There is so Much Strife and Division right now its making me ill.....

It seems like that there is much more now then ever, ever since 911..and if we continue on this path OSAMA gets what he wants..

I love coming to this blog and blogging with you people , i don't agree with some things as im sure you don't agree with some of the things i blogg about , but attacking someone the way some people attacked Alexis , thats just crazy, he is a professional, who was trying to reach out to the spanish veiwers...I don't agree with him putting Spanish first but that was corrected..and thanks for that...

We all really need to just agree to disagree and move on...

Show some kindness to the NEW guy !

Alexis , welcome to Central FLorida!

No Way!!! That would be to give up MY Country and MY Culture and that's not going to happen.

Some people got kind of personal in Alexis' Blog. I don't agree with that. He doesn't deserve that. But as for writing in Spanish and then defending doing that ... people are not going to look the other way anymore. It is ruining our country. The Hispanics are going to have to, as you say, just get along and respect our culture and language here like everyone else has done. That is the reason people and Mayors of cities in Pennsylvania and Governors of California, etc. are speaking out about them: Because they refuse to "just get along" and accept & respect the common American culture that allows us all to get along. When they do that, people will stop complaining.

I have never seen anything like this hate speech and division between Red and Blue, etc. I saw it when I was in college in 1972 and saw the hippee look people being totally incapable of reason on Vietnam, Nixon, etc. I told people that these people will grow up, cut their hair and look normal and run for office. Like Harry Reid of NV, the ultra Liberal with Grateful Dead on his office wall. I dont want Obama at all to win, but him saying that he wants to end this hate in baby boomers ran well with me.

Let me tell you something.

I also read his post. OK, WELCOME PAL.
But what he did by posting his essay in Spanish is EXACTLY the kind of disrespectful
dog crap that only perpetuates the very serious problem we have in this country with the lack of respect to the United States, and the language of this country.

We speak English here. Sure lots of people speak many languages, but this country
has a language already, and I REALLY GET BURNING MAD when ANYONE from the Spanish culture proceeds to speak Spanish first or actually IN PLACE OF ENGLISH.

Would I attempt to move to Portugal, and
even though I spoke Spanish write to their TV
stations, and public viewers in English?????

OF COURSE NOT.

The Spanish culture in general has developed an ATTITUDE here in the United States

Generally speaking, THEIR ATTITUDE SUCKS

They're very disrespectful. Puerto Ricans, Mexicans, Colombians, Cubans, it doesn't matter what sect. They ALL have an attitude that now that they're here, they're better than anyone else, and OUR COUNTRY SHOULD ADAPT TO THEIR NATIVE TONGUE TO SHOW RESPECT TO THEM.

I sware to God, this attitude makes me
burn like you have no idea, and THAT'S what causes racism. ATTITUDF.... They need an
attitude adjustment.

Gman i agree...
sometimes people of different cultures seem ( and sometimes they are ) disrespectful, and that just iritates the crap out of me...Maybe this country is to blame for being to "LAX" witht he whole allowing diferent languages to be spoken ANY WHERE..thats just not appropriate...
But we HAVE the power to change this.. By not being rude to them but asking them kindly to speak enlish...i have done it before.. and sometimes they are embarrassed by their "ENGLISH" but hey Rome was'nt built in day...
I for one will not do buisness with a establishment if its only "spanish".. so i guess i would not do well in Miami...
but thats just me...I do have respect for the hard working Spanish, who come to this country Leagally , and try to speak our language to them i say GOOD ON YA MATE!... I have little repect for the ones that come here Illegaly and have no intention of learning our language our even our culture, and are only here to take take take.!
also no respect for those who speak spanish openly in public , when dealing with the public which is Englsih speaking..

Im not ever going to be nice when people refuse to speak English while they are here in America.

Spanish does not need to ever be spoken in here where this is based in America. If this was a Hispanic country, then you can speak all the Spanish you want.

Dont go talking to me about your freedom to speak all the Spanish you want. This is America. Speak English or get out!

Thank you BritinUS for this post.

I truly do not feel we are disrespecting anyone here by writing in Spanish. After all, we are translating the entire message into English out of respect to others.

It is very disturbing to see that in this Great Country, we still have people with hate in their hearts.

I for one Thank God for all the blessings He has bestowed upon me, including the ability to learn to speak two languages.

