended nothing was wrong. Kohbar towers, USS Cole, 2 embassys in Africa, 93 Tower bombings, etc.

Isolationism is another word for INACTION, and irresponsible. Now our troops must pay the price of inaction. Had we taken care of business when Sadaam first breached UN Resolutions the cost would have been much less!

(Remember Clinton saw 4,417 armed forces deaths in his first term alone, its just not reported to you..)

Imagine people wanting to break into your home to do harm to your family, and the police refuse to come because its just not worth it!

Simply.. Our nation has had to defend itself since the late 1700s and it has NEVER stopped, yet everytime a liberal of either party shows up they think isolation will work! How many times must we pay the price? Everyone wants to make good fo

cont. Americans always say they want a better life for our children... clean air, water, a good education, yet won't lift a finger to defend them against those that would rather just see them dead!!

We FAILED to defend our children in the 90s and now all those folks who say our childen are dying over there forget THEY are the ones who refused to engage and now THIER inaction has made the price of freedom more expensive!

Like it or not, America in the 90s was weak, and EVERY terrorist org. not only knew it, they exploited it! FINALLY Bush has come in and is bringing back the respect that previous administration literally gave away!!

Ron Paul is bending over backwards to keep some Woodstock hippy peace, love, and stick your head in the sand NIMBY mode back, and frankly he and the rest of the 60s and 70s leadership needs to be forced out of office!

I like the FairTax idea. I like securing the boarders and keeping our sovereignty. I like limiting government. I'm not crazy about his foreign policy, but, it's a trade off I'm willing to make.

Abunai read my blog view my photos

Trade off? There is no trade off by surrendering to every agressive organization around the globe! We did that in the 90s and I would bet if you asked 3000 plus people in New York on 9/11 if they would like to see that, you might get a different answer!

All that other stuff is pointless when you are dead, or worried about a sniper taking you out as you take your child to the bus stop!

Just yesterday another terrorist plot, and plan was stopped between Italy, UK, Europe, and Portugal! We do this because we are OVER THERE flushing them out!! If you would rather be flushing them out of your backyard then vote for Ron Paul!

Remember the School hijack by terrorist a few years back? Kids lined up and shot, dying of thirst after literally sucking urine out of unconscious children's clothing! or just shooting parent trying to calm their crying children?

WAKE UP PEOPLE! This is not just some sensational ploy... we are actually stopping people making plans to repeat this exact same senario!!

Again Abunai I must stress the terrorist that performed the terrorist attacks on 9/11 and on 7/7 in London were not from Iraq. They were from Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. Our troops are not preventing them from attacking again. The terrorists came over using student visas. We still give out student visas today that policy has not changed. Remember the students that were arrested just months ago outside of McDill Air Force Base with explosive devices in their car? They are students here on visa that are still being trained to fly airplanes right here in the United States. The troops in Iraq are not stopping Terrorists they are only stopping the Middle Eastern citizens that do not wish to have a foreign army occupy their land.

Not only have we not increased our security on visas and who we let in, but we are actually relaxing the laws to allow any non-documented immigrant to get a visa by simply giving them ID cards which allow them to work and live in America. The exact opposite of what we should be doing to counter terrorism.

ThinkTanked.. And I must stress that Iraqi Freedom and the war on terror are not linked as you suggest or think others are suggesting.

Iraq is the end of a ceasefire agreement between coalition forces, UN, and Iraq that is a decade overdue!

The troops in Iraq are taking out insurgents, and this summer are doing it quite well thanks to finally weeding out previous administration's Pentagon weenies that lied about readyness for years to bolster their careers! Notice we don't have any Generals on the news right now whinning anymore?

As a former ground forces guy with Naval Special Warfare, I am FINALLY proud of my President that allows us to take the fight to these nuts who called us cowards and hit us at will while Clinton tied our hands behind our backs, and stripped our military to the tune of 140 Billion a year!!

It is NOW that the world is respecting the US! Liberals say we destroyed our reputation. THATS RIGHT!! the last reputation we had was cowards scared of our own blood, and Clinton forced us to be just that!! His Top Brass worried about their careers NEVER stood up except for the Marines! They actually refused to follow along with alot of it!