Party Girl,
I tend to agree with what you said,"when they Refuse":, But you know who are the ones that Refuse..The American Born Puerto Ricans , their the ones that refuse their the ones giving the rest of the spanish people bad names...I have seen and Heard it time and time again..Some one wants you to speak spanish and they ask you , and of course you respond No and then they speak perfectly good English.. Now that IRKS me!.. But the Majority of the spanish people i have encountered try to learn English, and sometimes are embaressed by the way thir "English" sounds...
I have friends that a Peurto Rican that speak Broken English and thats all they speak to me and around me , and if they do speak Spanish some one will translate...
And Its not all the American Born PRicans, just the ones that seem to think they are better then us because they can speak two languages...it seems there is a different kind of SDpanish here in the US...the ones that have attitudes as DRMONTY said...and the most with The TUDES are the American Born PR!..sorry but thats my opinion !...

As an Italian American. Never thought I would say that. I thought of myself as an american, with my ancestry Italian. Do I force you to learn italian or press 1 for italian. I also do think that many hispanics are rude and disrespectful. I am forced to listen to spanish music during work. I do not bring in my italian cd, because it is not right. If someone asked me to listen to my cd. I would play it. But, I do not just force it upon someone that does not understand Italian, just because I am Italian and I want you to kiss my back side.

Our nation was divided once before...just before the Civil War.

Thee greatest man in human History said:

"Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall."...Jesus Christ

& one of the greatest men in U.S. history said:

"In my opinion, it will not cease, until a crisis shall have been reached, and passed. 'A house divided against itself cannot stand.' I believe this government cannot endure, permanently half slave and half free....Abraham Lincoln

It seems like the democrat party (or "liberals") understands this and are deliberately dividing us so they can gain power, turn our nation towards Socialism & away from freedom.

We are all bound by the “TOS” and it clearly bans any post in a language other than English...why does HE get special treatment?
Don't try and extend an olive branch to me, I will just smack you up side the head with it! No Peace No more injustice, we have an official state language and it IS English!

Hi, Burnstorm,

You keep referring to the TOS. Before, you indicated that the TOS says "no posting in any language other than English" and now you say that "it clearly bans any post in any lanuage other than English".

I ask again, can you please point me in the right direction? I read the entire TOS and I was not able to find a clause addressing your argument.

Are you referring to our TOS??

Please help me find this information. If the rules say English only, I will obey them. Rules are rules.

I look forward to your response.

Gracias.
Thank you.

Hi everyone, Alexis here, the new person that now everyone seems to hate... BritinUS's thank you for your post. If anyone cared to look I wrote my first blog in English and only English. It is not the one everyone has written too. Then I decided to write one in Spanish (translated to English, to not be disrespectful) However, I was amazed to see that the second one (Spanish) was posted onto the main blog. When I saw this I, and without any advice changed the order English to Spanish because I as a US born-national agree the priority is English. As to the community here I can not say much, because much has changed in the 20 years I have been away... And perhaps I have a different stand than many Hispanics as to imposing culture, customs, and languages onto others..I do not do that and never have, I give priority to where I am. The key goal is to respect others.. The decision to post muy second (spanish)blog first was done with-out my consent, if that would of been the case I would have requested to not do that (too late now)..
As to Partygirl, you have attacked me very harshly without knowing me. The "speak English or get out" saying, where do I go? I was born here and grew up in Orlando. And my ancestors are from London England.. don't they speak English there too?
So I guess I would have the same problem, I would be critized for knowing other languages..
To all, you know what the funny thing is, when US polititians are running for office, they seem to learn Spanish, and take out adds in Spanish, have press conferences in Spanish because Hispanic voters seem

My son and I went to the store last night. I told him, I thought I was in Mexico. Hardly anyway at the checkout spoke english. I turned to him and said maybe I should speak Italian all the time now. He looked at me, shook his head and just said (mom).... I mean, I can understand the fustration of many English speaking people. English is the Language of the United States of America. The U.S. founded by immigrats, many cultures, not just spanish. Stop forceing your language on us. I do not write my blog in Italian. I would expect people to be upset if I did.

BritinUS... Please don't say things like it's the puertoricans! Just because some of a race acts one way it is very wrong to assume that the whole race is that way! I am white. My husband is PUERTORICAN so I know MANY of them personally. My husband was born and raised in brooklynn. He speaks perfect english and spanish along with his brother and two sisters and they PREFER to speak english. His parents that weren't raised here but also speak english feel more comfortable speaking spanish and they speak spanish whenever possible but they at least learned the language and do just fine in this country. I learned spanish in high school before I ever met my husband. I'm so glad I did. I get why everyone is so upset about the spanish post. It is catering to there needs. Making it easier for them to live in this country and not learn the language. If all companies had everything in english it would force the hispanic people to submerge themselves in our culture and learn the english language. So many are afraid of losing their culture and are so proud of their heritagae they want to make a specticle of it with flags, clothes and their language and they what to show it off. That doesn't bother me. Im proud to be married to my husband. He is a wonderful man and father. I'm proud that my children are half Puertorican. They are bueatiful, sweet, and smart kids.

I don't think it was Deliberate at all...I think he was just being himself...it was a mistake that the Spanish eneded up being First...
Italianlady, unfortuantly we have to deal with this ...Our Govt has done nothing to attempt to Help these people speak english...the ones that have a hard time.. , yet they are willing to ALLOW a MAJOR bank to give Illegal Aliens High Interest Credit cards? that is something we should be alarmed about , not a reporter who accidently types in Spanish...If i were still a BOA customer My Money would be gone!...Just think of it like this ...You have money in BOA , the money market, they allow these Illegals to come in and BORROW your MONEY !..even tho its secure YOUR MONEY is being used by someone Breaking ALL THE laws in AMERICA!

Italinlady, when people are sworn in as citizens they have to take an oath in english don't they. When your grandparents came here there wasn't any government people pointing them in the right direction and translating for them while they went through the process of becoming an american citizen? You know this for sure? I agree that the only signs in other languages should be in theme parks and nowhere else. People should speak english in there place of business. However, If I'm in a store and I here a family speaking another language it doesn't bother me. It's not like they expect me to learn their language it's just what makes them more comfortable. They can express them selves better in their native toung. What make this country so great is that we have so many different people here from all over the world trying to make a better life for their family. The only truly native people here are the indians. Everyone else, well their ancestors came here from somewhere else just like people are doing now trying to make a better life. They should learn to speak english. Our country should stop catering to the hispanic people. This would help them to learn english. I'm so glad my husband learned Italian in high school. He says it wasn't that hard because spanish and italian are closely related. I can't wait to see Italy someday and it will be nice to be able to ask where the nearest bathroom is!

Hi....Alexis here, my grandparents, the fathers side moms family is from London had to learn English the hard too. My grandmother had a little post card asking for a job written in English... and she got a job and was helped by co-workers... no gov program... it was self-determination..
Besides I learned being in Dallas the EOL (English as a second language) does not really work. Kids are better when they are, we could say obligated to learn the language.. it will be hard at first but the results are rewarding... now I don't mean don't give them a special bi-lingual class (upon arrival) but I agree the rest of the courses should be taught in English.. In Dallas, there was a group called AVANCE which taught immigrant mothers how to speak English and even helped them get high school diplomas (being that most were from other countries and did not finish HS) This way the mothers could help thier kids with homework and to dominate the English language.. Very good non-profit program. As to BOA.. Almost all financial institutions in the USA give home and car loans to undocumented immigrants as long as they have a ITIN number.. the number given by the Federal Gov. to pay taxes.. And some banks do give credt cards to undocumented people, however, I will be honest most of those are pre-paid cards so undocumented people dont have to carry large amounts of cash.. As to BOA I believe its a credit line of $500, high interest rate plus a certain percentage down.

ItalianLady, I agree. I think a major point is being lost in this Blog. (I don’t intend to be contentious with my good friend BritinUs, but I want to make a point about this.) No one - govt. or otherwise - gave all the special treatment we see given to the Hispanics (that interferes with our lives and ability to communicate, etc.) to ANY ethnic group; in the past or present! The Hispanics are not the first group to come here with a different language and culture. AND ... everyone seems to forget this ... they are not the ONLY ones who are immigrating here TODAY! No one is helping the Russian guy who just got here today the way they are helping the Hispanics; or ANY other, except the Hispanics. Either help them ALL equally without creating problems for everyone else here (put signs up in ALL languages, ATM and Phone Menu choices for ALL languages, ballots/instructions/etc. in ALL languages ... OR ... do the BEST thing for all involved that has been done throughout the history of this nation: Put it all in our COMMON language that everyone must learn here so we can communicate and function and prosper and live peacefully together as a society.)

No one gets special treatment. Everyone else has to depend on either their ethnic community (little Italy or little Saigon, etc.) or in MANY cases, only on themselves. Certainly the Hispanic community DOES that too, and with great disregard for everyone else. They should have no problem accepting being treated equitably by the govt. and American society. Same treatment for EVERYONE! Give it to them all or don’t give it.
